Summer time, on the roller blades, or on a bike. This is the place to be. The view at Prospect Point just after you pass under the Lions Gate Bridge is breathtaking. Nothing like it. If your a local and you have not been, go now, if your a tourist and you have not been go now.
One of the best places in Vancouver. -
Review from Jando S.
City parks don't come any better than Stanley in Vancity. It is the Central Park of the west, easily the one of the most beautiful natural regions off the Pacific. Stanley Park gives Vancouver another edge over most west coast cities, becoming a must-visit for all who touch down in British Columbia.
It's the perfect place for a lot of things in life: bicycle riding, meditation, people watching, cruising, teenage makeout session, hiking, the perfect photo op, or even a simple stroll along the water front. At approximately 1,000 acres, it's larger than Central Park but has fewer playgrounds and only 4 restaurants. It is no less breathtaking at every turn, every angle, and every corner of the park. Stanley Park is truly an incredible wonderland of nature's best.
Stanley Park is beautiful year round, best in summer, yet still beautiful in during the fall and winter Vancouver drizzle. I always encourage folks to check out the many natural wonders of the park, it's big enough for folks to enjoy however they'd like. The Vancouver Aquarium and the Miniature Train are great for the children.
The only time I'd be weary of coming here is at night. It's not particularly well lit and no one should be here any later than daylight allows. That's not to suggest it's dangerous here but who knows what is lurking in the bushes? Local wildlife or creeps up to no good certainly apply.
People can spend their entire vacation here and find something meaningful. It is a testament to how amazing Vancity truly is as a city, the best in Canada.Listed in: Vancouver, Canada's Finest…

Beautiful park! Amazing weather when I was there. Got out of the car with my insignificant other and it was windy and snowing. 15 mins later it was clear skies and absolutely gorgeous.
Be sure to go take a walk along the waterfront you won't be disappointed! -
Review from Ethan T.
A very short walk from down town, heck this might even be part of down town. Though the moment you start to walk out the bridge you may as well be in the middle of a park set in the middle of nowhere. There are sea lions or seals, I can never tell them apart, playing in the water by the docked boats, totem polls welcome you into the park, and the forest rises up in front of you. There is a path that circles the island which yields great views of the sky line, the water, and even lions gate bridge (which you will recognize from the production company picture.
The path takes you up and down hills, past beaches, as well as the starts to the paths that lead you into the interior.
The first time I was here I walked the edge of the island on this path and felt good, but it is not a short walk. In my return visits I have found the path and the interior paths to be excellent early morning running trails. Just be sure to stop and notice how wild the vegetation and local animals are. I found leaves that we're bigger than my head, and banana slugs (I think) that were longer than my size 12 shoes.
I love this city park, and I honestly think Vancouver is my favorite city in north America, so I am a bit tainted because this is such a standard part to my visits.
Oh, and that beach I mentioned, clean nice, not the softest sand, and be prepared for your heart to skip a beat when you put your foot in the water. -

Oh, Lord Stanley's Park. You have come to represent all that is wonderful about living in Vancouver. You are beautiful and vast, and you blend urbanity and the natural world so perfectly. Your towering evergreens are magnificent to behold, and your totem poles pay tribute to the First Nations and a harmonious way of living with nature. Your seawall encourages us to keep fit, while your Malkin Bowl reminds us to have fun. You truly are Vancouver's crown jewel.
I've had so many memorable experiences in Stanley Park, dating back to my youngest years. As a child I was always excited when my parents brought me here, as it meant one of a few things: I would get to play in the water-park, I'd get to visit the Vancouver Zoo or the Aquarium, I'd get to ride the miniature train, or I'd get to swim in the pool at 2nd Beach. Although the zoo is no more, there are so many things to do year-round for children and adults alike. Attending the annual Christmas train is still one of my favourite events of the holiday season, and summertime concerts at the Malkin Bowl are a privilege to attend.
Vancouverites tend to be very protective of Stanley Park, so visitors, show some respect. (No littering please!) This is truly the most beautiful park I have ever been in, and I've been in a LOT.
Stanley Park the perfect place to come to be inspired, fall in love, and heal your spirit. Everyone travelling Vancouver ought to visit at least once.Listed in: Must dos for dull days, Writers' Dens

