Yup; "there's a bitch of a boss" is what the sandwich board out front says.... But more like a nice bitch, all of then for that matter... The girls are super cute, love pets, and always happy with a sweet Eastside tattoo look going on... Oh but the pet food and toys are very well priced and less than most stores. I like coming here so the bitchin boss's flirt with my dog and I get all the enjoyment...

Our vet, Dr Calland, recommended we check out Sophie's for their great selection of supplements, herbal remedies, and selection of raw and premium processed foods. We were greeted by the owner (Sophie? no, the namesake was her pug who was her inspiration to open the store). One gets the feeling that she is very passionate about providing our companion animals with the best. I've never seen such a large selection of collars and other goodies. Definitely worth the trek to Commercial Drive. The great eats in the hood are just a bonus :-)

Sophie's Pet Palace's slogan is "Where a bitch is the boss." They've got a huge selection of Petstages toys, which remind me of developmental baby toys. I love those things. When my dog Henry was a puppy he slept with a "puppy cuddle pal," that could be heated for warmth. Aww. Sophie's also sells food, treats, and doggie clothing.

Our space is filled with a vast and ever-changing selection of toys, clothing, leashes, collars and specialized equipment. Above and beyond what you would expect from other pet stores, our small staff is invested, devoted to pets and extremely knowledgeable. We are committed to improving your dog or cat's quality of life, and creating an experience which will have them scratching at the door or pulling you down the street to get here!
History
Established in 1998
Sophie's just turned twelve years old...Mazeltov! We came to be when the store's namesake, Sophie the pug, passed away from complications before her time. Our owner realized the importance of making raw food and natural health care products, along with pertinent and objective advice, available to the public so that their pets would be less likely to suffer the same fate.
Meet the Manager: Lodi and Fievel B.
While they would like to believe that they manage the store, Lodi and Fievel are actually more like...doggie liasons-in-residence. Of the Toy Australian Shepherd persuasion, these brothers work in tandem to help you select your merchandise and rid you of those pesky pocket-cookies. They are adept at cuddling - if you drop by to pick up supplies after a hard work week and need some tlc - and are happy to model the latest fashions when requested. If you're perusing Commercial Drive, keep your eyes open! These little red magoos are often on the street, and just might entice you to come inside the store for a licking.
