Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year, and every year, I take much pleasure in checking out all of the Halloween shops.

I'm not sure if Spirit Halloween has ever existed in Brampton, but this year they've taken over the ruins of Bartley Bull's old Blockbuster location (may she rest in pieces).

In terms of quickly-thrown-together seasonal Halloween shops, this is one of the best ones I've seen. Even with the amount of space the old Blockbuster has allowed them to take advantage of, they really crammed everything in, and probably could benefit from more room. Oh well.

One smart thing Spirit has done (in my opinion) is devoted most of the store to Adult costumes/accessories. There's still a children's section, but it amounts to probably 1/4 of the store.

The store does a great job of assigning everything to sections, as most Halloween stores I've been to simply lump everything together in 1 large space. They have sections devoted to make-up, wigs, accessories, hats, costumes for men, costumes for women, masks, party items (glasses, banners, decorations), and costumes for children.

They also had really amazing animatronic zombies, which was probably my favourite section. I especially loved the remote-controlled zombie torso (you control it crawling towards or away from you). They even had a life-sized Regan from The Exorcist, complete with pea-souped lips, glowing eyes, and neck-spin action. And I won't even get into how funny it was watching some older lady get all giddy playing with the Scream telephone. You pick up the receiver, and Ghostface yells at you and talks about how he's going to gut you. Hilarious!

As expected, the prices are rather high, depending on what you're buying. Buying the entire Snooki or Charlie Sheen costume set could set you back over 100 dollars, or a few hundred if you spring for one of the life-sized animatronics. However, there is a small section with modestly-priced masks and the like, though they're not nearly as cool.
The employees (a couple of which were dressed a little sexified, no complaints here) also seemed to be very helpful to customers asking about specific items. And if you're unsure about your costume, they even have a fitting room.

While I left empty-handed, I will definitely return. The only problem will be trying to decide on something, because I wanted to raid the place.
