Review from J P.
Love, love, love, love.
We stopped in Niagara falls for one night on our way to Toronto for our mini-moon. This was meant to be a "let's hang out, grab dinner, relax" kind of thing to lead up to the fancy-pants inn that we booked in Toronto. Man, did this blow the other inn away!
First, the room is huge. Absolutely enormous. Everything about it is sleek and clean. Our room had exposed wooden beams, a shower that is at least 6 feet by 9 or 10 feet that also happens to be a steam room, a huge and very comfortable bed, and a flat screen tv. But I haven't reached the best part.
At night, you fill out a breakfast card. In the morning, at a time of your choice, someone brings you a pretty sizable tray of breakfast foods, including a pitcher of coffee. As we sat having breakfast in bed in our Sterling Inn robes, I thought that this is the best way to spend our first day as a married couple.
And I thought it was a great deal. I think we paid around 150, which is a little steep for me on usual vacations but this included an amazing breakfast. It's worth it. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I were to go to Niagara Falls again. That's saying a lot, as I typically have zero brand loyalty. Check it out! -

I don't think that my review will be able to fully explain how amazing this Inn truly is. When you pull up to the Inn it doesn't look like anything special, however once you walk in you are transformed. I am not sure how to describe the decor - it's not modern, but it's clean and chic.
The entrance of the Inn is not that big - It simply has a small check in counter and concierge desk - that's okay because who really hangs out in the lobby? However when it comes to the rooms, there is nothing to small or ordinary about them. The rooms are so luxurious you don't want to ever leave. Each room has a huge (extremely comfy) king size canopy bed, fireplace, wet bar and these crazy showers that have side and overhead sprays.
I also love that this Inn comes complementarity with breakfast in bed everyone morning. It's chef's choice, but you will also have fruit, yogurt, some type of egg, croissant and juice or coffee. Nothing is nicer than eating breakfast in bed while watching the fire roar :-)
Oh and I want to make note that the staff is extremely nice and friendly. -

You would never ever think this place was what it is on the inside looking from the outside. It's off the "beaten" path of glitz and glamour of Cliffton Hill. But it's totally worth the stay.
The staff was extremely friendly, especially the concierge, who basically planed our stay in Niagara. She gave us vouchers for different wine tastings in Niagara on the Lake and also made some good suggestions around the area (trust the locals!).
The room was modern and it almost reminded me of a NYC style loft apartment. That apartment in NYC would probably cost around $2000 a month....our stay...a lot less! It was all hardwood floors and a nice little sitting area with a couch I secretly wanted to take home with me.
The only two complaints I had was the "special" bed they advertised was hard as a rock! I assumed special meant soft and luxurious. So, I of course, immediately jumped on the bed when I got in the room. Good thing I didn't bruise my knees, because it was SOLID! Our package also included breakfast every morning. The breakfast was forgettable. Hard boiled eggs, ham, cheese, granola, yogurt, apple and juice. I expect hotel food to be un-impressive...so this just confirmed my beliefs.
Parking is free, which is nice for a hotel stay in a touristy type city. The real score, FREE Wi Fi! That's unheard of these days! Plus you're within walking distance of everything on Clifton Hill and both Casino's. This is a 100% trusted place to stay and worth the money we paid!Listed in: Niagara Falls Vaca

We stayed here for one night to be able to see Niagara Falls. From the outside, this location is not much to look at, but walking in we were immediately impressed. The Sterling has a very modern decor that is very welcoming. We found the staff to be friendly and made the check-in process very easy. Parking here is included with your stay - many other places will charge an additional fee.
Our room was larger than we had expected. We were pleased to see that we had a Jacuzzi as well as a walk in shower. Everything seemed to be clean and presentable. The hotel is located not too far off one of the main shopping streets making it easy to walk to the falls and enjoy the nightlife in the area. It does not offer a "falls view" as you might find at some other hotels.
There were a few issues that I felt took away from the overall experience. My wife found some hair in the sheets of our bed. I found the bed itself to be quite firm (more that I cared for). In the shower, one of the three wall-mounted sprayers was not working and seemed to be clogged up. The small refrigerator at the other end of our suite woke us up in the middle of the night with a hissing and popping sound. Lastly, there always seemed to be people loitering just outside of the main entryway smoking and sitting around - not very becoming of this type of hotel. The welcome cookies that were left on our bed when we arrived were stale and tasted burnt. The packaging suggested they were made in-house and didn't reflect well on the restaurant.
Overall, I believe a little extra attention to some of these details would really make this place shine. Even still, we had a wonderful stay and would consider staying here again next time we find ourselves in the area. -

