So, if you're going for atmosphere, this is not the place. It's a huge place with a bazillion tvs tuned into various sporting events. But, here's what this place does well:

Lots of big tables, and empty-ish at 5 or 6 pm. So, if you have a large group going out for happy hour, this place can definitely accommodate. Also, while the prices get a little steep after happy hour ends (6:00), during happy hour they are pretty good. And: falafel sliders.

I think the space was better as Sit 'n Spin ten years ago,  The food is decent, but on the pricey side for bar food.  Service is less than adequate.  Very slow and the bartenders could be a little friendlier.

It is however, a great spot to watch sporting events as they have multiple TVs from every view and show everything.  It's a much better sports bar for viewing big games than Sport or Fox Sports Grill.

$20 Admission to watch the Mayweather & Cotto Fight???!  Crazy!

The last time i looked it only cost me $59.99 to buy the fight so i'm VERY surprise that this place would charge that much per person & its on a first come first serve basis.  No thanks!  i rather get two other friends to pitch in $20 and watch it in the comfort of my home & not pay for their pricey appetitizers.  Plus, its a guarantee i'll get a seat.

This place should just state that they want their patrons to pay for the fight they probably want to see themselves.  With Buffalo Wild Wings they do not charge for admission so what makes them so darn special???!  No wonder they are so busy/successful, they know how to use it to lure customers to come in to watch it for FREE, while getting them to purchase food & beer...this place could learn from them!

Spitfire is not friendly to people with speech disabilities.

Two years ago, we went to Spitfire to watch a basketball game.  The food and atmosphere were OK.

When I approached the bar to order a drink, my stutter was very pronounced.  This included jaw motion, eye motion and hand motion, similar to tourettes.  I expect listener patience when I stutter, and this has **NEVER** been a problem in the last 4 years of enjoying the Seattle bar scene, even when my stuttering is severe.

The bartender apparently thought I was drunk, so told me I was "cut off" and grabbed the manager.  After I patiently tried to explain, the manager AGREED WITH THE BARTENDER, shooing me away.

This was a very negative experience for me and I have recommended my friends NOT return here.  I hope the Spitfire has improved since then.

I'm going to get my biggest complaint out of the way immediately, as it was literally what had to be done in order to get into this place.  The front door is ridiculous!  It's 3000 feet high, weight 1200 lbs, and has giant spikes!  Pretty much none of what I just said is accurate, but the front door here is hilariously heavy and it was mildly amusing watching one of the girls I went with struggle with it... I know, such a gentleman.

The BEST part, consequently, are the freakin' chairs!  Seriously, when we sat down I think my back and butt began to sing.  Ridiculously comfortable!  Tons of seating in the place and all sorts of types -tables, high tops, bar seating, etc.  It was by no means busy since the only things on were the Oscars (barf) and the NBA All Star Game (double-barf) but honestly, I feel semi-fortunate that no one was around us considering the topics of conversation...

The drinks were well made and they catered to the young lady's request for Touchdown Bombs (don't judge me) and the food was 75% amazing.  The mini quesadilla was absolutely delicious and frankly, not mini at all.  Definitely worth ordering and devouring and only 5 or 6 bucks.  The chips and salsa were good but the guac was too limey.  I know that's a lame complaint, so take it more as a warning.  If you dig the tart, citrusy guac you will love it because it was fresh and full of avocado chunks and well prepared - I just personally like it more spicy then zesty.  Again, by no means bad, just personal taste discrepancy.  The mac n cheese with pees was delicious as well, and huge for the price.

Overall, considering the fact that it wasn't even happy hour, this place is surprisingly inexpensive when it comes to the food.  Obviously they are making their money on the booze side, but still, great for watching a game if there's actually something worth watching, good food, and very friendly and prompt service (at least when it isn't busy!).

Came here for the Oscars party in the private room in the back.  The party was out of control but that's for a whole different conversation.

I really like the private room.  It's a cool space with a small bar, couches, tables, a screen and a nice size.  No clue how much it is to rent but I def. see small party potential there.

The food was rather eh.  The menu looked delicious and the bf and I settled on:
    -Chicken sandwich
    -Plantain chips
-Carmelized onion and red pepper mac and cheese (they have 4 varieties to choose from)
    -Whisky ginger (his)

The mac and cheese was ok but it seemed a little overcooked.   I think it's because the macaroni was a little too small..  It didn't have that baked quality that most restaurant mac and cheeses have.

