Yeah, I don't mind this place.  I think every single butcher I've walked into smells like ass, so nothing different here.  Have never had any issues with the meat being old/bad.

    Check it out!

As a restauranteur I frequent this excellent shop for bulk chicken and egg buys. The quality is excellent and their prices are one of the best in the city. The staff are hard working and helpful and if you're lucky Anna will be working the cash. She has that bitter-sweat Portuguese grandma attitude that puts a smile on your face. If you're looking for Halal chicken, which I prefer so as to make my chicken dishes accessible to my Muslim customers this is what they serve here. Also parking is free while you shop a rarity downtown.

I personally enjoy going to St. Andrews Poultry. I like the rawness of the meat and the rawness of the personalities there. What you see is what you get. The meat has always been fresh and I have never regretted going there.

My favourite - the chicken finger slices... Easy to cook up and cheap!
Tempted to try - the Quail. Not sure of a good recipe though
I would not like to go near - the pigs feet... I see the muck they walk around in!

Definitely worth going to if you would like some meat and some flavour in your shopping experience!

I really like going to specialty butchers, they remind me of a simpler time when you went to the butcher to get your meat and not the grocery isle.  Unfortunately if you were planning on going to St. Andrew Poultry I would recommend the freezer isle first.  Now don't get me wrong I know what a butcher's is and as such I don't expect the store to smell like a bed of roses.  That being said there is a different smell to freshly cut meat and food that is rotting.  The smell of St. Andrew poultry was the smell of rotting meat.  To add to this already unpleasant sensory experience they carried frozen boxed meats.   This is something I don't understand, I can get frozen chicken anywhere, why would I come specifically to Kensington market to get the same thing I can buy at No Frills?  I don't recommend St. Andrew Poultry because it's not a very good butcher and it's not worth your time.

My family likes to eat duck so I am always searching for a cheaper place to but this expensive bird.  I found that by buying two frozen ducks here, I'm able to save about 5 dollars compared to places such as T&T and No Frills.  They do not sell by weight here for the frozen birds.  I asked about a fresh duck for a soup I wanted to prepare and the girl working their kindly answered my question (unrelated to the purchase but because of my lack of experience with varying types, I needed to know whether the fresh one was suitable for a soup).  I made my selection later, asked for the fresh duck instead of the frozen ones and the girl was nice enough to advise me that I should purchase that one on Saturdays when they get their shipments, rather than the Monday as it wasn't very fresh anymore.  One thing that came to my mind was why they still left it in their fridge, but in any case, she might not have had time to put it away but she was still honest.
