i'm scared to say it bc i've only been here once, but i think they won me over. dare i say it? i think ive found the best pizza joint in seattle.

i should add this doesn't take into consideration neapolitan pizza.  this is more in lines with proletariat, flying squirrel paggliacci's, etc.

stellar is cranking out some seriously stellar pizza !!!! the toppings were generous and it wasn't greasy.  the sauce perfect and the crust to die for. normally i toss the crust, not bc i don't like it, but i try to tell myself im doing the right thing by not ingesting the extra carbs. it was soooo good though i couldnt. i ate all if it. the crust is crispy and sweet.  the pizza itself is GINORMOUS. i took the leftovers home and everything about it was still amazing cold.

the beer selection..wow. can this place be any cooler? i think i have to give them one up on proletariat bc of their beers.  i think my next venture is to eat proletariat's pizza and stellar's side by side to give it the real test.

only live 5 minutes away from this place and i can't figure out why i haven't been here sooner.

I know at least one person who considers this the best pizza in Seattle, and he's a maniac for good food, so take my indifference with a grain of salt.

This is a very fun and cool place to hang out and have a beer and eat some pizza. They have a bar and restaurant side, so kids can tag along. It's in a very cool reclaimed space--gotta love Georgetown and what a great job this neighborhood does of reusing existing buildings to float new businesses.

The place has two big rooms. The all-ages side has tons of tables with bright orange plastic chairs; the bar side is a mishmash of booths and tables laid out around a cool rounded bar. The decorations are pretty much a mishmash of whatever they could find at a good price, with an eye toward making it feel like there's a mid-century space-race vibe happening. There's seating in a little fenced-off sidewalk section out front, complete with water dishes for the pups.

The service is super friendly and funny and cool; it's all a bunch of pierced and tattooed kids ranging from rockabilly types to people who probably have art spaces within a couple blocks of here. (I hate to reduce people to types, but some people really do wear their clique ID on their sleeves--still, they're awesomely fun and great at their jobs.)

The wine and cocktail lineups might or might not include much of any big interest, but they're definitely trying to get some kegs that not everybody has. The beer lineup has a nice variety, dark and light, forceful and restrained, and so on. They're really programming kegs for a wide variety of palates, not just throwing stuff behind the faucets.

The food unfortunately is just OK. Maybe I came in hoping it would be distinctly above average, having heard the hype, and put too much pressure on it or something. The caprese was definitely lacking in flavor. Comes out with some herbed, limp, un-toasted bread. Maybe it was a little stale from the day being a little warm yesterday, but it didn't add anything either with the caprese or as a mop-up. The tomato, cheese, and basil all tasted stale or otherwise underpowered, and the tomatoes were oddly oversweetened, so the effect of the dish was just a mushy mouthful of tomato sugar. Not the explosive flavors you want from this dish, and we didn't even finish half of it.

We had the Ellis pizza. The hand-tossed crust has good flavor and is nice and chewy, but it's just a huge mouthful of bread in the end because it's so heavy. I like some heavy crusts now and then, but you really have to turn the whole thing into a lasagna when you have a heavy crust, so a couple slices feel like more than a meal in terms both of how full you are and how sated the flavors leave you. These guys are looking for a light touch with the toppings, and the crust ends up overwhelming what's on it. The Ellis has some incredibly mild sausage on it, some red peppers that didn't add much other than sweetness, and some very intermittently applied roast garlic that didn't really light up with flavor until the next morning.

These guys definitely know what they're doing, but it seems like they need to bump up the quality of their ingredients a little to get across the flavors and the impact of the recipes. Still, I'd happily hang out here again. If I opened a pizza place, I'd want it to be a lot like this. They have the vibe and the approach exactly right.

It was a little bit of a drive over here from downtown, but we wanted to check out the photo booth and stop in for a snack.

I guess we will go back on our next trip to Seattle to try the pizza since it seems to be a popular place. We did try the jalapeno artichoke dip and that item was my girlfriend's favorite entree while in Seattle on vacation. So give that a try on your next visit to Stellar.