The fries on the chicken sandwich (didn't try...sorry) were pretty good.

The plantain chips weren't good at all.  They kind of reminded me of apple chips.  They just weren't as rich and flavorful as I hoped. They were crispy.  I was hoping they'd be more fry-like but maybe that's my fault considering they were called chips. They were really thin and didn't have that savory sweet quality I usually connotate with plantains.

Bf said the whisky ginger was too sweet.

They also didn't have a very lively dessert menu. It was just vanilla ice cream, a cookie and ice cream and a cupcake so I ended up having to go elsewhere.

The service was a mixed bag. They forgot our plantain chips originally so I asked for them about an hour later.  They ended up comp-ing it.  Also, there were plates and cups all over our area and no one came to get them.  It's hard to say because the plates were rather hard to get to since the party was so crowded.  They also had a food runner but no waitress.  This was a little less ideal because the place was so crowded, I was climbing out of our little couch area barefoot, then putting shoes back on to run around asking for water.

All in all, I could see this being a cool space to watch a tv event or host a private party.  Just know that the food and service can kind of be a hit or miss.

This place is a hit or miss when we was here. A-OK.

I think this place shines when it is Happy Hour for a sporting event or politics with many screens to watch your favorite teams or when you are renting the room in the back for a private party like a birthday.

The back allows you to dance but I can not see dancing in the main room. Plenty of seating but I can tell it can be standing room only when this place gets crowded. They layout is strange to me that makes it feel it doesn't know it's identity...it has a sports bar feel but parts of this space wants to be a lounge/club and restaurant.

The back room has an area for a bartender and plenty of seating towards the back. It is on different levels like a long stair case which is strange.  A screen on the wall so you can have the dj play video mixes. The wall decor in the back room is mostly concrete which makes you feel cold.

The service is hit and miss, too. I get the best service when I go up to the bartender and just order my drinks and food there. Very understaff for such a large space.

The drinks are nothing special and it is pretty much bar food for HH.  I ordered the quesadilla, sliders with homemade chips, and fries with a cold glass of beer.

The sliders are my favorite....tasty miniature burgers!  It comes with home made potatoe chips that are yummy.  The fries and quesadilla are just okay.

Best to come here during HH or join the crowd to watch your favorite sporting event or cheer on your favorite candidate for the elections!

Pro TIp: HH is Monday through Friday 4 PM - 7 PM. Regular menu is heavily influenced by South of the border cuisine.

This spot is weird to me.  It's a good sports bar that I hardly ever go to.  They have TVs all over the place and they play all the games.  It had been at least 2 years since I've been to a game here, but I recently went to a meet-n-greet happy hour here that was very well put together.  Those little empanadas they had for HH were excellent.

The food is interesting here - it's not typical sports bar food - and a lot of it is quite good.  The drinks are good too, and I like the layout of the place.

All said, for the life of me, when I think about where I want to watch football or basketball, I never think of this place.  Perhaps my positive recent visit here will change my mind in the future.

I originally tried another sports bar for the Super Bowl, but the wait was ridiculously long.  I decided to head here since I knew it was close by... to my surprise, there were Patriots flags and fans all over.  I couldn't have been happier :)

The bartenders were great as well as the food and drink selection.  I loved that they had large flat screens everywhere, so you could see the game no matter where you were sitting.  I didn't check out the back but some private party seemed to be going on.  I will definitely be returning here for more sporting events and happy hour!

If you are a sports fan, you will always have a good experience here. It's the best all around sports bar in Seattle. Good employees, good food, good drinks. Plenty of TV's or projectors to watch games on.

The Reuben is amazing. The nachos are stacked high with enough toppings  for three people to share.

There are menu changes weekly to keep things fresh.

The only downfall is the lack of anything healthy to eat... but then again... it is a bar.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes sports, or needs a good happy hour to go to.

I spend a lot of time in sports bars during football season, and I would call Spitfire an above-average sports bar, which I mean as a compliment.

The food here is somewhat hit or miss, but the stuff that is good is actually good.  Basic, but good.  My boyfriend really likes the tacos.  I've enjoyed the chef (or is it a cobb?) salad a number of times.  It's nice to be able to order a decent salad in a place that caters to people looking for wings and nachos.

The service is generally decent to good.  This place gets busy so the servers do their best to accommodate everyone.

All in all, one of the more appealing local sports bars in my book.

