Review from Laura T.
Delicious mango salad, fairly good pad thai, very disappointing stir fry tenderloin cubes with rice. Impressively large menu and pleasant staff.
Best part: Fantastic decor, very trendy given it's location on Upper James (sort of in the middle of no where).
Given your options, I'd try Spice Avenue over the Hooters or TurtleJacks in the area. -

Prices were too high for the quality of the food, which was ok-ish. Roughly $40 was spent on my dinner but it should have cost closer to $25 by the quality.
Service staff were friendly and personable. The place is a little loud but has a nice enough ambiance.
Started my meal with tiger shrimp soup. It contained exactly one small shrimp, yes, the kind you buy frozen at Sobeys. This was the full-priced dinner service item, not part of a discount lunch special. I mentioned the lack of shrimp to our server who was good about it. After mentioning this to her manager, she returned to tell me that it is policy for the tiger shrimp soup to contain -one- shrimp.
I was a little disappointed with the soup and lack of quality for price but no big deal. I was very disappointed with the management's reaction to my quite reasonable complaint, however.
For the management's "well that's just how it is" attitude and complete lack of interest in my satisfaction as a customer, I will not return to Spice Avenue. -

I passed by this place a few times and had no clue what it was. I remember it as Crabby Joe's when I was in highschool...in any case, someone told me that it is a Thai/Pho place now so I decided to check it out.
This place is just way to trendy for Hamilton...lol. Fancy bird cages on the ceilings and avant garde art...simply gorgeous. I like that we are classing up Hamilton...about time!
An excellent, expansive menu that's sure to have something for everyone....I had some combo with meatballs, spring rolls and thin noodles...delish!
A couple of things prevented me giving a higher rating which I would have based on the food:
1) Waitresses are nowhere to be found. As the other reviewer noted, be prepared to wait for service.
2) Huge oil slick underneath my foot - so some reason, there was a gigantic oil puddle right underneath my foot...LOL...maybe someone dumped it while cleaning..I dunno. All I do know is that my foot was slipping and siding underneath and it was so gross I went to the bathroom to get some papertowels to layer ontop...which leads me to point #3
3) Dirty bathroom. If a bathroom in a restaurant is dirty, this pretty much sets the mood for me to wonder what the kitchen is like...I just get grossed out. The finishes in the bathroom were very modern and nice, just filthy - the urinal, the sinks...yuck. The bathroom needed a good cleaning the day I was there - smelled pretty gross. Lucky for me, they had an ample supply of paper towels to address the oil slick situation back at the table.. LOL
I will repeat based on food, but let's hope they get their cleaning act together given the prices. -

Great food, great atmosphere.
Only complaint is the service staff could be a little more on the ball, be prepared to wait at your table for service.