The pizza is good, with a lot of different options for toppings and different 'styles' of pizza as well.  Beer selection is nice.  Usually not too busy, meaning not much of a wait for a table (been here a few different times with little wait)

However, to get here you have to go to Georgetown, you have to find the place (try not to get back on I-5, as basically everyone does their first time), and if you have a stomach like my sister, her husband, a few friends, and myself there is a chance you will be visiting the restroom sooner rather than later......is it worth it???  Yep, once in a while.

This is one of my absolute all time pizza joints in Seattle.  My husband thinks I'm nuts. We have the epic ongoing pizza debate about what is the most important aspect of good pizza.  I like thin crust, loads of goat cheese and mushrooms and veggies, and he likes doughy crust with lots of meat.  If you are like me, you will like Stellar.  If you are like my husband, you will not.  The good news is, you can get a big fat calzone.

Top menu choice:  The "Carleton". Omg mouthwatering toppings.  Even better as leftovers.

I love their beer selection as well, and they serve Dick's Danger Ale (and other local favorites) by the pitcher.  The pizza is a tad expensive but the pies are pretty big and pitchers of beer are cheap.

Ayyye, this is a kewl late nite bite, yo. My half vale vegan pizza was really good and looked it. I wasn't sure about the beer so I asked my waitress, Bridey (brye-dee), about something and she was more than happy to offer me some tastings. Sweet! She came back and I was thinking about tasting a ho, so she brought me one of that, too. That's 3 + 1 = 4 total tastings and free! She was great and a charming lady. I was feeling something dark, so I went with a dicks danger ale schooner. The space is... well it's already been spoken for. :P It's cool and all that divey-jazz.

As the receipt says, my server was bad ass.

    Great place!  Why?

    1.  Very good service.
    2.  Unique pizza.  Lots of toppings that most places wouldn't dream of.
    3.  They offer pizza by the slice.
    4.  Lots of great beers on tap.
    5.  Casual atmosphere, cool decor.
    6.  One side of the restaurant is great for kids; the other side is great for heavy drinking.
    7.  Cool juke box and pinball machines.
    8.  Outdoor dining/drinking.
    9.  ATM inside for emergencies--more drinks when the wallet gets empty.
    10.  Many cool, free newspapers to read when waiting for pizza.
    11.  Snappy take-out service.
    12.  Private parking lot--that is usually full.
    13.  Ultra Man is hanging from the ceiling to protect patrons from villains.

Good Chicago style pizza (thicker crust).  Definitely thicker than Paggliacci.  Their tomato sauce is perfect, I just wish they put more on the pizza.  The vibe of the place is very chill.

Wow... I'm a big pizza person.  I like a hefty pizza.  You know, the pizza that you can only eat a few slices because the topping and cheese and bread is just oh-so-good.  This place is it.   In fact, I could only eat 2 slices and typically I eat 4 of the crapper pizzas.   I would also say it's more thicker than new york but not as pie-like as chicago.  You know, the perfect pizza you had in junior high and high school.  Very easy to get to coming from the airport (going to downtown) and it's open late (since my flight landed at 9pm).       Also get the home brewed root beer.

WOW!!!  I am so skeptical, when I go to pizza joints, because the pizza is usually thin crust.  I like deep dish (Chicago) versus thin crust (NY).  My wife and kids ordered a pizza, which looked between a deep dish and thin and I was told by the waitress to order a calzone.  She told me that her boyfriend can eat one calzone the entire week.  Being skeptical, I ordered it expecting to have no leftovers.  Needless to say, I will have leftovers for a few days.  :-)  Quite tasty and humongous!  Also a great beer selection and retro decor.  We loved the place!  I can't wait to go back!

From my blog Baby In A Bar (http://www.babyinabar....)....

You might not think that the Georgetown neighborhood would be a good place to take a baby for an afternoon out.  Well, unfortunately, you would be correct.  Most bars in super-cool Georgetown will not only frown upon your baby's arrival, they will, in fact, remove your baby from the premises.  However, there is one very notable exception:  Stellar Pizza.

Yep, this amazing pizza joint will welcome you and your baby with open arms.  In fact, you even have your own entrance, you're that extra special.  Well, actually, it's just that the main door opens up to the actual bar, and as the sign outside helpfully points out, yes, babies are minors too.  So use the door to the right of the main entrance so as not to be yelled at.

