Threw my fiancé his 30th birthday here as a surprise party. The staff did an amazing job at putting together the tasting and ensuring that all of the guests were having a good tome. We had the wine and food pairing, which if you're really hungry isn't a full meal, but was of excellent quality. As our reservation was for later in the evening most of the attendees had already had dinner but found the food to be excellently prepared and well paired for the wine service.

I am so happy with sherry and her team, everyone who attended said they would go back thanks to the excellent food and service.

I would go back thanks to how helpful sherry was at arranging the party.

We spent a very enjoyable evening here recently and have already booked another reservation to share this lovely wine room with friends. Kudos to Executive Chef Neil Chamberlain! The food was amazing, both in flavor and in the beautiful presentation.
The camembert was sinfully good, but we also loved the albondigas and the frites. Lovely experience. Can't wait to return!

Our group just grabbed a quick drink here but the room is nice and I would return to try out some cheeses on another occasion.

We went last Friday to meet friends for vino and tapas. The menu was surprisingly not very tapas friendly - wine bar and tapas seem an ideal fit to me, but maybe I'm off the mark. We shared everything anyway.

The 'gourmet' grill cheese sandwiches were lovely, the goat chess confit was delicious (with confit garlic mushrooms, herbs and goat cheese on sourdough). The Somerville classic was tasty (gruyere with baked prosciutto on pagnotta).

The charcuterie & artisanal cheese plate was a bit small and we ended up also ordering the  artisanal cheese plate as we were still hungry. The blancmange was amazing (goat cheese including a few blackberries and slices of wine poached pear & a small sable breton cookie).

The sommelier was very enthusiastic and not at all pretentious. Ask him for his thoughts on what he smells or tastes in your selection and you will be treated to a very interesting discussion.

A lot of Nora Jones and other similar jazzy stylings for background music made this a very pleasant evening. A bit disappointed with the menu options and size of sharable plates, the bill seamed a bit on the high side, but i think at the end of the day it was not entirely out of line after the entire meal.

This place just opened up about a month or so ago across the street from Duchess Bake Shop on 124 St, and a friend of mine was really excited to try it (mostly because Duchess also makes their desserts! (http://www.facebook.co...)

We finally made it on a Monday night and the place was pretty quiet. They've got a piano in the corner for live music (I assume on busier nights), and the atmosphere is great.

The service was good, and the server seemed knowledgeable about their (not as big as I was expecting) wine menu. I had a goat cheese and mushroom grilled cheese, which was delicious, and I tried a bit of my friend's goat cheese blancmange, which was amazing. They've got a small menu right now, with some fancy grilled cheese sandwiches, various cheese related appetizers, and the desserts, but they've apparently got a chef arriving at the end of the month and will have a full menu at that point. I'm looking forward to checking that out. It's great to see more restaurants opening up in the 124 st area.

My fiance, a friend and I were eager to support a new restaurant in Edmonton.

It turned out to be the worse experience of our dining lives.

    1) They refused to make anything without meat. Direct quote from the MANAGER: "Our chef does not destroy the integrity of his dishes for special interest groups."
We were told that people with "special needs" have veggie restaurants they can go to! I asked for any dish prepared without meat & was told "the kitchen is too small to make substitutions." The substituions I requested? I asked for the grilled ham and cheese without ham(!)

    2) THEN, the server crumpled up the bill & THREW IT at my friend.

    3) The manager said many people walk out every day b/c SOMERVILLE has a "real" chef who refuses to accomodate "people with special needs" like "no meat" or "peanut allergy" or "lactose inloterant." She said he is a "real" chef, and their restaurant cannot compromise their integrity.

    4) Our group, a doctor, executive & professor, fine dine frequently without issue. My fiance and I were recently in NYC and diner at Babo, EMP and La Bernadin. I'm pescotarian (I eat fish but no meat) and not ONCE did any of the revered chefs at these restaurants balk at a request to hold the meat on something. So I hardly expected this attitude in Edmonton.

We went to the Marc where the gracious service and excellent food saved our evening.

We fine dine frequently at all the usual places (Madison's, Ruth's Chris, Hardware Grill, Red Ox, Culina) and have never encountered ANY issue requesting a modification so the dish is pescotarian.

The worse part was the arrogance--the manager carefully and slowly explaining to us (who are educated, well travelled professionals) about the difference between a real chef and the rest of the chefs in Edmonton.

It was infuriating but we chose to find it amusing and, after my friend uncrumpled and paid the bill for the champagne, we left shaking our heads at the diva attitude, cheaply done room and horrid service.

I'm sure it's fine for a glass of wine and if you are a fan of pre-made food, but there are better wine bars in Edmonton and better service at Dennys.

Fabulous!  The food and wine, the service, and the atmosphere are all excellent...If you haven't been...take the time to go! Although they're the new kid on the block, they're quickly making their way into a popular choice for a lovely evening out!

The reviews for Somerville's all looked pretty good so I thought it was worth checking out..... not so impressed after going.
Wine list for by the glass lacked and the menu is not really tapas.  Not too many of the dishes offered were that good for sharing.
$50 for 2 glasses of wine and some baked cheese that came with 6 crackers?
Don't think I will be going back.  Found better place just down the road on 124th after leaving.