Right now I am really impressed.  So far, friendly staff in Belltown, full bar, and good prices on food-even non-happy hour food.  Large place, but with TVS so not sure if it turns into a sports bar or a club on the weekends, but I will be back to find out.  Cool large artwork and awesome heavy door made of titanium??  I don't know, just follow the signs on the door.  That sucker is heavy and momentum catches up with you once its its movin!

Just wow! Rolled through with my homeboys a couple Saturdays ago to catch the game, and it couldn't have been better!! We're HUGE sports fans, and yeah we get loud and intense, but it was just obvious that our passion was embraced and understood at a joint like this. One thing we figured out, even though they don't play it up, the blended drinks here are unreal. We just told our bartender (Tom?) what flavors we were feeling and he put together something for each of us that we all agreed was EXACTLY what we were looking for. What a cool place that you can just show up for the game and get your favorite drink you never had before! So highly recommended, I hope my bros meet you back there SOON.

Okay, so this is the one hundred and forty-fifth review of Spitfire. What could I possibly add? Maybe I can just chirp in that it's still a solid place. I was asked to come up with some suggestions for a place to watch the last half of a Monday Night Football game. I don't know much about sports bars. Yelp pointed me to Spitfire (I had been there before, for a private party in the back room). 22 televisions. Wow. That sounded like a lot.

The number of televisions is perfectly fine. And I liked that there are no bad seats in the house. No matter where you are, you can look up and comfortably see what's going on. I liked that all of the televisions were tuned to the game. It wasn't a crazy bug's eye mashup of tennis, soccer, football, cricket, light beer commercial, triathlon, Ford pickup commercial, etc. It was just one game.

The beer was cold. I like that they have Mac & Jacks. The Mac and Cheese (I went with the bacon blue cheese) was a little on the creamy/runny side. I think I like my M+C sauce a little thicker. But the flavor was good.

our server was cool. She checked in often but in a way that didn't make us feel rushed. It was a cool Monday night. I want to go back soon to see a big boxing match! That would be fun and I think the crowd would really get into it.

This place is the fallback sports bar in town, but their service and quality are pretty shockingly poor. Their food is totally inconsistant, they go from warming up frozen food to a constantly changing menu where you have no idea what you're going to get. How is it possible to be one of 5 people in a bar and still wait 15 min to get the bartender's attention? maybe if their service improved they'd have more weekly business. The bar has a really weird vibe. It's super packed at an event and a ghost town otherwise. I do not recommend this place.

Update (Nov,'11):  I just spoke with someone who told me that they have changed a lot of their personnel, including the bar manager who was so atrocious.  Given that, I'll check it out again and revise this review if appropriate.  I hate speaking badly about anyone, but those who deserve it should not enjoy taking business that could go to better establishments.

I'm kind of peeved that my 4-year old review of this place was removed.  Perhaps the Spitfire has gotten better, but I was so upset with my last experience there that I resolved to never return, so my old review has to stand.  is the establishment allowed to simply remove reviews by crying to Yelp?

Re-cap: after a year of visiting the Spitfire regularly, tipping at least 20%, showing up on dead evenings when the snotty bartenders could use every dime they were getting, I was treated like a second-class customer during breakfast before a Seahawks game.  Why?  Because I'm too old and not drunk enough to fit in with the 1st Avenue Belltown crowd that they were attempting to duplicate.  This is the only eating establishment I have ever sent a complaint email to, and I received no response. Two years later the offending bartender was still working there (yes, Spitfire management - Belltown is small enough to where the locals talk with one another) and I still refused to walk in the door.  While it's possible you can get this review yanked in time to cause you zero financial damage, I'm still talking to the neighbors about it...four years later  :)

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I have served before and I know walking into a sports bar what to expect. That being said, a group of six of us came to this establishment expecting decent pub fare.  Mac and Cheese: cold, three people ordered Burgers with fries: All fries cold, Service: horrible! Sent the mac back it was so cold and the waitress literally slammed it back on the table when re-heated. Not a busy night, and we all were a little baffled. First review I have ever been compelled to write. NOT a place I would ever return to.

Spitfire, I have written reviews for this place before; when it was bad and when it was good. I am glad that the new ownership is back onto the good track with the food. The servers and bartenders have always been pretty cool. The food just went DOWNHILL after the ownership change.

