Damn. Solomon's has gone out of business.
Not too surprising the negative reviews he'd gotten lately -- probably under a lot of stress.

I really enjoyed this spot. It is not your run of the mill place and it seems like it belongs in New York, not Victoria.
I like the older crowd and I like interesting beers. Just when you think that there is nothing new under the sun, you get introduced to a beer called Geuze. Lousy name, but really incredible drink.
I was pretty surprised at the prices at first -- $12 and $14 beers! But I thought it was well worth it in the end. I've never seen the equal of the meat and cheese plate.
Not cheap, but good value. -

Great place to spend an evening drinking. The cocktails are world class. Tim is always full of interesting stories and is a fanatic perfectionist when it comes to the drinks he serves.

After trying twice I have to admit I fear the owner/operator has some kind of mental block which prevents him from being cordial.

This seems like more of a place to get a snack and drinks than have dinner. Service was slow but friendly. The fries were good.
They have an extensive drink menu. Everyone in our party managed to order drinks we did not like. With so many original drinks, it was hard to know what you were ordering. -

Solomon is the son of the owners of Pagliacci's. His new restaurant and wine tasting bar is the talk of the town among local foodies and bar-weary locals looking for a change of scene. I stopped by for a delicious roasted red pepper soup and veggie sandwich the other day. So far I am impressed by the feel of the decor, quality of the food and all the positive buzz from people who have been here. I'm looking forward to coming back to spend an evening tasting wine before I leave town.
