We love Spago Trattoria and usually have dinner there at least once a month.  The quality of the food is always excellent and the staff is great. We know many of the waiters by name. We have had many family gatherings there for birthdays, anniversaries and graduations and had a great experience.

The pizzas are great as well as the pasta dishes.

The tiramisu is THE BEST in the city. In fact, the best I've ever had.

Like my husband says, "Dollar for dollar you can't find a better restaurant than Spago."

The best Italian restaurant on Erie Street, in my opinion.

FYI: The restaurant is now at the corner at 690 Erie St. E., not 614.

Well,I haven't been to Spago's in many years. We usually eat upstairs but was told that it was being renovated. I have a feeling that's a lie,but we ate downstairs anyways, thinking it would be the same.Well,it wasn't, the calamari was bland as well as the salad.I had to put salt and more vinegar so it had some sort of taste.Along with that the service was REALLY slow. There were 3 tables full, yet it took well over 10 minutes to get our app, then 10 minutes more to get the salad. Then we split the rigatoni and the capers were so bitter it was hard to eat.I will be trying another italian restaurant in the area from now on!!!!!!

Being 20 years old, my friends and I travel four hours to Windsor quite often, specifically for the nightlife. This past time, we tried out Spago and fell in love. The food, service, and environment is absolutely perfect. It is a bit pricey for a college student's budget but is well worth it. We will definitely be coming back soon!

I've been coming to Spago for years with my Grandparents whenever we venture to Canada to shop on Erie street.

After a long day of hoopla, we indulge in the offerings of this authentic Italian eatery.

The ambiance is very quaint: wooden/wicker tables and seats, red tablecloths, beat-up old murals for wallpaper.

The staff is always friendly and ready to help you with whatever cuisine you decide to order.

The best things on the menu are their pizzas, all of them, which are baked in a wood burning stove. The crust is thin and crispy with a bold flavor. The sauce isn't overbearing and has a great flavor to it. All their ingredients are always fresh and delicious. Seriously, one of the best pies, I've ever had.

Their grilled calamari is to DIE FOR! The squid is grilled, which enables it have a smokey, almost woody, taste to it. It's as tender as can be and is then tossed in a robust balsamic vinegar marinade. Heaven! SO light and indulgent.

Everything, really is amazing, the pasta with muscles are another great option. The sauce that they pair it with is PERFECT for a seafood dish, I could sop it up with a biscuit.

If you venture into Canada, please make this a stop. It's a hop, skip and a jump from the tunnel too!

The best Italian food around! My family and I have been going there for quite some time and we have always had phenomenal food and service. Highly, highly recommend the trip.

Spago's seems to be the only authentic Italian restaurant in Windsor or Detroit. I have never been disappointed here as everything is homemade to perfection. The thing I like about this place is that the prices are extremely reasonable, the service is incredible and it is a casual place.

There is only one place where I have seen such a talented wait staff as Spagos and that is on Mackinac Island in Grand Hotel's main dining room. These waiters at Spagos will amaze you, almost as thougn that they have eyes in the back of their head.

In the front of the restaurant, there is a pizza oven that is very unique and the kitchen is somewhat open where you can see all the action. Every noodle is homemade and the house wine is like heaven.

There is a more formal dining room upstairs, but I like the lower restaurant as it is casual. I have never been to a restaurant with better service, ever ! The maitre d' watches everything and the waiters never  miss a beat. This is how a restaurant should be, impeccable.

I have been to many Italian restaurants and this is the best I have been to. Nothing in Detroit compares to Spago's and it is one of the best in Canada.

Spago's pizza is in a class of it's own as well. It is the traditional flat thin crust Italian pizza, but it is so good. When it comes to pizza alone, it's Spago's is one of the very best there is !

No one has better service than here !

We decided to go here before a concert at the casino after seeing some favorable reviews on Yelp and some other websites.  We have been to a few other Italian places on Erie St. before, but never Spago.

We had to wait around 15 minutes for a table on a Saturday night.   The menu had so many options!  We decided on a calamari di mara for an appetizer (which was calamari, scallops and shrimp with a light vinegarette) a pizza with artichokes, ham, black olives and mushrooms and Penne Spago.

We were really happy with our choices, the pizza was good, but if we would have just ordered that, we would probably not make the trip over the border for just that again.  Now the Penne Spago on the other hand..to die for!  The sauce they used to pair the noodles with the ham and mushrooms in the dish was nothing like I had ever had before.  I will definitely be dealing with Customs to have that again!  The appetizer was also delicious.  Very fresh and light.

I was disappointed our bread basket was not filled after just having a couple very small pieces, but it was not a deal breaker.

This place is excellent.  It is right below the Spago Ristorante - this is the more casual version of the upstairs restaurant.  In addition to a good selection of Italian classics, they make thin crust pizza in a stone oven!  It is so good.
Just like the upstairs version, they have excellent service.  A minor detail that made a big impression: the waiters/bus boys NEVER let your water glass get empty.  We have been there numerous times, and my husband (I know - it's a little silly) tried to block the glass to see if he could drink all of his water before it was refilled.  The waiter just waited until my husband wasn't looking and filled the glass before it was empty.

yum! solid lunch - my boy and i went here on a lazy sunday afternoon when we wanted to try something new.

the atmosphere was nice & the service was attentive, it was freezing outside so the kitchen w/ the oven being in full view large-ish parties of families eating made it feel cozy.

i ordered a house red and the boy got coffee, both good. loved the roasted garlic clove w. bread!

He ordered a crazy pasta dish with olives, capers, bacon, basil, sausage, sun-dried tomatoes and loved it. i got manicotti w/tomato sauce - it was really really good. both had side salads.

ummm but what made a really solid 3 star lunch 4 stars???
    the tiramisu!!!!!

i got no appetizers so i was ready for dessert. the waiter was oddly spitting out "tiramisu" on repeat. but i am going to make very thorough and informed choices when dessert is concerned, so i asked to see the dessert menu. when the waiter brought the menu and i immediately identified that they had to be... FROZEN?!!! no. no dessert. ugh.

but wait...the waiter was still on repeat with new information ... the tiramisu is homemade!

and wow is it ever. i loved it. generously dusted with cocoa and soaked just right, it's going to bring me back.

yes, the 8 dollar border fare is worth it.
