All right how many times have we driven by here and as always said wow there's a BBQ place out in the middle of no where.  I would really like to try that out.  Its a small quaint little spot.

So we went in on Saturday evening prior to heading back to Queens from a long day of shopping.  What a way to wrap up a perfect day with an outstanding meal.

The staff is friendly and willing to make special requests on any meal on the menu.  So lets start with the eval:

    Cleanliness -         5 out of 5
    Friendliness -        4.5 out of 5
    Food Choices -      5 out of 5
Accuracy of order - 5 out of 5

Overall:  24.5 out of 25 (almost a perfect score)

So the dishes....  The Sparky's "Award Winning" wings live up to the name.  Crisp on the outside, perfectly sauced and succulent and juicy on the inside....  The sauce....do I need to say anything it stands alone....

We also got the sampler plate...
I must insist you try the sweet potato fries they are the best by far that I have ever had...  Crispy on the outside and puffs of steamed heaven on the inside.  The pulled pork was great and so was the chicken...  The brisket was my one disappointment I have had better did not live up to the Texas name.

Overall I do not think you will be disappointed and there is always room here...  It is worth the drive.

I checked their website before coming here and saw that i might make happy hour, which was advertised as ending at 8pm. I got here at 7:35, and the sign on the door said that happy hour ended at 7. Poop.

I still ventured inside and took a seat at the bar. The friendly staff directed me to a few available seats. I took a seat in the far corner and was immediately recognized by the bartender.

I ordered a water and saw that there was a yuengling poster on the wall. To my delight, they had yuengling on tap.  I ordered a pint and waited only about 7 minutes for my food.

I ordered ribs again, hoping that these would be better than the previous night's and they were.  They were slightly spicy an firmer than the ribs at famous dave's, indicitive of actual smoking for a long period of time rather than boiling to achieve the same texture.

The ribs came with jalapeño cornbread (or regular if you feel so inclined) and their baked beans. I would recommend the jalapeño cornbread over the regular, as the heat from the peppers gives a nice contrast to the sweet cornbread. The baked beans were full of soft meat that was shredded.

I can't wait for the dessert of tollhouse pie!  The tollhouse pie was a little mushy, but still tasty.  Right after I started dessert, the jukebox started playing "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" and everyone started singing.  So cute!

At a first glance it may appear to just be a bar, but the food at this BBQ spot shouldn't be missed.  They have a small dining room, and extra tables in the bar area.  Though the food is amazing, it seems as if word hasn't been getting around that well, because there's always plenty of seats available.

Sparky's claims "award winning" chicken wings.  Many establishments claim to have "award winning" menu items that tend to taste as if they're nothing special, but this is by far not the case here.  Their chicken wings are the perfect combination of crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside, and seasoned with a blend of both hot and sweet spices so heavenly that I just drooled a little bit thinking of how to describe them.

The main courses, while not quite as legendary, were still delectable.  I recommend trying their sampler dinner, which consists of brisket, pulled pork, and chicken.  Sadly, they don't offer the barbecue chicken from the sampler as a meal, though I plan on asking if that would be a possibility the next time I dine there.  Out of the side dishes, the sweet potato fries were excellent, as well as the over-sized piece of cornbread, which was moist and a little warm.

Felt like I was in the middle of Texas or something (not a bad thing since we were after some bbq). The place seems more geared to the bar crowd- the place is basically split in half, the bar to the left, "dining room" to the right.  The dining area was definitely odd- there were 3 or 4 tables and a pool table in the middle of the tiny room.... just weird.

Started with the award winning wings- they were excellent. Good flavor in the bbq sauce and nice and crisply cooked. Also had the nachos with chili, nothing too special- just a bunch of ground beef on a bunch of nachos pretty much.

I had the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich wasn't too bad but the pork was a little dry- had to add a bunch of the bbq sauce they put on the table. Sweet potato fries were awesome though!

Worth going back as theres not too much good bbq in the area.

I am sad to say that it was my first visit to this establishment on Saturday.  Where have I been???  I moved out of Huntington a few months ago and never heard of this place 'til this past weekend.

This place is in an industrial type of area and at first glance seems out of place. The first thing I noticed when I went in was how clean and bright it was inside.  That was a definite plus!

My gf and I read that the "Award winning" wings were the way to go.  So, we order the wings, the sampler which contained bbq chicken, pulled pork, and brisket with a side of Mac N Cheese and Sweet potato fries.  DELICIOUS.  Sauce not needed.