Went in for Sunday football and I will admit there was an improvement since I have not been in over the summer. The fries a great (homemade and handcut) and the chicken fried sandwich was very tasty.  The Margaritas (ya I had 3 or 5) hit the spot since they didn't seem to use cheap mix like a typical Mexican restaurant and the shots for our group were always prompt on this particular day!

The (really) bad:  damn the place STINKS.. can you PLEASE...I mean PLEASE do something about the horrible smell!! air fresheners...mop the entire floor..mop the men's and women's restroom..SOMETHING!! I just couldn't take it any longer and we had to leave to another place.   I just smells like the floor was mopped, and you leave the mop water and all the dirty rags in the corner to smell and fill the air.

After reading some nice reviews on Yelp I stopped by on a Saturday evening to catch the late football games. I was surprised at the door by a $12 admission charge due to the fact they were showing the Mayweather fight. I understand that having a PPV fight on might dictate some sort of temporary change in economics, but all I wanted to do was watch football since I'm not a fight fan. Not having an option for sports nuts who aren't interested in the fight is just lame, especially in the heart of football season.

Compare this to my experience at Munchbar in Bellevue on another night where they were showing a PPV fight. Munchbar didn't charge a cover at all, allowing me to quench my beer and football thirst. Perhaps I'll give Spitfire another shot if I'm in the neighborhood, but after my last experience I certainly won't make it a destination.

Menu changes are awesome.  The food is quite unique for a sports bar but before wasn't for the better.  They've expanded the menu to a bar food/comfort food hybrid and it's pretty delicious.  Corn dogs, Seattle dogs, corn bread open faced chicken sandwich...some interesting dishes for sure.  Good beer selection and plenty of TVs.  Definitely get here early for any bigger sporting event.

OH, and I had the best service of any bar/restaurant in Seattle.  I can't remember the waitress' name but she was busting her a$$ in the middle of a crowded OU/UW football game.  Keep up the awesome work kids!

I love this place! Although I'm relatively new to Seattle, I've been to Spitfire several times over the past few years while on business trips.  I moved to Belltown in February and am now a regular.  Ever since Becky and Brian took over, the place is under constant improvement.  The Management/Owners are very 'hands on" and not aloof. They truly listen to the customers' feedback and make necessary changes.
The menu is not as large as some other 'sports bars' in Seattle, but the chef has really made the selection first rate.  I love the chili, the mini quesadillas, and of course, the nachos.
I also love the new Brunch menu.  Great Omlettes, Eggs Benedict, and breakfast sandwiches....and the BEST Bloody Mary's in the city!
If you want a cool neighborhood Sports Bar with plenty of TVs, great food, awesome drink specials, and a KICK ASS staff, then Spitfire is your place!!

Are you a UFC fan? Then this is the spot for you! Was visiting the city the weekend of Dec.10, wanted to catch the fights that night. So we picked here, TV's all over the place. It was busy but not so much, got there 15min before the fight. Plenty of tables. I'm from LA, good-luck finding a place to stand 15min before the event in my hometown. Anyway the service was good, and good food to go with that service. They put a egg in your burger!! Come on that's Ace's in my book. All in all great place to visit!

I really want to love this place.  It is in a great location, and the bar itself is well designed and comfortable.  But the service is TERRIBLE!  I have been to this bar four different times over the course of two years, and each time I have been, I am shocked at the poor level of service.  Long wait times to be greeted, to order and to receive both food and drinks.  If you are looking to sit at the bar, watch the game, and toss a few back, you might survive the experience.  If you are looking for a place to go with a group, I can not think of a worse place to go.

I used to give this restaurant 5 stars. But not this time.

Me and my 5 other friends went to Spitfire to watch Pacquiao - Margarito fight last Saturday. We paid 10 dollars cover charge as expected.

The worst part is that the restaurant is packed because they are also showing a college football game. We were there early... so we were standing there for more than 3 hours!

Why they have to charge us 10 bucks if the people who didn't pay are all seated? EVEN after the football game, people who didn't pay were not asked to leave. We wanted to leave but we already paid!

Next time, if you wish to show BOTH boxing and college football at the same time, DON'T CHARGE. Everybody will be happy. Even we were not seated. Win win.

Also, the nacho cheese that we ordered was so darn... so un appetizing. Been sitting there for 1 hour?

And the server... we asked for 6 fork and she gave us just 2 fork and 2 napkins. ugh.

1 star because the fight was awesome. But we won't be going back here next time.

