Review from Madeleine H.
Toronto, ON
I signed up at SLIH last year when they first opened, after my trial was done, I wasn't able to afford the registration fee or devote time in exchange for studio hours. Thankfully, they offered an amazing price at the start of the new year, so I'm registered for a whole year!
The studio is gorgeous! I do a fair amount of classes in the Air room, which is located almost literally behind the front desk, and can be chilly as there seems to be no ventilation and has the biggest windows that span a whole wall. It eventually warms up during the yoga practice, so I suggest you use the blankets that are available when you can.
The instructors I've had have been beyond phenomenal in terms of explaining poses, guiding your body, easing your mind, and making you feel comfortable with your limitations. My favoured classes are good for beginners (such as myself), I've had the pleasure of attending these classes lead by Owen, Chris, Tim, and Ashley. Thanks guys! :) There is such a variety in classes, though I wish there were more beginner classes. They even have several classes for mothers and their children.
I've never showered there as I live very close, but the shower/washroom area is always clean and ready to be used. I wish there was a way to store your valuables, I understand you can leave your things in the car but I don't have a car to vault my belongings in and many times I wish I had my cellphone or watch on me. So far, I've tried making sure I can go home before I go to yoga, so I can unload my phone and wallet, and just take the bare minimum with me so it's not awkward bringing it into the studio spaces.
They have great deals on now until the end of January for registration fees, it's more than worth the price!

Oakville residents are in luck!
Opened just 2 weeks ago, SLiH is situated on the corner of a lively intersection(not far from Stoney's http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) with plenty of parking behind the strip.
I took a TGIF class with Owen, described on the website "as an amazing way to end the week! A gentle Hatha Yoga class with a large restorative component. Often accompanied by the sounds of therapeutic crystal singing bowls." This class is, obviously, done in the heat, and as such it should not be confused with a restorative class. It's definitely beginner level. Owen was engaging, present and helpful, though some Sanskrit terms were translated incorrectly.
The studio is gorgeous and large, with three huge practice rooms, and several individual showers in the change room. I had a bit of an Alice in the Wonderland moment when using the washroom; as my knees were hitting the door. They sell an expansive array of stylish alternative apparel clothes at the front.Listed in: Yoga Fire!
