Had an ancient macbook that was dying on me, SpeedGeek had a guy come over the same day, replaced my old 80gb hard drive with a brand new 500gb one, now i have plenty of space for all my stuff, service was pleasant, professional and very affordable!

Efficient, thorough, friendly, patient, answered MANY extremely basic questions without laughing at me, drastically rounded DOWN the time he spent on my work (!!), proactively suggested other unrelated solutions and ideas without being asked, was flexible with his time, and provided excellent and fast communication throughout. Offered followup work at no charge! Who does that???
As another reviewer noted, I got the impression his main goal was to SAVE me money and time. Tell me the last time that happened to you with any service, of any kind, anywhere.
I wouldn't hesitate to return to him or recommend him. One in a million -

If you need your computer fixed, SpeedGeek is your company and Yoav is the man.
My wife had my laptop fixed a couple of months ago. I read the reviews on Yelp for various firms and found SpeedGeek to be the Best. I was not wrong. He was great. He walked my wife through the process and explained what needed to be done. I think it took an hour or so and my baby was working better than ever.
Price point was $90 to fix. I felt his rates were very reasonable for this type of work.
He is very busy. I think he is a one man operation so it is a little hard to reach him, even with email and messages. Please wait the wait. He is worth it. Fair. Reasonable. Knowledgeable.

All I can say is, Yoav was our main IT guy at our small, real estate firm.
None of us really knew what was going on with our computers whenever they malfunctioned, and it was nice to know that I could call Yoav and he'd be there asap.
He also set up our small office server for us, which was very much needed because we desperately needed to share files between computers for all our legal work.
Thanks again, speedgeek! -

Say your brother decides to download porn and some spyware inadverntly onto your computer, then doesn't want you to find out...so he deletes it along with a bunch of other stuff onto your computer, you have a few options.
1) Check out the porn your brother downloaded (gross, seriously, WTF)
2) Eye your keyboard with suspicion becuase if he dowloaded porn, lord knows what he was doing ( hand sanitizer)
3) Attempt to kill brother ( sadly...this is still illegal in this country)
4) Attempt to have your brother Drawn & Quartered ( again...it sadly still illegal)
5) Call Speed Geek
While i did attempt option number 3, 4 was sorta hard becuase, well there aren't any tools to have someone drawn and quartered lately. Lucky for me, i went with No. 5.
I absolutely adore this computer guy, other than the obvious fact that he did an excellent job fixing my computer and not judging me by the porn found (I swear it wasn't mine...besides...why watch porn on the computer screen when i have a 60 inch tv, but i digress). He did an excellent job fixing my computer, updated as many applications as he could, i.e. Microsoft word, cleaned up my itunes collection...which was a mess.
He is excellent at setting up networks, removing adware and a host of other crap that was wrong with my computer that i'm too absent minded to figure out.
In case i haven't made my point clear, should you need your computer fixed because your brother is a douche bag who downloaded porn onto it, and any other problems, go with Speed Geek! -

Yoav totally made a confusing computer situation into a smooth and transparent repair process.
He is patient and generous with his time, and you can see that he sincerely cares.
When parts arrived way ahead of when they were expected, he called me to tell me he got the parts, and if I could pick it up that day, he would finish the repair right away. Can't beat that.
I would completely recommend Yoav. He is great to work with. -

I don't have much else to add here except - I second what everyone else here! In addition, while Yoav was fixing my laptop, I was offered ice tea and cookie :) That always makes everything better.
Very personable and caring service. Also if you have time, you can drop your computer off, and you won't be charged for traveling time. -

So I dropped my computer like the spaz I can be sometimes, and kept getting this grey screen that told me "to call a professional if I kept seeing this grey screen." Having heard mixed reviews about the standard Geek Squad-type operations I turned to good old Yelpers to steer me towards good computer care.
And steer me they did! Yoav is dope ass. I was heading to the area so was able to drop it off within the hour--he knew what was wrong in like two minutes, ordered the part, started recovering what he could from my smashed hard drive, and off I went. Despite my ridiculous schedule (and his) he was extremely accommodating about meeting up so I could have my computer before I went out of town.
He suggested getting a faster, bigger hard drive (a difference of $20) and my computer is running AMAAAAZING. Like, better than when it was fresh out of the box and didn't have 3000 songs and 21241909 photos on it. Ok, yes he didn't invent the processor or anything but he fully unleashed the beast in my computer. Andddd he put in updated Windows software and replaced my ghetto version of another program. Recommend? Hells yes.
Bonus: He looks like Fogell (aka McLovin). WHO DOESN'T LOVE MCLOVIN? -