There's something off about this place.

I've been here a number of times and I can't put my finger on why I don't feel comfortable here.  The food is pretty good.  There was a super fun yelp prom event here.  I've been here for private parties and had a good time.  The service is great.  Yet, there's just something off about this place.  Maybe I'm not the target audience.  Maybe it's a little too big and too concrete-y?

$2 happy hour fish taco's are what get me in the door, the great staff and atmosphere keep me there - 5 years and running!  Recently started a Spitfire Book Club and the convo get's lively as the great drinks, food, and service are poured on thick like gravy.

My only complaint is that they're not open for lunch!  LUNCH! LUNCH!!! LUNCH!!! Do it! Just do lunch!! I'll come every day I promise!!!

Great football/sports bar with a ton of TVs.  They're under new management apparently and the food is terrible.  We went for morning nfl games. It wasn't busy.  We waited an hour for food, it was horrible and I sent it back.  Bottom line: Bars shouldn't try and do brunch. Just stick to what you do well...eggs aren't easy.

I stopped off at Spitfire to catch a happy hour before seeing a show at the Crocodile. The place has kind of a hard to describe vibe, its almost like its 3 places smashed into one. There is a loungey side, a bar in the middle, and a third side set up with tables like a restaurant. We bellied up to the bar so there were no complaints to be had about service. Both of the bartenders were very attentive and you can't beat a $5 Kettle One and Red Bull happy hour deal! The food was hit and miss. They were out of quite a few items we wanted to try so we made some random picks: Bacon Wrapped Prawns with Jalapenos = MISS.
Sundried Tomato, Basil, Manchego, Crostini = HIT

    Pros:
    Happy Hour 4PM-7PM
    Manchego Cheese!!

    Cons:
    Belltown parking
    Weird layout

Came here to watch a game and was a good enough place.  The food is absolute pants, not good at all and not too many great beer choices.  But the server we had was awesome.  I may go again, but i'm still shopping around for a better sports bar.

Outside sports, I can't imagine what this place is good for unless people just come here to get drinks if not drink and watch sports because there are so many tvs.  Very confusing place.

I like coming here for a few reasons: There's always room to sit during big games, The drinks are good and the service is friendly and attentive.

The layout is fairly strange and the vibe is confusing. I think they should either go for the sports bar or lounge feel, but they seem to be trying to be everything all in one confusing mesh of an atmosphere.

Food is blah (which would be less harshly judged for a sports bar)

Happy hour is a good value (4 -7)

I can see it already...This is the bar I will be drinking at in Hell....I know it....you sons of b1tches...

77 TVs on sports a blind man couldn't care to watch...

$12 for a double tall vodka & soda

Sliders with the tenderness of a football...

Seriously...go to hell....go directly to sports hell...do not collect $200...

Need a spot to catch the game?

Spitfire is a really large sports bar that offers comfort food, drinks galore, and even comfy couches. At night it has more of that Belltown feel where they have DJs and dancing. The bartenders are pleasant, the women's bathroom is pretty clean (love the skylight!) and heck... who can't love the original Sit n Spin spot?

Oh and who can forget the huge plasmas all over the place!

Keeping in mind what a sports bar is suppose to deliver to its customer - cold beer, hot food, and maximum TV overload - this place does a pretty good job keeping up its end of the bargain.

Private room in the back, if you're into that. Friendly, albeit spotty, service, solid menu, and loads of LCDs with all the sporting glory. When Blizzie's TV is otherwise occupied, I, Brommy and crew will be camped out here.

At least when we're here, we'll get to see a drunken idiot taking shots with his parents. The same idiot, who at some point in his young life, decided "Yes! Getting a Raider logo tattoo on my barely-there bicep WOULD be a good idea!"

I'm downgrading this place because the bouncer was rude and arrogant.  I stood outside waiting to get into the bar for about 20-30 minutes in 30 degree weather because he didn't believe that my friend was throwing a party.  I told him my friends name, and he rudely responded, "Well that doesn't mean I'll be letting you in."  Are you serious?  The bar was slammed and crowded with UFC fans, however, the back room was mostly empty by the time he finally gave in and let me in after we called him via cell phone.

I had a birthday here a year ago, but, there's no way I'll come back.  If i rented a room here, I would not want my friends to be mistreated.  I was tempted to leave before the party ever started.  Nice back room... idiotic bouncers.
