You won't find better service in any eye wear shop in the city. I've even found service at high end optical shops in NY that aren't as good as at Spectacle.
The staff are trained so well to find what you want and what will suit you. Darren + Emma are the best.
They carry only the highest quality lines made from the best acetates that will withstand a lifetime of proximity to lotions, potions, make-up & poor air quality.
They've also got a few different types of mirrors to use so you're completely clear on how things fit you. -

BOTTOM LINE: Their flagship store is especially impressive and it's no suprise that their stores are consistently awarded as the best luxury eyewear retailers in the city.
Spectacle has, quite possibly, some of the best selection of luxury (sun) glasses in the city, but be prepared to drop some serious coin if you want a pair! Other boutique stores have been popping up along this Queen West strip, but Spectacle remains my favourite.
Depending on the brand, you may be able to find it for cheaper at other luxury eyewear stores such as Minh Chau in China Town. I've purchased from this Spectacle before and have never felt the staff to be pushy.
Compared their Distillery District site, this place simply has more selection, is better staffed, is opened for longer hours and is more easily accessible.
As a general statement to all the Spectacle shops, they offer a great service to add permanent nose pads to your plastic-framed glasses for ~$30 that are more aesthetically pleasing (arguably) and certainly more durable than the silicon stickies some places will give you. They'll replace future nose pads for free. A must if you have the "Asian bridge" or just don't like how plastic frames will inevitably slide down when there's even a bit of oil or sweat.
They provide this service on-site, so it can be done the same day! I've had two pairs of Oliver Peoples modded here over the past year and they've worked spectacularly (wah wah wah!). I regularly frequent this store to get my glasses adjusted and have always been greeted by friendly staff who will offer you free bottles of water, eye clothes (which an amazing print of checkered faces) and even adjustment kits! It's hard to top this, folks. -

Earlier this week I broke my glasses in half, which was not very wonderful. So I went looking for new frames. Spectacle made it really easy for me to find what I wanted. Great selection of quality frames, mostly from independant (not Luxxotica) brands. The staff were friendly and helpful, showing me what they had and then backing off to let me choose. I chose some frames and they put the lenses in for me while I waited (impressed by this).
I've been to quite a few glasses stores in Toronto, and Spectacle had probably the best selection of anywhere I'd been. Highly recommended. Incidentally, I ended up with a pair of round, tortoise shell frames from Paul Smith ($285). -

They have a really great selection of high quality, vintage/progressive style frames. Like others have said, the staff are friendly and not pushy at all. If you like a particular frame, they will let you know if it looks good on your face or if it doesn't. Seems like they have your best interest at heart.

Though I hadn't even bought my glasses from Spectacle, they treated me like a valued customer when I came in to repair one of the temples. Despite the high-end frames, zero attitude emanated from the salespeople. And the woman who helped me refused to take money for the service they rendered. Behind the high-gloss facade beats the heart of a true neighborhood business.

Went in randomly with a friend of mine because he wanted to check out some frames
Only to experience this tall Caucasian douche bag wearing glasses to step on my shoes twice, once was an accident, the second was deliberate
Also called in to get a price quote to put in some basic tinted lenses into a frame I have, was quoted $180 among other stores like Lens Crafters and what not, went to Chinatown the lady told me $20 and it will be ready tomorrow
To Spectacle, blow me -

Good selection, but expensive and the staff are idiots. Never heard of customer service. The Yonge and Eglinton location is a bit better but the optician is really rude and the service is slooooowww. Don't waste your time and money, go somewhere else.