The non-bar area is totally doable for you and your baby.  We had the hummer (AKA Graco Snugride Stroller 2000) with us, and we could navigate it around the joint.  Booths are big enough for the carseat to fit in next you so you can enjoy your beer and make sure your baby is still asleep at the same time.  Speaking of beer, there are lots of great options on tap here, including Elysian's pumpkin beer, hooray!

Pizza is amazing - I totally recommend the Orcas, a white pizza with feta, artichokes, and garlic.  We also had a pepporoni which had amazing sauce but was way too greasy.  Note that Stellar offers half pizzas so you can try more than one type.  They are huge, so we had enough left over for another meal.  Great service too.  Friendly, not annoyed by the baby in a bar.  Note that pizzas take 25-30 minutes to bake so if your baby is edging toward crabby, you might want to try a sammie instead.

Oh, and this place is totally cool for older kids as well.  I saw crayons and coloring options as well as kids who had just finished their soccer game.  Stellar is sort of a cool cross between being a divey bar and a local family pizza parlor.  Nice combo.  Don't try and change a diaper here though - definitely no room in the bathrooms.

IMPORTANT:  Stellar does not open until 3pm on weekends.

    Stellar continues to be awesome.

As an added layer to the awesome-cake, though, Stellar has been amazing in answering allergy-related questions about their offerings and handling my kid's non-nut severe food allergy.

I still love the Homer - despite hating Hawaiian pizzas - and the Beanie.  I live right up on Beacon Hill now, so these guys can count on continuing to see more of our business.

No, you can't have separate checks. No, you can't have more than 1 card per table. The waitress was a snarky brat and the meatballs in my spaghetti tasted like the frozen kind you get from the grocery store. Sick. Never returning. Far better places in Georgetown to spend my money.

I've had the pizza here a few times and it's pretty good. Not quite as good as some of the other places I've had but it does rank up there. The crust isn't quite as chewy as I like it, but they do go lighter on the cheese instead of making it too greasy.

I really like atmosphere here - it's very laid back and mellow with just a touch of snark. The posters and signs on the wall amuse me greatly and I enjoyed chatting with the bartender while waiting to pick up a large order for work.

I've been here a couple times, and it's a pretty good place to go if you're looking for a decent meal and great service.  I've had the pizza here a couple times, and it's no where near as good as Via Tribunali right down the street, but if you're looking for a cheaper alternative (to Via) this would be it.

Get a beer in the bar while you're having the pizza, enjoy the great service and low key atmosphere inside, it's a great place to go :)

We were on the hunt for Georgetown brewing thinking that they had a brew pub----stupid I know,  as they for sure don't.  One of the people we were with had been to Stellar  and we decided to stopthere for pizza and beer.

What a great find!   The menu offered lots of vegetarian options, the greek salad was HUGE and full of good things and the pizza was awesome (make note that on the menu it states that it can take 30 minutes for pizza, but it is worth the wait).  The waitress was very good about explaining portion size and even recommended that the three of us split on large greek salad before the pizza arrived as it was so big instead of three half orders----nice customer service and she was spot on.

Great beer selection and drinks.  We had a great time and will for sure go back.  This is a gem in Georgetown.

I've been to Stellar several times visiting friends who live in the South End. I only wish I lived closer so I could make it a regular spot!

Where do I begin? In a neighborhood better known for cheap hookers, toxic waste, and "industrial chic" hipsters, I was blown away by the quality of the food and drink at Stellar.

Drinks are strong and they will knock you sideways if you're not careful...Georgetown is a tough neighborhood to be in late at night for transportation, so make sure you have a sober-ish designated driver if you're gonna make a night of it.

From their pizza menu, go with the White Orcas (fetta cheese and artichoke hearts on an olive oil base), Carleton (goat cheese and mushrooms on a pesto base), or the Georgetowner (meat lover's pizza taken to a whole new level). These pizzas are great quality and will leave you breathless. You may never go back to your run-of-the mill pizzeria again!

