I heard about Stanley Bark while I was walking my dog Tori at Coal Harbour Park. I had some other daycare places approach me when walking my dog, but this was the owners mother scouting us so I figured this would be the right fit. Stanley Bark is in the perfect location off Alberni and Denman. Tori loved going there and I seriously never had any issues with the staff. Every time I picked her up Sonja was always holding her and giving a ton of attention. I even trusted them enough to board Tori there when I went on a weekend trip to Whistler. There was a last minute change and we found out the cabin that we were staying in was not pet friendly. I frantically called Sonja if she could take Tori with such notice and she was very reassuring that it was not a problem. It was the first time that I was ever separated from my dog for my than 8 hours so I was a wreck. Instead of leaving her at the daycare at night they brought her home with them.
Tori was always happy after a day at Stanley Bark and most importantly she never got sick under their care. Sadly, I had to move back to California but if I ever return I would definitely bring my dog back here and highly recommend them. The staff was so friendly that they even emailed me to check in about our move and sent pictures of my dog at her last days at daycare. If you want a friendly atmosphere where they treat your dog like their own go here! -

It seems like my first encounter with Stanley Bark, which was positive was a very rare occurance.
Multiple visits were not so great. The man who answers the phone and is at the store when I pick up my dog is always in a foul mood. I tried to be friendly and even cracked a joke... he didn't even crack a smile. Service means a lot to me and a grumpy person cannot be giving my dog the best she deserves. I doubt he's cheerfully playing with my dog throughout the day while I'm at work.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I had my dog in this daycare for a few months and was not happy with their service. The place is filthy and smells like pee all the time. I wittnessed one of the staff pick up dog poop with a piece of paper towel and not use any kind of a cleaner to wipe up the spot.
As for their prices, it seems like they change them as they wish; not consistent with their price list advertised on their webpage.
Another thing I didn't like is that the guy working there during pick up hours doesn't spend any time with the dogs and is always sleeping in the side room. He always seems miserable and like he doesn't want to be there.
As for the dog behaviour, the only thing they know how to do is separate dogs with a baby gate or tell the owner that the dog is dominant and that they don't want him. I personally never had these issues with my dog but was told by a few owners that their dogs were kicked out for being dominant or too large.

Overall, the place is very unprofessional. Take your dog somewhere else if you can.
