Looks quaint from the outside, but its closed during the off season. Which you won't find out until after you've parked, paid for parking, freshened your face, unbuckled the kids, gotten everyone's shoes and socks on, and wasted fifteen minutes of your life.  Boo!

    A Vancouver tradition since 1911.

I had a nice lunch here one time with my ex-wife. We were in Vancouver for the weekend and were on bikes as we were peddling around Stanley Park. We had just finished our visit to the Vancouver Aquarium and were up for Lunch.

Stanley's Park Bar & Grill is located in the Stanley Park Pavilion and within the Rose Gardens. It's a gorgeous location and view, features a neat mountain chalet-type architecture, and was a great place to hang out and take it all in. The food and service were also good enough as to complement the entire experience. The Pavilion also does a robust banquet/wedding business and is a bit pricey.

After an extra long drive from Calgary we freshened up at the hotel and decided to hit up the Vancouver Aquarium which btw is $27 per person.  After the aquarium we were pretty hungry and were looking for some place to eat,  we happen to spot Stanley's Park Bar & Grill and decided to give it a try.  It was about 8PM and there were 2 parties ahead of us so we glanced at the menu while we waited.

When we got seated our server took a while to come greet us.  I knew that he was busy but we were hungry!!   We saw the fish selection and thought we should go with that because we're in Vancouver, right by the Ocean...should be great!! Finally, when he came by our table we were all ready to order.  We asked to start off with the Tuna Tacos and I ordered the Wild BC Salmon burger with a poutine instead of regular fries and Spence ordered the Fish(Salmon) n Chips.  Another server came to drop our food off...everything arrived at the same time. -_-  Our server then came by our table and apologized and said it was his mistake.  By that time, we didn't care because all we wanted to do was eat!

So we dug into the Tuna Tacos (3 tacos)... They were pretty much store bought tortilla wraps with pieces of tuna sprinkled with cheese and salsa which tasted store bought as well and we found the salsa was overpowering the taste of the tuna. We weren't impressed. Then I moved to my burger....ick!!  The salmon was very rare in the center, I didn't appreciate that but I ate the cooked sides of it.  It was very bland tasting.  Then the poutine....soggy!! Needless to say, my meal was a disaster!! :(  Moving on to Spencer's meal...the fish n chips.  I had a taste and it wasn't as bad as the tacos and my burger.  He thoroughly enjoyed it but didn't hesitate to mentioned he's had better.

To top that off, our glasses we empty for pretty much the whole meal and our server kept walking by our table and didn't acknowlege the fact we wanted more water.  FINALLY after we had our napkins on our plates because we were done...he came by. ANOTHER -_-'

I must add, that our server wasn't rude at all...he just seemed kind of not with it.  Oh well. -_-.

Will we venture on back to this bar and grill?? Absolutley not!

After spending several snot-covered hours at the aquarium, getting sneezed on and trampled by all sorts of small sick bastard kids (no offense to all of the parents out there), we were aching for a leisurely stroll through Stanley Park and maybe some high tea at the pavillion. Well, we get to the pavillion and were promptly informed that high tea was no longer being offered at the park. I think the banquet hall (or whatever it is) is only reserved for special events now, like weddings and stuff. Anyway, we were disappointed but decided to stay at the bar & grill for a quick snack.

The steamed mussels came with a few slivers of garlicky baguette. The white wine sauce was so good that we were both drinking it up like a pair of beasts. B had a pint of some random local mountain ale, which he really enjoyed, and I had a frozen lemonade.

The food wasn't spectacular, but the view and vibe more than made up for whatever was lacking. Our server was also exceptionally sweet. I shan't think that I will return, but I very much enjoyed the visit.

We ate here on a Monday around 3. Service was quick and friendly. Ordered fish & chips and it came out fast and hot.
Fries were cooked to the perfect crispness.  Fish was so good and tasty. The batter is divine. I would recommend as a good end to a day at Stanley Park.
It is a little pricey but worth it.

Decided to check this place out after an afternoon of walking the sea wall, The place looked nice.  cute little restaurant in the middle of Stanley Park. My friend and I were greeted by a very unfriendly petite Asian woman who was not very friendly or courteous at all, Thankfully everyone else we dealt with was nothing like her but still, the way we had been treated by her stuck around and from what I could tell by the way she was with everyone else it was the same unfriendly manner.

The menu is small, your basic salad, burger and fish & chip choices.
A bit on the pricey side for the quality that you get I would say.

My friend ordered the calamari, she said it was good.
I ordered the halibut fish and chips it was OK. Far from the best but not the worst. The fish however did taste somewhat like those fish sticks my mom used to make for me when I was a kid, ya know the ones with the captain on the front of the box? Anyways yeah, best part of my meal was the Raspberry Lemonade but again, you could go anywhere for this.

Would I go back to Stanley's park and grill?
    Most likely not.
Would I recommend this restaurant to a friend?
    Again, No.

Take your money elsewhere because you basically paying for the location.

We stopped in here for a lunch with friends about two years ago and were disappointed by the menu. The location is gorgeous and we loved the green views from the patio.

I had a classic burger, which failed to live up to standard burger expectations. After asking the waitress if the patties were homemade (and she said yes), the suspiciously perfectly formed disc raised my eyebrow. That's not a good thing.

Prices are a little steep (can't quote exact figures as I am digging back in my memory here) and I won't make the special trip to return here. A decent spot for a beer and perhaps an appetizer, but with all of Vancouver's restaurant options do head somewhere else for dinner.

It's a good out-of-towner place based on the location. Considering its long history (open since 1911), it'd be sweet if they could revamp the menu and cooking to provide a tasty and historical dinner spot.

The service here was great, but the food was a bit off. I had the burger, Seems that most places in Vancouver don't ask you how you want it cooked, as they normally cook it well "for safety reasons", so I wasn't all that concerned when our waitress brought out the burger.

Now, I dont mind a rare burger, but this was RARE...like almost still mooing rare. It really kind of soured the rest of the meal, but a burger should never be served that rare unless asked for

Really good seafood chowder, in fact some of the best I have had. Liked the Whistler Honey Lager too, so much that I had it several time when up in Alaska.

Sis and I found this place because we were starving and trapped in Stanley Park by the huge crowds during a holiday weekend.  We had done the aquarium (actually escaped after a relatively short visit because of all the kids), and found our way through the park to this establishment.  As with many places in Vancouver, plan on opening your wallet and pouring out the cash.  I got a veggie burger, and salad (that came with no dressing), and Sis got fish and chips.  We had a couple of beers with our food, and were satisfied, but not excited by the food.

Wanted to go here for lunch on April 28th.  A beautiful sunny spring day.  65 degrees all the flowers in the park in full bloom.  BUT NO!  They are closed from September through May.  IDIOTS!  No signage anywhere saying they are closed.  Went to their website and found it on the bottom of the page.  That kind of info. should be top & center.  Instead had lunch at the Black Bear Pub near Lynn Canyon & it was great!

Pretty standard pub food menu in a gorgeous spot near the Rose Garden in Stanley Park.  Service was friendly and efficient, even on the crowded sunny Saturday afternoon we were there.  Got fish and chips and a Granville Island Brewery pale ale, which hit the spot in the heat.

Nice place to grab lunch, but definitely more about the location than the food.
