Fun, clean, inexpensive...all that and a bag of chips as they say. This has become a regular spot for my partner and I to go with "the child". The water recreation part is our usual destination. We like it because there is something for kids and adults of all ages and while it is a popular place, it never seems to be too busy to enjoy. With a steam room and hot tub area (read: where grownups outnumber the kids) to the wave pool and waterslides, it is a great place to spend a few hours. I've always been impressed by how clean and well kept the facility is and how friendly the staff are too. They have vending machines as well as a small food kiosk onsite.
We've also been to a few different birthday parties here, from a jumping castle party (I believe you can rent them through Southland and they have tables for pizza afterwards) to swim parties, it seems to be a favourite of the birthday party circuit. -

Wow. I can't believe that Southland has been around this whole time and still going strong. One of my earliest memories as a doe-eyed child newly arrived in Canada was going to this place. I remember being blown away by the waterpark and in wanting to do everything my friends did, forgot to mention that I couldn't swim. This leads to me discovering the deep end where the slide drops off and a sudden flash of panic, leading to me being saved by lifeguard with the hairiest armpits I could remember.
Trauma aside, in my recent visit I discovered how much this place has improved. It's almost like a mini-Talisman center. Their weight room doesn't have a track but compensates with great equipment. Their change room area is vast and provides easy transition to the waterpark. I also saw that they had a gymnastics area w/ rock climbing wall that I couldn't get to because it was closed (probably required bookings) but it would've been a sweet way to practice some drills.
Shame I live quite far, this would've made for a decent gym to join

A great place to go with the family!!
Pool gets busy on weekends, especially holidays.
They offer a great discount if you are with your child and only going to stay an hour (that's about all the kiddies can last anyway).
Family change room is pretty crowded and someone walked away with my flip flops one time. (hopefully an accident since the family change room is all parents and children etc).
As long as you lock up your belongings you will have a great time with the whole family!!! -

The Southland Leisure Centre is tons of fun. This is probably one of the biggest recreation centres in the city offering a massive wave pool, brand new slides, a stellar weight room, running tracks, an arena area, arcades, a sport shop, and plenty of other active life opportunities.
The staff here are super friendly and the place isn't all that expensive either. It's really clean too. Their change rooms are big and provide guests with plenty of lockers, showers, and all the rest.
Day care is available as well as day camps for kids. Everyone who has been loves this place. And despite being an old man now, I still enjoy a rip on their slides and a dip in their hot tub on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