The wings were amazing.  The sauce is finger-licking good!  The Mac N Cheese is a ten with real cheese sauce! Fries, crispy on the outside and steamy and moist on the inside.  The chicken had a nice char of the dry rub on the outside and surprisingly juicy inside.
I am not a big fan of brisket, but this one won me over.  I can't even explain it... that's how good it was. The pulled pork was tangy with a mild hint of heat and was the star on that dish.

I have not had BBQ this good in downstate NY.  I left totally complacent and with promises to return.

Needed to kill some time before a movie, and what better way to do that than going to a BBQ place on a service road amongst industrial complex after industrial complex?

Sparky's was pretty laid back for a Saturday night. Not too crowded, pretty quick service. Our waitress kept the beers coming. I got the sampler platter, in order to judge the most meats for the cheapest amount. It was a platter of chicken, pulled pork, and brisket, and it was...pretty meh. Edible, but nothing memorable.

What I liked best about Sparky's was, again, how relaxed and uncrowded it was. This is a place I'd like to come and drink a few beers at, but not really one I'd love to eat at.

    Please go to Sparky's!

I am sick of good places closing down. Sparky's has great food and staff but is being dragged down by a horrible location.

I used to work in Farmingdale and would head to Sparky's for a pulled pork sandwich on my lunch hour every once in a while. They have a terrific pork that is served "dry" and can be complimented with their tasty house sauces.

My wife loves their bbq chicken though I have never tried it myself.

We both agree that the brisket is pretty tired and the macaroni and cheese lacks craveability. But the french fries are yummy so who needs sides?

When my mother wanted to take me out to lunch for my birthday I told her, "meet me at Sparky's". When my wife and I took a stay-cation to the Huntington Hilton where did we spend our Saturday night? Sparky's. When I cross that dreaded Nassau/Suffolk line where am I headed? Probably my brother's house. But I'm thinking of Sparky's.

    I can't believe I just typed "stay-cation". God I'm lame.

    Stop reading. Go to Sparky's.

Sparky's Texas BBQ has been on my list of go-to places in Melville. I finally had the chance to check out the place during lunch yesterday. Finding it was a bit hard as it is in the middle of an industrial/commercial area. The restaurant  is located on the North-west corner of New Highway and Sherwood Ave. There is no street sign, except for the plastic/nylon banner that is strung in the front of the entrance, above the main entrance.

Walking in around 12:15 pm for lunch, immediately to your right is a small dining room with 6-9 tables. It almost feels as if you are walking into someone's house with the plain white walls and simple tables with nylon cloths on top.  To the left is the bar area which has another 8-10 tables and several seats to sit at the full bar. There were a couple TV's above the bar tuned in to several sports games. Just next to the bar area is the bathrooms. The men's bathroom is a single room with a toilet, urinal and sink in a tiny 5'x5' room. The bathroom was a bit dirty, and there was a fly or two buzzing around in the bathroom. I got out of there as soon as possible.

It took a couple minutes before a waitress came to seat us. I let her know only three of us were there, and three more were on the way. She gladly said no worries, and asked if we wanted to sit in the bar area or dining room. We chose to sit in the dining room. After our whole party had arrived, we put our orders in, I ordered Beef Brisket Hero ($9.95) which was on their Special menu. The Beef Brisket Hero consisted of beef brisket on a typical-sized hero with mozarella cheese, topped with their signature BBQ sauce, with a small portion of sweet potato fries and a small plastic container of cole slaw on the side. It took a lengthy 15 minutes for our food to arrive at the table. The waitress had never came by once to ask if everything was alright or let us know the status of our orders. The hero and fries were served in a plastic basket, on top of a piece of deli-like wrap paper. The beef brisket was slightly charred on the outside, meat tender but slightly dry on the inside. The BBQ sauce and mozarella cheese helped take the edge off and made the sandwich surprisingly better than expected. The sweet potato fries were delicious, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Yum! The cole slaw was slightly bland and nothing to rave about.

During our whole lunch, we were the only one's in the dining room and there were only 2 couples eating in the bar area. Expect things to be pretty quiet here during lunch, most likely attributed to the fact that a lot of people would not expect restaurants in the area. The waitress did come by once or twice during our meal to see if we needed anything else, which was an improvement from when we were waiting for our food. The food was decent, not great but neither bad. If in the mood for BBQ, I might consider coming back here, especially for those yummy wings!
