I am here at this hotel right now on a pleasure trip with a sister to this wonderful city.

It is my first stay at this hotel. I'm afraid I must take issue with the scathing review and one star from the lady who took issue with this St Regis not being related to the NYC St Regis.

What a ludicrous basis for a complaint, ie because she was confused! How is that their fault? She is almost implying they are " ripping off" the brand. Yelp I protest, take this foolish posting down!

This hotel originated the name in 1913 - not the other way around!   They were the first such named hotel in north America, why in the world would
anyone blame them because of that? Lamest of reasons to give one star.

I have no stake in this place, but my stay here is superb so far. The GM
was so hands on, he actually went up to our room himself to expedite it's
readiness for us.  He worked with us to streamline a goofy reservation
through an online Booker (tip , book direct, better rates, less hassle).

The same GM even gave my sister an iPad to use during our stay (I
already had mine along). Normally there will be a charge to use them
during your stay, but he did that due to some of the snafus we hit with
our booking company.

Upgraded us for a nominal fee, and everyone on staff has been so kind
and happy to help.

The location is really convenient. We came by train from Seattle and got
the sky train across the street from the train station, and a quick ride to
Granville station, which is almost next door. Wonderful to not have a car
here.

The room - we are in a queen suite - is modern and tasteful, in neutral
tones, flat screen tv in each room (quality of picture not the best though,
don't seem to have HD here). Nice quality bedding, sheets feel like high
thread count.

I am a stickler for odors with a keen sense of smell. This place is 100% nonsmoking, and is fresh as can be. (how places smell is so important, and distracting to me, I once left a vacation rental in Tuscany that I had prepaid a week for, forfeiting several hundred dollars, all because a German guest in a cottage below us prepared saurkraut and I could not even sleep a wink with that scent in the air.

I am here two days after 'miss confused', and there is nothing like she is describing going on.

Wifi is included, no extra fee, by the way.

The bathroom is nice with lighted swivel mirror,  a nice extra. Good pressure in the shower and has a built in bench in the shower too. There is a bit of a gap at the bottom of the door so if you move the shower head around you can get water on the floor.

They give you a discount to an adjacent health club, and have an apparently amazing massage therapist who works in house (he was no available though).

I haven't had their breakfast yet but will report back on it.

The elevators are european style, small and narrow.

I really like the place, and there is everything close by, restaurants, drug stores, great shopping, etc.

This St. Regis is NOT related to the glorious St. Regis hotel you are thinking of! How disappointed was I to find this out upon my arrival!

If you have ever stayed at a St. Regis you know they have impeccable service, amazing beds, and any amenity at your service.

While the name, logo, and typeface are the same... the concierge told me that apparently the St. Regis in Vancouver sells the rights to it's name/logo to the posh St. Regis chain I am familiar with.

The experience of the St. Regis Vancouver lived up to my complete disappointment!!! The staff could have cared less how heavy my bag was when I walked through the door. The elevator was so tiny... I actually felt claustrophobic! The room smelled pretty foul when I walked in... I actually had to buy room freshener during my 2 night stay!  BUT the bed was probably the worst part. It definitely felt like a million people actually slept in it before me! The comforter had polyester fill and was not luxurious at all!

Had I known that this is not the 'real' St. Regis, I would have come in with lower expectations... but this hotel wouldn't have even met those!

I felt totally deceived!

I celebrated my birthday here & was impressed by their site.  The price is okay considering it's located in their downtown area.  I'm from California, so I've never seen the hotel before, but I assumed it would be a larger hotel.  The rooms are nice and spacious.  They give you complimentary bottled water, which is cool because other hotels usually charge you $5-7 if you open their botttled water.

Parking is located walking distance from the hotel.  You have to pay each day for parking, of course, but you can come and go as you please.

The staff was nice and helpful during our stay, offering suggestions on where to go and certain areas to avoid.

Ah, OK, residential stairs being locked makes sense. I'm glad that there will be signs posted soon. I would definitely stay at the St. Regis again.

Had a three day stay in March 2010. After staying in giant condos in Whistler and the Pacific Palisades Hotel earlier in our visit, the king executive room at the St. Regis seemed really small. No fridge was the worst part. We filled up the sink with ice to keep drinks cold. We talked to the hotel about possibly paying to upgrade to a suite but we couldn't afford it. I thought it would have been nice of them to upgrade us for free since they told us they had suites open that no one was using, but they didn't offer. It was a little cold after the other places we stayed bended over backwards to hook us up.

The daytime desk guy was Benjamin who was awesome. He helped us unpack our car and bring everything upstairs. He also gave us great neighborhood recommendations. The older man working at night was a jerk. He acted very inconvenienced when I asked him to get my leftovers which Benjamin had put in the staff refrigerator during the day. He looked really upset to have to get up and help me.

They had a really cool looking deck in the wall to plug in our laptop to play movies on the TV, but no one at the front desk could figure out how to make it work. FAIL.

The free breakfast was really good and the waitress was very sweet and helpful. This was probably the best part of our stay - the breakfast and Benjamin.

Boutique Hotels are great.
Service is faster, rooms are more updated and the overall atmosphere is so much cozier.
Stay at the St Regis for 2 night while in Vancouver on a recent trip.
Parking anywhere in downtown is bad, but the parking spot exclusively for St Regis was right off the building. It was safe and heated, so the $25 a day charge was well worth it.
The choice for me to come back here on future trips would have to be the free breakfast for hotel guests.
This breakfast was not the typical free breakfast. Rather, it was a meal that one would pay $20 for at a nice hotel or diner.
Breakfast items included, bacon, sausage, eggs, bagels, potatoes, toast, homemade muffins, danishes...the list goes on.
The rooms were very clean and very updated. We had a room off the busy street and it was a bit noisy at times. However, this is downtown and is expected. The city noise added to the ambience. If you want quiet , stay in the suburbs.

It was good but not great! Almost perfect but missing some fine details. Had a stay here a little while ago for several days and everyone was nice and friendly but it just felt like a second rate hotel not a first rate hotel and chic and all. It had everything going for it but just some details were not perfect and felt odd. So unfortunately will have to give this place a 4 instead of a 5.

I loved the location, the decor but if they want to attract hip chic folks they just do a little more to spruce it up. It's my opinion and I'm usually used to perfection and this unfortunately did not feel like it. Maybe they are still working out the kinks but I like things to be perfect.

I would have said 4 1/2, but 5 is good too. I love how clean and modern this hotel is. It's beautiful, the staff is SO great. Friendly, entertaining, and accommodating. The only reason I would say less than five is because there is no bathtub. I love bathtubs on vacation. They also have a complimentary "continental" breakfast. "Continental" because they also give you the option of bacon and eggs with potatoes! Free. And a wonderful server to boot.  It's a smaller hotel (boutique) and for awhile, we felt like we were the only guests there. Does it get any better than that?