I am very sorry we ever did business with Speedgeek.
I hired Speedgeek a few months ago to restore my system after a hard drive crash. The work was not very good, and my computer has never worked right since then. This has resulted in a billing dispute that will probably end up in Small Claims Court.
This is a legitimate review from an actual Speedgeek customer. Write to me and I'll show you their invoice.
Updated 02/08/2010 - Yoav E, owner of Speedgeek, has left two retaliatory reviews of my business (Knowledge Movers) on Yelp, one in his own name and the other under a pseudonym. Now you can see what we're dealing with.

what kind of horrible person are you? I should have trusted my gut when I first met you and never done any business with you again. Judging by your profile - 22 - 1 star review (and no friends) you're a very negative person that's just looking to hurt other people.
How old are you, 5 ??
You should be ashamed of yourself for your behavior.
this owner should be banned from doing business. Sending threatening emails to people who have paid in full and not receiving the service they deserve is shameful.

I arranged an appointment with SpeedGeek and everything on my list was completed - from the really important and complicated fixes to the this-is-why-we-hire-a-professional twelve-second repairs. Yoav even gave me a few helpful hints for making my online shopping experience better (since I told him I am an online shopping junkie). I then suggested to my boss that we should have him come in to do some work at our small law firm and he did, with a reasonable invoice following prompt service (including a phone / remote-in session when I had other questions). Why not 5 stars? Well, he was about an hour late to our first appointment, although he did keep updating me on his actual ETA via text (I think saying "nearby" shouldn't mean another 30 minutes). That is really frustrating. Luckily he was meeting me at my home for an evening appointment, and I was doing chores while I waited. So, Yoav's a solid guy and knows what he's doing, and I'm glad we chose SpeedGeek and will do so again!

SpeedGeek is great! Yoav is friendly and helpful and I swear he knows everything! He took the time to explain to me what he was doing with my computer and why--without being condescending or getting frustrated with my lack of knowledge. I got the impression that he wanted to save me money, too--and NOT just waste my time so he could run up a big bill--so bonus points for fairness and honesty. Plus his rates are significantly less expensive than any other tech support around (I think Geek Squad charges twice as much per hour or something crazy like that).

I won't go into details on what Yoav did for me and my computer issues recently but I will say that he went above and beyond yet again, he's a real life saver. In an industry full of greedy IT guys trying to get every penny from you for every second they even consider looking at a computer or dishing out advice its refreshing to find someone as helpful as Yoav who doesn't fit that mold. You really won't find computer assistance this knowledgeable and reasonable anywhere else so don't even bother looking. Thanks again Yoav!

Yoav is great: he knows what he is doing, explains it all in non-geek speak and he gives useful tips along the way. This is such a good investment. I believe that it is so useful to have him out when nothing is wrong but just to service the machine and make sure all is ok. His recommendations actually saved me money as well. How is that for 5 stars!!

I may just be echoing what everyone else seems to have said, but I found Yoav to be personable, easygoing, friendly, intelligent and (best of all) extremely helpful. His rates are very reasonable and he even came to my office to save me the trip to his place. I recommend him highly.

Yoav definitely knows his stuff. In addition to fixing the problems that I originally called him in for, he upgraded the functionality of pretty much everything else on my computer too. He's a real cutie, it's like having "McLovin" show up at your door. His hours are very flexible for when you need him which is also a big plus.

Yoav was amazing, fast, conscientious and comprehensive. My crazy computer virus was removed while I snacked on tea and cookies. He also fixed up my computer in other ways I would have had no idea were broken. He's definitely my go-to guy for technical maladies, mac or pc.

What can I say about Yoav that hasn't already been said? It's true. He's awesome. Intelligent, friendly, sweet & of course, extremely helpful. My poor laptop had been so sick until one nite it crashed. I called Yoav & he talked me thru some tests. A few days later I went to his place & he began working on my laptop. I felt very comfortable as he is the perfect host. He even let me pick out a movie to watch while I waited & offered me tea and biscuits! :-) They were yummy too. As everyone has said, his rates are very reasonable. He cleaned up my laptop, getting rid of useless programs, updating the necessary ones & installed great anti-virus software. It's like I have a whole new computer! It runs like a dream & anytime I've had questions he's been quick to answer. After hearing how good my experience was, my best friend brought her laptop to him a few days after I did & she's very pleased as well. I highly recommend him!

I first hired Yoav to set up my personal computer over 4 years ago. Since then I have continuously relied on Yoav for both business and personal needs. As a Director of a small non profit I appreciate Yoav's balance of great, reliable, friendly service with attention to keeping the cost down.