If Granville Island is my first Vancouver love, Stanley Park is that dependable ex I can always count on to be there right when I need them.
This place is good for the soul. It's so beautiful, and has such a way of lifting your spirits like no-where else in the city. If I need some time to think, run away my stress, soak up the good feelings and sunshine or just be immerse myself in total beauty - this is where I go.
The Seawall has got to be one of my favourite places in the city, and whenever I have something in my head to work out - good/bad/puzzling/exciting - this is where I head to try to get it all sorted. If you are a visitor to Vancouver, this and Granville Island are must visit's. I amend my previous statement about Granville Island being the true Vancouver - I think this place has it all tied. It's got the nature, the soul, the beauty and the laid back awesomeness that make this city what it is.
Walk the seawall, work out your fuzzy thoughts. Absorb the staggering beauty that is Vancouver - the mountains, the greenery and the gorgeous ocean in between.
It really doesn't get any better than this. -

Vancouver is an expensive place to visit... damn expensive! So if you can find something entertaining to do that takes up most of a day, and it's free, you should do it.
Stanley Park fits that bill perfectly. The park planners in Vancouver got it right. I can't imagine how long it would take to explore all the activities, attractions and trails in this immense park; but for sure, you can spend most of a day there and not see the same thing twice. I know because we did so.
After walking to and through Gastown, we caught the #22 bus to the park from the edge of Chinatown. It took us straight to Stanley Park. There, we walked almost the entire Sea Wall: from the bus stop counterclockwise to Third Beach. Along the way we were kept interested and entertained by many sights, flora and fauna. To name a few: big boats, little boats, sea planes, military outpost, light house, totem poles, statues, suspension bridge, rock formations, sea birds, sea otters and seals. We never got bored.
The Sea Wall Trail is laid out very smartly. First of all, bikes are kept on a second parallel trail, and they are limited to riding in one direction. Secondly, roller-bladers share the trail with walkers, but they are given a separate lane and limited to one direction, as well. This results in a much more relaxed walk. You never have to fear being run down by a cyclist or roller-blader.
We departed the Sea Wall at Second Beach and took Tallow Walk back to Lost Lagoon and the bus stop. This was a very peaceful walk through the forest, unlike the Sea Wall, we had it to ourselves. For me, that time with my bride on Tallow Walk through Stanley Park is one of the highlights of the whole trip.Listed in: Pacific NW Road Trip 2011

If I could go for a jog in a lush setting like Stanley Park every evening after work, I would be floored. Running through the Beaver Lake Trail, gazing at deep purple lily pads and circling back under Pacific Northwest treetops would make exercise something to savor and look forward to every day.
Because of this, I forgive the frozen treat vendor at the English Bay edge of the park for running out of Rocket Pops. -

This place reminds me a little bit of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco but WAY nicer, cleaner, and more beautiful. I love that the park is on the water, there's ample parking, and so much to do. The views of the bridge are spectacular and there are lookout points throughout the park.
The aquarium is located within this park as well which is worth checking out. Come here on a nice day just to walk around, go jogging, or grab a bite to eat. There are restaurants scattered throughout as well that look great!
There are also beaches, totem poles, statues...you name it, it's in this park. A must see if you are in Vancouver! -

