There are no single words to describe The Station Square pub. This diamond in the rough watering hole is a unique blend of neighborhood pub and rock bar that isn't found in the Lower Mainland. Most places adhere to a certain protocol appealing to either daily regulars or tourists and transients. The Station Square has smartly decided to cater to both, and the results are intriguing.
It's only steps away from Metrotown Mall in the heart of the Station Square. Under new management, (all women by the way) they have created a format that most other bars and pubs have shied away from. They believe that entertainment is the new level of excellence when it comes to servicing their customers. Every night of the week they have something going on that is different and unique from anywhere else in the city. On Wednesday is karaoke from 9-12pm. On Thursday they have "Come play with the DJ". Here, the DJ plays music by request and turns the bar into a human board game. They play Human Horse Racing, Trike racing, and Rock and Roll Roulette to name a few of his extravaganzas. The guy is hilarious and knows how to keep you entertained throughout the night. On Fridays they have Music Bingo with the same DJ and all request music afterwards. No one else in the city does all request on a Friday. On the weekends they have quality bands and trios who know how to bring the roof down. Which thankfully doesn't literally happen since the Holiday Inn pool is directly above them.
The best part about the Station Square is their lack of uniformity. The servers and bartenders are hilarious. They will serve you any drink you can think of with either a smile or a playful insult. One server, Tracy, will actually insult you into buying another drink. The funniest part is that she's no bigger than 5 feet tall, but she has an attitude of a professional wrestler. Everyone who goes there loves her!
They are sweet people who care about every person that walks in the door. They have regulars who don't have a single bad thing to say about the place and staff, and every time I go there, I'm treated like a king...
Or rather, a bastard king as Tracy would say!

This pub always kinda freaked me out and I suspected it was always much smaller and probably full of the creepiest of old men. I judged this book by it's cover and usually walked a few paces faster as I passed it.

Until one day me and my friends were having a good by gathering for a coworker on what we discovered last minute was a UFC night and there wasn't a chance in hell of getting a reservation for 18 anywhere in the city that served alcohol! Then a friend suggested Station Square and after much argument and several people deciding not to come because it is "creepy" we found our watering hole for the evening.

When it was just me and my girlfriend waiting on everyone else it was pretty creepy and when I went to take a sip of my water I immediately spat it on the ground (and a little on myself) because the straw tasted like salt! The waitress (must be the one Nicole F mentioned) was friendly but oddly intense. Overall bad first impression.

By the time our food and friends started to arrive the mood lightened and it became far less creepy. Soon the booze was free flowing and it became a pretty fun environment. They have a juke box with cheezy tunes, pool table and some nights they have a DJ in later in the evening.

I really enjoyed their nachos, so much so that a few days later on New Years when I was all haggard and in serious need of greasy carbs I went there just for nachos. It's a decent place to have mid day pub grub, pretty quiet just a few regulars at the bar chatting up the bartender.

Overall much better then I had anticipated.

This is kind of an odd pub. I seem to end up in here about once a year.. yet I always get the same waitress. She's pretty unforgettable. I'm not sure if she is high or if she is just like that but she is super energetic and a little intense.

I remember the drink prices being decent.. the bill was on someone else last night so I don't have an actual number for you.

We made the mistake of trying to go for drinks during the last little bit of the Superbowl so it was a little loud in there, but it did quiet down nicely after the game ended and cleared up a bit.

I'll be back.. probably in a year.. This place is always a safe bet if I'm confused, sober and stuck near the hell that is Metrotown.

This place used to be part of the adjacent hotel some years back, but then they separated somehow and it is now independent. i recall some pretty tasty food as far as pub fare goes, but that's changed dramatically and now i won't eat there at all. also, it's kinda sketched out, and i can sometimes dig that but not so much in this place.

still, they try to have stuff going on (i caught a poker tourney there today) and it's the only bar to get a drink in the immediate area i know of, unless you wanna sit a red robin's or boston pizza, but they aren't really my scene either, so i choose this place.

the prices are fair, and the service is friendly. it's a bar. it's fine.

I have been there a couple of times. It is ok, a regular pub style bar. Never had the food there so no comment. Good location that is for sure. No real drink stands out. It is just average and it shows.

This place is pretty rockin, the staff are pretty spunky and its a nice place to chill out, its really casual. Good for a laugh also a good place to kill time while waiting for a movie, slam back a pitcher, which, by the way, is pretty reasonable in the pricing. Always makes for a good movie heheheh. On the flipside, its always open for after a crappy movie, either way its great! Right next to metrotown station, easy access for everyone!