You wouldn't be able to tell from the exterior, but on the inside of this old milk factory is what I would call 'Hotel Heaven'. We arrived after check-in around 5 p.m. (check-in is at 4), and were greeted by a gorgeous entryway. Having paid for everything through http://hotels.ca, check-in was a breeze. We filled out the parking slip (parking is free!), received a print out of instructions for our room, and got the key-cards. The gentleman at the desk (I forgot his name), was very polite and helpful. They had offered to help us carry out belongings to our room but we only had a few things.
Our room was on the second floor (room 206), a corner room situated near the vending (which wasn't a problem). Walking through the hotel to our room, I noticed how tastefully the hotel was decorated. We took a peak into the other rooms that were being cleaned as we walked by, and they all seem to have a different layout which I thought was cool. The halls were quiet and smelled like cherries!
We were immediately floored when we entered our room. I had called ahead to request a Jacuzzi room (at the Inn, you either receive a steam shower or a Jacuzzi), and they held their promise. The rooms all have hardwood floors which is great! A HUGE shower that I could have a party in! A gorgeous bathroom. The bed was HUGE. A lot of reviews have said the bed was too hard, but I slept wonderfully on it. The room has an electric fireplace, it's definitely more for decor purposes but does give the room a nice ambiance when lit. Once we got settled we didn't even want to explore the falls. The bf even asked, "can we just stay here the whole time?".
As for breakfast, you fill out what you would like and for what time, and they are definitely on time the next morning. It's just enough to get you going for the day. The concierge was always helpful with any questions and greeted you with a nice smile and hello whenever you came in.
This hotel definitely made my trip topnotch, now I can't stay anywhere else. I can't wait to go back! -

This place was awesome. A lot of the others have touched on its great qualities such as the really nice decor, large rooms, great service. The jacuzzi tub was awesome - huge and it was self cleaning which was awesome.
The best part for me though was the food. We ate the resturant and it was AMAZING. Pricey - but not at all overpriced. Everything is local and they have a great wine selection. We had the cauliflower risotto, they gave us a pumkin puree amous bouche, and for entree the trout with a shirmp and marscapone ravioli on top and sweet potatoes...we were silent the whole meal because we were so busy enjoying the food.
The Niagra falls area is really quite trashy and commercialized and like another reviewer indicated we were told that Niagra on the Lake might be more desireable, but if you want to stay in Niagra falls this place is amazing. -

The only thing negative I have to say is that it's all the way in Niagara. I wish this place was in Toronto because I would sell my home to live here for a year. It's also a bit expensive but VERY WORTH IT.
When you compare hotel locations in Niagara, I don't think the value of this place can be beat. The rooms are huge! The bathrooms, Oh My God amazing! This is the first time I had a rain head shower, so maybe that was a big bonus as well. I got the jacuzzi tub and as you read from Lisa they also have a steam shower which I did not get the chance to try but the jacuzzi was amazing. I know when you go to places like Niagara you don't really care for the hotel you're staying at but in actuality I did not want to leave the hotel because the bed was so comfortable and the jacuzzi was to die for!
I didn't really know how to work the fireplace...I wasn't really paying attention to that...HUGE TV and Breakfast in bed ^_^. You get this list the night before and fill it out and hand it on your door, then the next day VOILA it comes to you on a cute little tray! It's not amazing food but at least its one meal you have taken care of before you explore Niagara, or at least its something in your stomach after the alcohol binge the night before!
I didn't want to leve the bed, I didn't really want to leave the hotel but I did. The location is very good, it's close to clifton hill and other attractions. You will need a cab for the casinos unless it is the summer and you can walk.
AMAZING Hotel....Only place i'd stay (unless I have no money...)
Cost: 1 room a little over $190
This place is amazing...that's all I can say.
Would I Stay Again: Yes. -

We decided to stay here after wanting to get away for a night and after looking on-line at hotels we thought we'd try staying here because it looked nice on-line. We are from the Niagara falls area but had never heard of this hotel before. but we loved staying here and were very impressed! Room was very big and spacious! Loved the design of the room and the hardwood floors were nice too!! Shower was amazing and very big! Loved the jacuzzi tub. Only thing i didn't like was the bed, it was too hard and we both woke up with a sore back. and the breakfast wasn't the greatest. But over all we loved it here and would recommend staying here!! I would go back!!

Stayed here multiple times in the past two years. And there got to be a reason for that. Rooms are spacious and beautiful, the staff is very helpful.
They have two choices either you get a steam shower or a jacuzzi bathtub. Being there many times we were only able to get the jacuzzi once. Just learned this weekend in order to have a better chance getting that room you should book directly through the hotel and early. Sterling is always packed not a single room free.
If you want a view I really wouldn't recommend this hotel. Since the hotel isn't exactly in a nice part of Niagara. But you will be so comfortable in the hotel room it won't really matter what the view is.
I read that others comment on the bed being hard but I haven't had a better nights sleep. -