Omg stanley park, oh hai
Second beach pool.. was.. awesome.. then i got older and forgot about swimming pools thus crushing that chapter of my life.
walking around the seawall with waves crashing so big i've never seen my dog so scared.
eating mushrooms and wandering around the park.
breaking our scooter while on said mushrooms trying to climb the gigantic trails.
wandering the forest on mushrooms when realizing we were in a gay cruising area... and men were peeking behind trees.
but the BEST?
dressing as a man (with my boyfriend) and coming here to the cruising area at night ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!
or coming over the bridge in the cruising are and scaring all the creepy men!!
seriously.. where else do you come over the bridge into a beautiful forest to enter the city?
thank you stanley,
thank you. -

What a beautiful park. I'm sure we only scratched the surface on this one. However, we figured we walked about ten miles in this park. How we managed to miss the totem poles is beyond me.
We walked through some trails and down the walk that borders the water. I really enjoyed the fact that they have separate areas for people on bikes and blades and walkers. That way when you are walking you are not constantly worried that someone is about to run you down.
We started at the Aquarium and then worked are way around until we came upon a concession stand that had burgers cooked to order.
We had a nice day there. It was partly cloudy but didn't rain so we just enjoyed being out and about. What an asset to the city of Vancouver.
I'll come back to enjoy this park again.

Review from Smitcha B.
On my road tour of the city, we ventured off to Stanley Park to take some touristy pictures. Little did I know that this park was a massive beast lying in wait. Why wasn't I informed that the entrance to Bruce Wayne's Bat Cave was hidden in this darn place? The scenery is amazing; one part lush greens, even forest like while the opposite end was usually a view of the sea surrounding the park. When I think of public parks, I imagine the inner city toxic wasteland parks filled with your neighborhood thugs but this place demolishes that whack imagery completely.
Whether you are a tourist or here to get a good work out or maybe even to hug some trees, you can find all your needs in this park. Everything is welcomed from cycling, hiking/jogging, tennis, lawn bowling (don't ask, I don't have an answer), lounging, visiting the Totem Pole cultural center, checking out the landmarks, etc. It's no wonder why this place gets five stars because it deserves every single one of them. If you want to be with nature, this is the place to be. You can easily get away from all the tourists and crowds by venturing off into the deep woods. Just make sure you don't get mauled by a sasquatch.
You can even rent a bicycle or pay to take an official tour of this park. Whatever your reasons are, appreciate and respect the beauty of the park and nature, don't be an a$$ and litter, and breathe in that fresh air. Even the restrooms were well maintained unlike in LA where you go in and walk away feeling like you instantly need a shower. If you're visiting Vancouver, then maybe this should make it on your "to see" list.
Be sure to bring your camera! -

Stanley Park - I've been visiting here for years and years. Basically my entire life. I love it just as much now as I did as a kid.
I've driven around it, walked around it, swam in the pools, explored the trails, picnicked by day, enjoyed romantic views by night, and so much more.
It was sad what happened to it a couple years back in the wind storm, but it's still a sight to behold.
I'll continue visiting this park for years to come. -
Review from Gregory C.
Summer in Vancouver is a thing of beauty, and Stanley Park is, hands down, the best city park - a large park with old growth trees, quiet areas, surrounded by pristine water, and a large beautiful mountain range to the north. Better than Central Park and Golden Gate Park. While SF has a prettier cityscape, I wish I had this Park and the Vancouver landscape surrounding the city. A great place to go for a run. Be sure to rent a bike if you want to really explore the park in detail.
Their aquarium, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. Other than the Beluga whale exhibit, which is really cool, this place is not really worth your time. Far below the calibre of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I suggest you spend your time exploring the beautiful surroundings this park has to offer. -
Review from Suie C.
Lots to see here and it's great to bike around.
We rented a bike from one of the many bike rental shops and it was a scenic, enjoyable, and easy ride through the park. Stanley park has scenery, a beach, bridge views, totem poles, statues, and playgrounds all in one.
We went on a sunday so it was fairly crowded, but ppl are good about the rules of biking and walking (staying in the bike lane, one way, and moving to the right to let others pass).
Great way to spend an afternoon and a great way to see the sights of Vancouver. -
Review from Dru C.
One of Vancouver's best place to bring tourist friends or attracts tourist in general.
Our large trees and the forest like thing right in the middle of the city. I come here from time to time every summer for a nice bike ride around the sea wall, or a nice run.
I enjoy the beaches within the area too. Second beach is the best where there is no one sometimes on a good summer day. It is filled with less people and more room to sit around.
In Stanley park there is the Aquarium and the sea wall. You can bike and roller-blade along the sea wall and have amazing view of the our sea and breathe in some of that beautiful sea air.
Check out prospect point for great photography moments and grab an EXPENSIVE froyo too.... LOL.
Overall I love Stanley Park. Take your time to enjoy it. -

