Review from John R.
Only reason for me to go to this Starbucks is for when I'm in a hurry and don't want to go in the mall. Good quality and I like that it's attached to a book store, so you can enjoy your drink and a book.

It's nice that this place is within a book store, so if you left your magazine or book at home and want to read while refuelling, or are stocking up on some literary items and need a caffeine fix, you're in the right spot.
That said, I've experienced poor service here. Maybe it's the cramped quarters behing the little counter space, but the staff seem out of their element slinging drinks. Twice I've witnessed them pouring my drink down the sink because they made the wrong thing or grabbed the wrong flavour shot. That said, when I usually do get my drink of choice (usually some form of ice tea lemonade as I don't drink coffee), it's on par with the drinks I get at other Starbucks.
The location needs a bit of a revamp. More comfortable seating and reading areas to invite people to really take advantage of Starbuck's hospitality would go a long way, I think.
Unless I happen to already be in Chapters when a caffeine craving hits, I'll likely wait until I make it across the parking lot to the newly installed Mic Mac location for some people-watching instead of book-reading. -

The original dart. Location. Still a favorite spot. But the drive threw in the crossing is a bit more Convinant for me most times

I agree with most of what the previous review said.
I've been coming to this location for years and do like the typical coffee shop + book store concept. I've had really good runs of service and quality at this location that would've netted at least 3 if not 4 stars. However, the inconsistency of this location and maybe all locations is the frustration. I can overlook this somewhat -- although, there must be a recipe for Chai Lattes and much of it comes from a box! How can each taste so different?
I leave that for a moment... this 2 star rating comes from the customer service - I've had better at Chicago O'Hare airport (random? perhaps, but true - big city busy hub airport gave better service). I'm big on being polite - call me crazy - and it is as simple as a smile and a friendly hi, hey, what up. That is not what I got. No smile from the young lady - I swear I had showered not an hour earlier - more like a frown. I don't even think she said anything, just looked at me to give the order.
The barista dude was no better. The typical shout out of the drink that was up. And no response to my eye contact and thank you. Nada. The drink was fine, but far from the best I've had. The Blueberry Crumble square thingy was better good. -

As one of the original Starbucks locations in the maritimes, it certainly did the trick up until the surge of new locations that have opened in the past few years. Now though, with flagship locations in place across the city, I feel like the standards haven't been raised at this one that is integrated with a local Chapters.
Staff usually seem at least somewhat annoyed that you're there, I've had very sarcastic treatment and have witnessed eyerolls between employees, and even impromptu food fights using baked goods at the end of a day. The drinks are consistent, but with this sort of service, I'm usually ready to drive the extra mile and head over to Dartmouth Crossing for the real Starbucks experience. -
Review from Amy W.
This has always been my Starbucks of choice mostly because of the convenient location, close to work and to where I used to live. The staff are definitely hot and cold - sometimes great, sometimes abysmal. I like the connection to Chapters but it can be hard to find a seat as there tend to be lots of lingerers. Right now, as I type this review, it's raining outside and every so often water drips onto my keyboard, so I should probably go tell the baristas the ceiling is about to cave in. Good wireless, lots of reading material, but very loud and can be hard to find a seat.
