Review from Jamie C.

One of my favourite dog parks in the city, there's always a good mix of other pups around and there is lots of room for everyone to run around and play.
They renovated the park last summer and have now put in a water fountain for people and for pups, which gets bonus points for me not having to carry an extra water bottle around. Could use some complimentary poop bags or hand sanitizer and it can get a bit dusty in the summer, but I love that there are lots of benches and a few trees.
Downfalls: little to no grass, and the slaughterhouse behind the park can smell pretty foul sometimes (and if you're paying attention you'll see truck loads of live pigs going in fairly often).
Have had a few issues with unfixed males coming in to the space - could use some signage saying this is not allowed! -
Review from Kelly O.
This is a great park to take your dog. It has a huge expanse for running around, and most of the dog owners here are very friendly and responsible. It is mostly grass, (as opposed to dust or mud). The lights stay on quite late in the park in the summer at least, so you can go there at 9 pm and feel quite safe.
Unfortunately, it is quite disconcerting to see the daily shipment of live pigs heading to the processing facility (aka: slaughterhouse) located directly behind the park. This can contribute to some unpleasant sounds (squealing), and some even more unpleasant smells, particularly in the summer. In any case, this is a fantastic park to go to to let your little pups run around freely and safely.
This park is only about 70% enclosed, so beware if you have a dog that likes to run off.Listed in: Dog Parks Yo!

my dog is a ball thief, and i'm sorry for that, but geez, don't get pissed at me MY dog has 'stolen' YOUR dog's ball.
Don't bring your freakin' ball if you don't want the potential for *other* dogs to, for some reason, think it would be fun with to play with too!
And in return, may take the ball, and not want to give it back.
This is such a peeve of mine.
Don't bring a toy, and wonder why other dogs might see this as something they want too! And then get UPSET about it.
My dog isn't trying to 'upset' your dog.
My dog isn't actually going to STEAL your ball.
He will drop it, probably when you get your head out of your ass and stop your pouty 'your daawg took MY daaawgs ball'.
For that, I'm taking away a couple of stars ... i really dislike those dog owners who make my life so miserable at this park.1 Previous Review: Show all »

The renovations have begun....you may notice the large orange fence around an area of the park where they are constructing the fully fenced off-leash area. The park is still in use around the fences (and sometimes within.....I note the city has put up signs asking all to keep their dogs out of the contruction area!). I'm not sure when the renos will be complete but they seem to be working hard into the early evening....probably trying to get it down before it gets too cold and the ground freezes.

Review from Connie T.
Toronto, ON
I love the northern part of this park. With its rolling levels of greenness, I feel like I'm entering a small playland. Ignoring King Street to its south, the west-side alleyway and quiet streets to the north and east add a nice calmness and a great geographical mix to my work commute.
The southern park, as Todd mentioned, is a large space for active sporty types, but given the times of day I walk by (early morning or evening), the only activities I see here are a bunch of dogs pooping and their owners sauntering after them to clean up the mess. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful spot for dog owners to get together and let their babies run wild -- there's lots of flat space to do it here, which can't be said for many areas here in the city.
If I were a dog owner, I'd definitely make this my second home. -

King Street divides this park into two segments with baseball and soccer fields to the south, and a children's playground and plenty of open space to the north. With this combination, and division, it makes this park one of the better in the city. You're able to play sports and the like without worrying about bothering those that may just want to sit and enjoy the scenery.
The southern half of the park provides a well-lit baseball diamond as well as a large soccer field. During the day, the park is a great area for dogs to run about before soccer takes the evening. Most to all owners pick up after the dogs as well, so you don't need to worry about coming up stinky after a sliding tackle.
On the north side, a good-sized playground is available for children to play on, with a large expanse of green space, trees, and park benches for you to sit, relax, and enjoy some quiet time with a sandwich, coffee, water, what have you. The sports-serenity combination is a great one-two punch for this park.