Stanley Park, you are great.
All my memories since childhood of this place have been good ones. The Seawall, Lost Lagoon, field trips to the Aquarium (even as an adult!). All good stuff.
So go hang out in the park. See a movie, go for a run, walk your dog, watch the sun set with a beer or two... but watch out for the geese poop.Listed in: Free things to do in Vancouver

This is one great park! Had I known they had miles and miles of the "seawall" pavement, I would have come equipped with my running gear during my visit.
I enjoyed walking around and just soaking in the scenery. I didn't get to visit the beaches or ride the trolleys, but I got to see the bridge, totem poles, nature, and walked a few miles on the sea wall.
It was obvious that everyone there enjoyed themselves. :) I would love to have a park of this caliber near my home town! Will definitely come back if I ever visit BC again. -
Review from Nick L.
This park sets the standard for me.
This park was the main reason why I almost moved here.
This park has it all.
This park rocks!
I rented a bike to cycle round this beautiful park and wasn't disappointed at all. It was such a easy and stunning ride round the circumference of the park. It's a busy park and there are plenty of people, walking, biking and blading it up.
If you want to find a quieter part of the park you still can. There are so many trails within the park, you find that you can be all alone very quickly. Beaver Lake is a nice place to sneak up with your bike.
This is quintensial Vancouver and you can't say you have been without coming here. And as you may know from other reviews of mine....it's FREE!!! Free!!! FREE!!! Especially useful as Vancouver isn't cheap by any stretch.
Come and enjoy - I wish I could right now. -

BEST PARK EVER!!!
I love Stanley Park. It is enormous! So many trails to walk. It is a huge reason for where I live where I live. If you a visiting Vancouver, you MUST come to Stanley Park. You can walk around the seawall, hike or bike through the inner trails (and hopefully don't get too lost), enjoy a picnic, relax on Second or Third beach, visit the aquarium, see the Totem Poles, ride the mini-train, take a horse drawn tour, etc, etc!
A perfect place to hug trees and smell flowers! -

This place is beyond great, in fact there are no words in the English Language to describe it!
We were told about this park during our last visit to Vancouver. Being Texans that just moved to the Seattle area, we have NEVER seen a park like this.
We visited the Aquarium and got to see the dolphin show and the whale show as well. I can honestly compete with other Aquariums in North America that we have visited in the past.
My only "complaint " is that we really needed more time to see EVERYTHING this park has to offer. We drove from the Seattle area, went through the border crossing and rented a hotel room in order to make it here today. We can't wait to come back! -
Review from Daren D.
I can only speak from the eastside of the bike path:
It is huge. It is gorgeous [with gorgeous views. It is lavish green. It is awesome. I just think it'd be nice if the whole outskirts wasn't just one-way going counter-clockwise. It looks like a line used to separate bi-directional bicycle traffic.Listed in: Vancouver, BC

