Review from Edward L.
Out of all of the Starbucks locations, this is one of my favourites.
So what's so special about this one?
1) Location. Few people know it exists. This one is tucked away DOWNSTAIRS and INSIDE the station, not out on street level (yes, there's another Starbucks literally 50m from this one).
2) Generous seating. Because of the layout, there's a "lounge" section that is a bit isolated from the general traffic. Makes things cozy. For those in wheelchairs, there's even a wheelchair-accessible table!
3) Great customer service. The baristas here know me by name, and I notice this is also true for many of the other regulars. I don't feel like a sheep compared to most other locations.
4) Samples! I'm a sucker for these things, and for some reason I seem to come across them more often here than other locations. May have something to do with the time of day though.
The only downside? This place is closed on Sundays and statutory holidays. Been caught a few times. Oh, and it closes relatively early at 1800.
If you can find it (muwahaha), check it out. You won't regret it. -

The coffee offered at this Starbucks was identical to every other location. Starbucks hired a marketing research company that determined their customers wanted consistency. Someone forgot to tell headquarters that didn't have to mean consistently crappy.
Anyhow this location has been seized by bailiffs. I'm not happy to hear about any business failing. And I do hope the employees find work elsewhere. They were friendly and did the best they could with an inferior product. Howeverrrrrrr...
Starbucks does one thing and one thing only. Serve coffee. That's their raison d'etre. If they can't do that right then they were bound to fail.
What I dislike most about Starbucks is the fact that they have mis-educated an entire generation of Vancouverites into thinking their product is what coffee is actually supposed to taste like. They buy massive quantities of inferior beans and burn them to get rid of the impurities. Then market this flavour to people as, not defective but the norm.
Anyway this place is gone and I think that's actually a good thing for the coffee scene in Vancouver. Not because I'm on an anti-corporate crusade. I'm just pro-coffee.
If you're a fan of Starbucks I'm sorry. But you could buy a bag of charcoal briquettes, soak them in water and drink that*. It will taste at least as good. Alternatively, check out any number of small independent coffee shops in Vancouver. Here are some suggestions:
Momento. Kafkas. Nelson the Seagull. Innocent Coffee. Elyssian. Agro.
These shops are owned and operated by knowledgeable folks who love coffee. No attitude. No arrogance. Just really great, really fresh coffee.

Review from Lindsay W.
North Vancouver, BC
Okay, so... I do have a general dislike for starbucks coffee... but for some reason I end up in here at least twice a week.
The reason I'm writing a 4 star review is for the Peppermint Mocha. Just like a little peppermint patty melting in my mouth, it was delicious. Whipped cream and little shreds of chocolate on top. So good!
Plus I saw the manager wrestle the cream canister out of a homeless man's hands. That added at least half a star.
Enjoy! -

I've been to quite a few Starbucks in downtown and this one sticks out.
They're located in Granville Station on Dunsmuir Side. And i can tell you that this has been a great one. Most staff are pleasant, and well mannered. They generally focus on customer service and have fun contests once in a while. Apparently they have a count the bean contest where you can win up to ten free drinks.
I think the best thing is that they actually stir their mocha, and ask if you want whip cream on the drink first.
What makes this a great location is the comfy couches. They have five of them that can be sat in. But there's plenty of seating most days. -

Just to clarify - this is about the Starbucks on the CORNER of Seymour and Dunsmuir ( the entrance is facing Seymour St. I believe) - NOT the Starbucks located inside the skytrain station. The Starbucks on the CORNER. Sorry for any confusion.