The place is cozy and laid-back enough to accommodate many distinctly Georgetown vibes. Some nights I've been here and the place is packed with the young trendy crowd, on others a mix of locals and/or bikers. Depending on the night, this could mean either kind of "bikers" - the Harley kind or the Critical Mass kind. Both scenes have a lot going on in the Georgetown area. Prices are not cheap (about $18-23 for a large pizza), but then again you're paying for outstanding quality-pizza that they make by hand.

You'd be a fool to not check out Stellar if you're in the area!

I actually come here for the calzones more than the pizza, but that is saying a lot because I am a HUGE fan of the calzone.  I usually skip them at most places because the crust is all wrong, or there isn't a good balance of fillings to crust, but here they get it just right.  Just be sure to bring a friend, since they are pretty darn big.

I also highly recommend the jalepeno artichoke dip, which doesn't skimp on the peppers.  Wash it all down with a can of Strongbow or one of their Georgetown centric beers on tap and you are in for a treat.

I moved out of the neighborhood, but I'll keep coming back! (Just a heads up they have a policy about only one credit card per check so be prepared if you come with a large party.)

Walking distance from my house and I swear I don't come here enough! The georgetowner is my ultimate fave and they have great caesar salad, be warned that it is covered with anchovies, WHICH I LOVE!! I've also tried the hawaiian pizza and the greek, but still preferred the georgetowner. Recently had the eggplant parm which was yummy!

There's a via tribunali down the street, but Stellar is way better, in my opinion. They are closed on Mondays now, not sure when that started.

I've visited Stellar a few times yet have always left somewhat disappointed. They have a few things going for them; a unique menu and a respectable beer list, but the service, price, and the long wait times bring down the overall experience.

They have a unique list of pizzas and each is heartily layered with toppings. However, you will always wait too long to get your food and it won't end up blowing your mind when you get it. I've had experiences waiting more than an hour for an order. They also sport a very respectable list of beers including many local brews, however they charge way too much. On our last visit I couldn't believe my eyes when they charged me $6.50 for a local pilsner that is never more than $4.50 anywhere else.

Now, why only give them two stars? The service is consistently bad. They will not pay attention to you once you've entered, and you'll have to flag them down for anything that you want. You want a drink? Be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes until you are able to get the attention of somebody. You want to place an order? Be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait.

Finally, the reason I sat down to write this review today. My last visit actually left me angry. They have a "policy" of only one credit card per table. They have the capability to split a check, like any other restaurant does, but they simply refuse to. It becomes a very awkward situation when you have a large group. You'll be forced to use their ATM to get cash if you weren't prepared. You can also forget about trying to close out part of the table if someone needs to leave early. They simply refuse to do it. I found this maddening and was not prepared for it. This is something I've never seen at any other restaurant in this city. They seriously need to rethink this policy before they lose customers over it.

Will I go back? Maybe, but it will be with reluctance. I've calmed down now since the last vist and maybe they'll give me reason someday to give them more stars. However, I'll probably opt to go to one of the friendlier and cheaper establishments in the area instead.

So after trying to come here on a Monday for lunch and finding them closed, we returned on Tuesday with success.  We sat ourselves and were promptly waited on.  The service was quick and attentive the entire time without being annoying.  Perusing the menu, we got a little sticker shock....The pizza looks really good but  $26.50 for a pizza?!  $15 for a calzone?!  $10.50 for a sandwich?  OK...I tried the the Lasagna with side salad and bread $11.50.
Everything tasted great...I really like the sauce, but the serving size left something to be desired for the price. It was just fine for lunch, but I would be disappointed if I was really hungry and ordered that at dinner.  My friend ordered the meatball sandwich and it just looked measly...again....for the price.  The table next to ours ordered sandwiches, and they all looked smallish....Another place down the street has better, cheaper sandwiches, but worse service....hmmm?

"No Split Checks, One Card Per Table"  printed on the receipt and circled by our waitress....Thanks a lot.... Grrrrrr  (probably not her fault)

    2.5 stars....Meh - OK

I like the vegetarian options, especially the sandwiches.  I avoid the salads, though... for some reason, every time I've had one, they're just... off?  Also, bring cash (or checks, if you do that sort of thing) if you plan on splitting a check up.
One other thing: this passive-aggressive stuff with servers in this city has got to stop.  It's not just Stellar, but we had a prime example here: one of us asked why they don't do separate checks (purely out of curiosity, no snark added), even if you let them know about it in the beginning.  Our server replies, "I don't make the rules!"  Yeah, well, you DO have an effect on your tips!