Very nice park.
Large and diverse it can be explored on many levels. We only had time for a lap around in the car with stops for pictures but was scenic and delightful. Crazy amount of tourists, bicyclist, cars, trolleys, horses and everything else. -
Review from Danielle L.
Don't even dare think about visiting Vancouver without making a stop here. It's beauty is beyond measure and certainly ended up being the highlight of our trip. Plus, it's FREEE!
We parked at a bike rental shop nearby, which allowed us to avoid the major traffic jam that seemed to occur there on a daily basis, and then spent about 3 hours riding the seawall.
The views along the path were breathtaking, and there was something new and wonderful to behold around every corner. Had I known beforehand that we were about to embark on one of the most stunning places in existence, we would have rented the bikes for an entire day. Even then, we may have only been able to see a sliver of what the park has to offer.
I highly recommend reading through the reviews to get better ideas of what lies inside, as I merely experienced it from the outer edges. You should also pick up one of the handy dandy maps. Of course you could also just wander around and wing it, enjoying it just the same. You simply can't go wrong here. -

Great for all season!! For the views!! and for the fun odd things to do!
SUNNY DAYS: Bike, Blade, Jog around the Seawall of Stanley Park. Lazy? Go around in the luxury of your own vehicle. Or Beach it up and get a tan on any of their beaches. There is also a float pool but tends to be over crowded with kids.
WINTER DAYS: They have an annual Christmas Lights Display in the center of the park, located close to the Rose Garden. Go to Prospect point and grab a nice cup of hot chocolate or chowder!
Don't forget your camera!!
Photo points to not miss: Coal Harbor, Totem Polems, Light House, Person on Rock, Dragon Cannon, Tree on Island, Balanced rocks, Under Lions Gate Bridge, Over Lions Gate Bridge, Prospect Point, and many more :) -

I started at the Seawall, made my way to the Aquarium, then took the Stanley Park trolley ($10/pp from 10am-6pm; you pay the driver on the trolley when you board and they will give you a pass) to the totem poles, prospect point, and second beach (Fish House).
Bike riding and rollerblading are popular. Beautiful sights and lovely park. It's a great place to spend the entire day playing sports, wandering the park and soaking up the sights, and/or heading over to the beach. Highly recommend to everyone! -
Review from Bobby C.
A must do when in Vancouver. Beautiful park with towering trees and breathtaking vistas.
Rented a bike from English Bay Bicycles. Nice guys, good prices...on Davie St. I rented a road bike, which was a mistake as there are many non-paved trails that run through the middle of the forest. Get a hybrid.
There are a lot of inexperienced bicyclists on the trail so ring your bell and shout which side on which you will be passing them.
Aquarium, totem poles, lakes, boats...They're all inside this incredible city park. -

I don't really know what to say, other than this was an awesome experience.
I got to see totem poles and bridges and all this nature shit, I mean natural nature.
Not sure what it was, the air, the people, the green... But it was awesome. -

WOW!!!!! STUNNING PARK!!!!! I love everything about it. It's HUGE & SPACIOUS which makes it far from crowded. There's enough room for a whole zoo and them some.
The water, lush trees, and fresh air makes it feel like heaven on earth. At first glance, I fell in love. The only thing that could have made it better was locking eyes with a sexy man with a hot bod and lots of cash, and falling in love instantly. (Hehehe, J/K!!)
The best part about it is that you haven't seen it all!!! I mean, it's so big that there is no way you have discovered all of it's treasures. Maybe if I keep walking, I'll run into Mr. Dreamy! =)Listed in: Unicorns are real...

Absolutely gorgeous - like New York's Central Park but with less homeless people and much cleaner! Also, partially set on the ocean.
There are so many sections to explore that I recommend renting a bike and exploring it that way. Playgrounds, beaches, benches, the Acquarium, groves of trees, a huge swimming pool, families, lovers and loners. The park is a must see in Vancouver.Listed in: Vancouver BC

