I really like shopping at Sport Chek. I always get great service from there and they are usually pretty competitively priced.
I recently went in there looking for a pair of sneaks for my son. They had a deal that if I buy one pair, I get the second half off. I ended up paying $144 for 2 pair of Nike sneakers! Great deal!!
I also bought a package of socks for my boyfriend and he really likes them. They were just the no name kind. I also got him a track suit sweater/jacket. It's beautiful! -

In terms of ski/snowboard gear, this Sport Chek location has the smallest selection in the HRM. You will find much more ski/snowboard gear at the Halifax Shopping Centre location and quite a bit more at the Dartmouth Crossing location. However it is still a nice store and in a convenient shopping location.

Sport Chek is located in Bayer's Lake. This Sport Chek is fairly large and nicely layed out.
The staff here and manager are really great. We had bought at another SC and did an exchange here. The manager helped us find what we were looking for. They have a great selection of Nike shorts for women.
We got a really cool backpack by Burton. I did not know Burton has the best warranty in backpacks, fortunately we have not had to use it.
Sport Check stocks great cloths for guys as well. They are pretty much brand names as well as sneakers. We bought some great cleats here.
I like Sport Check and they have some great sales as well.