Fairly large selection of pizzas, sandwiches, pasta, and salads. We almost always have great service - when they are busy it is slow, but that is because they are busy!

We have come to learn to avoid the family friendly side of the restaurant - too many kids and we don't enjoy ourselves. So kudos to Stellar for having the family side!

So, so, so disappointed that they are now closed on Monday. Horrible realization when you have been craving Stellar all day! Even worse when you then drive to Proletariat to give them a shot and realize you have just thrown your Stellar money in the trash.

After hearing tons of good things from other Yelpers I decided to give this place a try and wow, was it good.

I had the meatball sub, which was huge, but still edible-by-hand (I didn't have to cut it or just eat the meatballs with a fork). Spicy, but not overwhelmingly so and the bread was warm and just the right size. I hate it when you get a sandwich that's 90% bread or the bread's all hard.

Massive beer list, and the pizzas looked/smelled delicious, I just didn't feel like ordering one, nor did the friend I went to lunch with - it's not really a slices place, so be prepared to order a whole pie if pizza's what you want.

And compared to other places in Georgetown this restaurant is huge - plenty of seating, even for a large group (but might want to call ahead and reserve a space in that case).

And a big thank you to our server who even apologized when I had to ask for napkins a second time. Usually once the servers at most places get busy if you even get what you need it's kind of thrown at you with a look of "If you needed extra whatever you should have come with it on your own".

This place actually has parking, that's shared with some of the other places on the same block, but I've gotten lucky 9 out of 10 times and found myself a spot.

We went on a Saturday night around 7pm and it was packed! We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and he was amazingly attentive on a busy night. We ordered a 1/2 sized caesar salad and there was plenty to share. The sausage pizza was a generous size and the ingredients were fresh. The crust was more of a bready consistency than that of a traditional thin and crispy or thick and chewy crusts. There's a decent selection of beer on tap. I like the vintage "kitchy" decor, like the Starsky and Hutch poster in the ladies room and the painting of Johnny Cash in near the entrance. The vibe is casual and the crowd is diverse. It's a nice neighborhood pizza joint.

Amazing grinders, pizza, and other specials.  Had the home made from scratch chicken pot pie last time in with green salad.  They take the extra step here, the pie crust was light airy and crisp and tasted better than mom used to make.   The accompanying greens salad was also great, no iceberg cardboard, only nice mixed greens and spinach!

Also try the white orcas pizza!  If i could take off 1/4 point it would be because they don't take more than one credit card, though I've been told about 3 times that they would do it, but just remember next time.

I love the Eggplant Rustica. It's a grinder style sandwich that quite simply, makes me happy I'm alive.

Large hunks of breadcrumbed eggplant, covered in a chunky tangy marinara, and sandwiched lovingly into a massive french baguette. For the green salad that comes along side (if that's your poison), I suggest the balsamic dressing.

For $10 w/tax this is probably one of the best lunch/ dinner deals in the city. This would have run me $12-15 anywhere else.

God I love this place. Sit at the bar if you go when you're alone. There will be no shortage of fun banter between the staff and the regulars... just bring a willingness to chat it up and you'll be good.

I've often eyeballed this place as we drive through Georgetown on our way to Sounders games, and recently on Sunday afternoon we finally stopped.

I was really looking forward to the pizza because I'd heard so many good things. Thanks to the poor customer service, I got to spend plenty more time looking forward to our pizza.

There seemed to be no one waitress assigned to our table, so even though it didn't seem to busy and they were decently staffed, order-taking, fork delivery and everything else was a long process. It seemed like we were more of an annoyance than anything to them. The best part was when we got to watch our pizza sit in the kitchen window for over 15 minutes before my husband finally went and asked "is that our pizza?" The server explained condescendingly that they were "very busy" and we needed to wait.

The pizza (yukon gold potato pizza) was good. It wasn't hot, which probably would have helped. I guess we're just not cool enough for Stellar pizza.
