I love the selection of Matt and Nat bags here!! All pieces that I find at Spank feel so unique, it's great. I feel like I don't have to worry about seeing someone else wearing the exact same thing as me, like how I feel when I wear Aritzia. They have really awesome jackets and coats that will make you believe that more is better (who says less is more anyways?!).

They also have a great selection of shoes here... but if shoes are what you're really craving - check out Spank Shoes on West 4th.

I enjoy the variety of clothing lines they have available here. Everything from coats, to tops, and dresses. Usually unique items that you don't have to worry about everyone else owning. Their shoes are also very unique, and I loved the wide selection of Matt and Nat purses. This past visit, they didn't have any M&N and so I'm not sure if they're still carrying them or not?

What decreased our guest experience was the extreme-o urine odour when entering the store. I understand that they're located on Granville and our visit was on a Sunday, but yuck. The smell followed us throughout the store. The two sales people didn't speak to us once, despite being the only other people in the store, and instead sang along with the music playing and talked about the urine smell.

I'll return for clothing but typically don't expect much of a shopping experience at this location.

As I was walking down Granville last week, I was drawn into 'Spank Clothing' by the funky displays in the entryway.

I proceeded to make a bee line for the dress that had caught my eye when I was accosted by a member of the sales staff. This was easily the most overzealous sales girl i've ever encountered, anywhere. I tried to seem polite but dismissive, based on the fact that I didn't want to hear the running commentary of useless fillers that sales people use: "Isn't that great?", "That's actually on sale.", "Shall I add that to your change room?" Needless to say I was very put off by this pushy approach. I just wanted to browse in peace! The final straw was when she started pulling items and bringing them over for my approval: "This would look great on you." me: "I disagree."

I left the shop without purchasing anything based on feeling hounded. Won't be back to 'Spank' at this location. Might check out the shoe version of this shop on West 4th though.

If the name isn't enough to entice you to step in, the clothes, shoes and accessories will do it for you!  I love this little shop off Granville, particularly the gorgeous selection of fall/winter jackets and sweaters that pop up at this time of year.  The shoes and boots are mad cute and they also carry earth-friendly Matt and Nat handbags and wallets.  Count me in for a fab sweater dress this fall!

I really like the selection and service at Spank on West 4th, so when I met up with a friend downtown for a day of shopping, I thought I'd visit the Granville street location.  Unfortunately, I had the same experience as Courtney M.  It doesn't seem like her complaints about overzealous sales staff has done any good, even a year and a half later.  The instant an item went off the clothing rack so I could take a better look in my hands, a staff member swooped down and asked if I would like to try it on.  Now, I understand that some customers like this kind of attention and want to be waited on hand and foot, but my friend and I were enjoying some girly shopping/chatting time together and it was very obvious that coming up to us, interrupting our conversation, and making unnecessary commentaries on whether the item was a good price or not, was NOT welcomed.  To add to that, I did not like being told to try a dress on that I had not picked out myself.  The sales staff has absolutely no idea what I was looking for; she didn't even ask... just decided to pick a dress off a rack, knock on my dressing room door, and tell me she had a dress that I'd love.  Really?  How does she know what my style is?  The way I dress on the weekend is not how I dress in the office.

There is a fine line between being helpful and being pushy.  Do they get commission on the items they sell???  The staff at the Granville location definitely need to be retrained on how to read their customers, know when to approach someone and get a fitting room started for them, and know when to back off and let them peruse at their own pleasure!!!
