This review is based on my two lunch experiences at spring rolls. Both times we went to spring rolls with a small group of 4 - 7 and opted for the premium all you can eat menu.

Like any other location of Spring Rolls, this one is nicely decorated, clean and welcoming! Depending on how busy the location is, sometimes it can take a while to get service. Expect to wait - 15 minutes; you can call in a reservation.

Now for the food. The premium all you can eat menu includes sushi, regular menu items and desert. The regular menu items (Thai currys, noodles, etc) is always delicious and beautifully presented. The sushi is also surprisingly fresh and good, at least as good as the other AYCE sushi places in waterloo. I would definitely recommend the restaurant for a group party, because the service and food are both great.

Good food but the service is very poor.
The menu is a misery even for the staff.
Other than that nice setting , chairs not to comfy.

Located outside of Conestoga Mall, this place definitely stands out, inside and outside. I've been here many times with large and small groups, there's a ton of seating so you usually never have to wait too long to be seated.

First off, their menu has grown very large since their opening a few years ago. They have all you can eat dim sum (and sushi now) on weekends, however, don't expect it to be amazing. The sushi isn't that great, they don't really make it properly and the veggies/fish fall out of the rice very easily. They a have a decent selection for dimsum, being decent tasting.

Their Thai menu on the other hand is pretty good. Expect their Pad Thai, Red and Green curries to be good quality. They mostly focus on Chinese and Thai cuisine, but I would say their Chinese dishes aren't that authentic (although still better than your Canadian-catered food court food). They have a large drinks menu, too.

Very classy place, nicely decorated. Good for a casual event, or a formal meal. The service is pretty good I would say. You will notice a lot of caucasians serving here. They usually have a greeter at the front too, but near closing hours they are usually inside doing other things.

If you're looking for a nice looking place to have Chinese or Thai food, definitely check it out, but don't expect amazing tasting food.

We went for the all you can eat sushi and dim sum.

There is better dim sum in town (Cameron!) but this place still has a purpose. This is good "your waspy relatives are visiting" dim sum place; there aren't any chicken feet or tripe on the menu to freak them out.

Our one year old made a mess with the edamame and I felt really bad about it but our server was very understanding. The atmosphere is nice and modern. The food is good, but not mindblowing-- like I said, this is definitely white-people dim sum. The standouts for me were the green dragon roll, the squid, and the spring rolls.

Will I go again? Yes. It's a good location for me and it means I can get a quick hit of dim sum when the craving hits without going down to Kitchener. They were great with the kids, and I can fill my 3 year old son up on his favourite sushi for cheaper than the sushi cart in the mall. I don't know that it will be a regular place for us, but it's certainly fine as long as you know what you're getting-- and the service is great.

Classic Spring Rolls interior, large chandeliers and modern designs.

Food is average. The servings are huge, I think one entree is more than enough for two people. Rice platters are always a safe choice. My favorite is the Thai Royal Castle although the dish does not look like the picture on the menu at all. Other reviews mentioned the bad quality of the Pad Thai as well. It's true, when I tried it it was way too salty. I recommend the curries, I really like the vegetable red curry it has good flavor.

Drinks here are quite nice. Although they come in a very tall glass that have to be lifted off the table in order for me to reach the straw, which I find is quite annoying.

In terms of service I find its okay. Only thing is that food and drinks are served very slowly. Last time when I was there we waited for about 20min for the dishes to be served.

Update: 12/31/2009 - Alex from Spring Rolls melted my heart with a gracious offer to make amends for the beer shower. I also need to reinforce that the food was FAR better than Manchu Wok; though it still wouldn't be my first choice. Spring Rolls has a contemporary aesthetic offering a non-threatening venue for Asian cuisine.

A menu more stereotypical than "China" in Disney's Epcot Center, a clientele that made their way out of the 'burbs for some atmosphere in Waterloo's Conestoga Mall; I really didn't have big expectations. While I was expecting a sit down version of Manchu Wok, the food was admittedly better but I ended up getting a beer shower.

The food isn't jaw-dropping or amazing, per se, but it's consistently good. Everything I've had there has been tasty and satisfying except for the soups which are just kinda "Meh."

I have to agree with the other reviewer who mentioned the bad service. The first time I was there the waitress was on top of my every minute which was great. The visits after that, the service was pretty poor. But just like I can't fault a waiter for bad food, I can't fault bad food for bad service.

I'm sure there's better Thai or Asian-fusion to be had in Ontario, but for Waterloo, this is definitely worth a visit.

a great addition to Waterloo, the atmosphere is amazing and the calamari is the perfect dish here.

I came here with a friend to show him some asian flavs. This place got some nice decor, but the washroom was dark as hell, and I'm afraid I made a bit of a mess on the toilet. Other then that the food was so-so. I had the tornado roll and some uhh pad thai I think. The drinks are pretty good, but the service could use some better training.
