How I met your mother .. I mean my first car.  I was a little late to the game when it came to getting my license and buying a car.  Both happened within days of eachother, at the age of 26.  I tell people I didn't need either, and while mostly true, it was really just an excuse.  You see, I tried to get my learner's license when I was 18, failed, and never tried again.  I was young and cocky, and later on, lazy and stupid.  But the past is the past.

My decision to go with a GM vehicle was made because my dad was working at a GM dealership in Northern Alberta.  I figured I could get a good deal by going through that dealership.  I was right, but lucky for me, Stampede was able to match it.

I chose a Pontiac G5.  The G5 is basically a new line that merges the old Sunfire with the Grand-Am.  Our family had a Grand-Am that my dad drove to it's death and my mom still had her Sunfire.  We had been really lucky with Pontiac vehicles.  So it was an easy choice.

Stampede was awesome.  They far exceeded my expectations and accommodated my unique situation (in the end, I got my license the day before I picked up my car).  They also got me great financing (0% APR), which is something my dads former dealership couldn't do.  When going through the financing documentation, they will naturally try and sell you on some extras.  But, they were up front about it and explained the options really well.  I never felt confused or pressured to do anything I didn't want to.  That was nice.

2 years later and I don't regret my decision to use Stampede or buy a Pontiac (despite the fact that my car isn't worth anything .. at all).  I haven't had any major issues with it, and the minor kinks that have come up are small enough that I tend to forget they are there (one of the windows creaks and there is a bit of rattling going on).  Compared with friends of mine who routinely bring their band new cars in for repairs and servicing, I consider myself very lucky.