Stayed at the Sterling Inn & Spa for 3 nights while visiting the Niagara Falls area late in the tourism season (Late October). The price was great during this time of year ($115CAD pre-tax) - one of the best lodging deals I've ever come across.
This is an absolutely incredible boutique hotel with the most comfortable modern rooms with all essential amenities at your fingertips. We took full advantage of the:
-Very comfy king-sized bed
-Fireplace!
-Jacuzzi bathtub in very large bathroom
-Large flat-screen wall-mounted television
-Long hallway from entryway to room cuts out noise
-Massage service
-etc., etc....
The only thing really lacking is a view, since it's not in the best-looking area of town, but you won't care because you'll be so comfortable in your room. The story I heard is that Sterling is an old dairy that was converted into a hotel. I didn't hear any ghosts mooing in the middle of the night though. The rooms are very quiet, due to their long entryways and thick walls.
The service is also top-notch. We utilized the concierge and he was extremely friendly and prompt. He booked us on some tours and provided us with free wine-tasting vouchers for several of the wineries in the area. In all, these vouchers saved us $40+. The staff is also prompt with providing a breakfast service each morning at your requested time.
With that being said, I'd be interested to know if service could still keep up the pace if the hotel were busier. There definitely was a lot of vacancy when we were staying here, which can lead to some more personal attention.
The restaurant on the bottom floor of the hotel, AG, is also a great spot to grab a romantic dinner consisting of regional ingredients.
I'd gladly stay here again. In fact, I wish that everywhere I traveled had a hotel this comfortable, clean and relaxing. Definitely recommended for a romantic getaway or trip to the Niagara Falls region. -

Stayed here the first weekend of May.
Accommodations were terrific, very contemporary design and spacious. Rooms were clean.
Service was attentive, friendly and eager to help. They lent us an umbrella when we asked if there were any stores nearby where we could purchase one.
The hotel is off the main drag, but it's just a block away. Plus, there are two Baskin Robbins on the way!
I would recommend one of their packages, which can be purchased online. Our two night stay would have been around $385. With the 'escape' pkg, we got breakfast each morning, plus an amazing dinner at AG, the hotel restaurant, for $425.
If you don't need a view of the falls, you can't go wrong with Sterling Inn and Spa. -
Review from Julie D.
Compared to the rest of Niagara Falls (excluding the Falls themselves, of course), I guess this place is nice. But I really thought they didn't try very hard. First, it's in a rundown area. I didn't feel unsafe, but it was very depressed. they can't help that, so I won't ding them too hard for it. (Though any "luxury hotel" should have better views than a parking lot/seedy motel/rundown hostel.) Second, it isn't an "inn." Inns usually have intimacy charm, not just glossy fixtures and an overhyped restaurant. The staff wasn't particularly friendly. The rooms were surface cleaned-- it was clear the floors were dusted only where they were easily reached. There was a ball of someone else's hair in our bathroom-- on our second day, so who knows how it got there. The hot water took several minutes to come to temperature. The steam shower was nice, though. The bed gave me backaches. Some said too hard, I'd venture that they are too soft. The breakfast was a real disappointment. The "choices" were coffee vs tea and OJ vs apple juice. The egg dish was chef's choice. Twice they sent a small quiche, the other time just a hard boiled egg (no salt/pepper though). What kind of chef made those choices? Granola, yogurt, croissants, and some slices of meat/cheese accompanied. Our tea carafe came with one tea bag for like 3-4 cups of water. I don't point out all of these things to nit pick-- just to show the lack of overall effort. Honestly, we had much better overall service at a Homewood Suites in Rochester where we stayed for the rest of the weekend for a wedding. It's sad that they beat out a so called boutique hotel, and a member of the Preferred Hotel Group.

If you plan to stay in Niagara Falls for either a honeymoon or special romantic trip, first off, consider staying in Niagara on the lake instead. If you really insist on staying in Niagara Falls (a big difference, believe me) stay here! Sterling markets itself as the only Boutique Hotel in town. Sure, it's independent. Does that make it boutique? Service was so-so. I had trouble getting somone to answer the phone when I needed to change my reservation. Finally, I sent an email that was received and confirmed the new dates. The "kitsch" factor that all Niagara hotels must have is present at Sterling, too. There is breakfast in bed! I really enjoyed this, actually. Promptly at the designated 15 minute interval that I chose, there was a knock at the door with our special vegetarian verstion (no ham) meal. Yogurt with granola, croissants, cheese, coffee and juice. It was a complete meal. We watched TV in the big, comfy, albeit hard bed. The other feature is that some rooms come with jacuzzi. (in room?) We ended up with a 'steam shower' room instead. We didn't get a chance to enjoy that. Our room also had a large terrace. Pity the view is the parking lot of a strip behind the big, tacky street in Niagara Falls.
Overall, I would recommend this, though the price is in the $200 range.Listed in: Niagara Wine region

I stayed there for my anniversary and it was really nice. The decor is very modern. The location is great. It close enough to everything but not in the midst of the madness. Also loved the steam showers.