Review from Neil C.
This is one of the best urban parks I've ever been to. Only a few feet away from one of the most densely populated areas in North America you are transported to a dense temperate rainforest by the sea.
The circle bicycle route is stunning, as you go past totem poles, cliffs, a functioning cannon that actually fires off every night at 9pm, a series of odd Chinese statues, and a wide variety of beautiful flowers and plants as a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The landscaping is stunning as is the natural setting with plenty of views of the cities of North and West Vancouver set in front of a series of large mountains to the north. For a flat-lander like me there were a few hills, but nothing that was too difficult at least on the circle path. (and since Chicago has 0 real hills this was a good thing as my legs aren't trained for them).
There even is a beach and a swimming pool, though when I was there it was way too cold to check those out, but they are there for people to check out if the weather is right.
Also watch for the many seaplanes that land in Burrard Inlet. Its a cool local thing, where many isolated communities in BC, Alaska and the Yukon are connected to civilization through this unique form of transportation.
All and all this is a must see for any traveler to Vancouver, grab a bike and explore! -

Syuzy, Amy, Sara, the seven (7) kids and I visited Stanley Park on Sun.m Aug. 21st.

I've been to a LOT of parks in North America, and this is by far the most gorgeous park -- blows Central Park out of the water!!
Sun, rain or snow - no worries, it's gorgeous year round. There are plenty of things to see and do for both children and adults. Wether you want to hike, bike, walk or lounge, this beautiful slice of serenity can accommodate.
You can purchase a parking pass that will be good for the day & you don't have to stay put in one location.
The aquarium is amazing, (better than the Long Beach Aquarium located in Southern California - where I'm from.) The miniature train ride is nice & long, and we spotted a bald eagle on our ride! (the only criticism that I have about the train is that the smell of gasoline was about to make me ill, but it didn't seem to bother my husband or my son.)
The children's zoo is apparently permanently closed, (had no idea, but I looked on their website & found out *after* our visit that it wasn't just "under construction, but permanently closed down.)
There are little playgrounds scattered around the park, and the one we visited, (near the miniature train,) had a busy woodpecker who quickly became the object of an impromptu photo shoot ... oh, my son learned how to say "pecker" :)
A reviewer on here wrote that they could spend a month exploring the nooks and crannies of Stanley Park & I couldn't agree more! Wish every park was like Stanley Park! -

Another reason why Americans come to British Columbia for vacation.
I was only in Vancouver for 2 days and couldn't even begin to fit in all the things I wanted to do. As boyfriend and I were leaving Vancouver, we KNEW we had to stop by Stanley Park for a final farewell to one of my new favorite cities. Holy Shit I'm so glad I did.
Immediately Richard said, "we should have come here earlier. Stanley Park is where it's at"
When we first got there, there was a cluster of kids playing around the pool/jungle gym park and I silently thought, is this it?
The driving was a little bit confusing but Richard and I were able to figure out how to get on the path to drive the perimeter of the park. SO majestic. Drove through the road among the trees, incredibly wild shrubbery, and made our first stop at the totem poles. Very interesting read on what each totem pole meant and symbolized and a great tourist point. It was also right next to the overpriced tourist shop. And I mean severely overpriced. Clothes were decently priced, but the trinkets and hand crafted wood (no thanks).
It took Richard and I about 20 minutes to drive around the entire perimeter at a slow pace. It was soooo incredibly beautiful. I really can't stop describing how amazing it was. You had the entire view of the water on a 360 degree view with cities, shipyards, and bridges in different respective parts. We even saw a wedding taking place.
I had very high hopes and expectations from the reviews of Stanley Park before I came and now I'm proud to say even I was surpassed. -

This park is huge and amazing! I love how beautiful and serene the scenary is and how the seawall connects to different parts of the park and beaches.
There is plenty of room for everyone.
The only downside is the parking. It should be free like other Provincial Parks are now going to be. The new law will not charge people in other parks but this one will remain the same. This park is worth it! I'm so glad we have it! It's very well kept with a couple of places to eat.
This park is great for family, beach, pinic, rollerblading, biking, running, freesbie, swimming pool, outdoor bbq or just crusing in your car around the park!
Great for photograhy!
