I love this place! Really small and unpretentious, good coffee, even better bagels, and did I mention the chocolate babka? I had to try it after seeing the Seinfeld episode, and it was amazing. If you have a chocolate craving, look no further.

Solly, but i have to say that your cinnamon buns are amazing! definitely some of the best in town! they are about $2.85 each and you can get a side of cream cheese frosting for an extra $1.25.. and if you buy 6, its no HST.. so 6 came to just under $25. prolly not something ur gonna spend the moola on everyday but definitely worth indulging in once in a while ;)
will have to come back for some of the other great goods they offer such as the bagels and some breakfast options. -

Mmmm Solly's goodies, get in mah belleh!
The perfect place to pick up a brekky to go in Vancouver - the bagels are super fresh and flavourful and the other goodies are unbelievable. The Babka might be one of the yummiest things I've ever had, particularly baked fresh Sunday morning. If you've never had one before, it's basically a chocolate/fudgey/amazing cinnammon role style pastry. It's always super fresh, super warm and super decadent! Their cinnamon buns are delicious too, as it the icing (on the side) you can get to go with it. I totally put it on my already-super-rich Babka because apparently my gluttonous nature knows no bounds.
I love all the bagels but the Mishmash (whose name I can never remember until I'm there) has got to be my favourite - soooo much flavour and savourey deliciousness.
Check this place out. A great place to pick up breakfast for a picnic perhaps? I think so.
Sidenote: The Hallah bread looks incredible...Imma need to get my butt back there and try it! -

I must admit that the fresh-out-of-the-oven-cinnamon buns are YUMMMMMMMMY and it's okay to indulge once in a while. As delicious as they are, I can not imagine having one every single day, as I'd be probably be 6 feet wide.

Our first introduction to chocolate babka. It was absolutely incredible and our experience with pastries has never been the same.

Every one of those 4 stars is for bringing back such warm memories of my childhood. Lunch at the grand-folks house.
A spread of smoked salmon and cream cheese, smoked pastrami and bagels or fresh, moist corn rye. A dab of mustard is all you need, (of course this is exactly what the doctor told my Zaida not to eat.)
Flash forward to a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver. Solly's is spilling out with happy patrons drooling over their fresh open faced bagels with cream cheese, capers and Lox. I wait outside, torturously gluten free.
Even the family dog awaits impatiently outside for his bagel treat. It's the weekend, and this is Solly's.
Now look at my photo. You can't resist it. It's an ethnic experience. You will comply. -

Yum! I love the food there. There is always something for everyone's food taste and somewhat healthy options. And kosher too!
They always have such gourmet, special soups of the day, a huge variety of sweet and savoury baked goods and great sandwiches. I am a big fan of the knishes! Also, around Hanakuh time, they have the best potato latkes! The Hallah bread is the best in town. I like taking it home and making french toast with it!
They are usually busy so I take that as a good sign. When I come into Vancouver, this place is always a yummy treat! I now live in Surrey and I wish we had a Solly's on this side of the river! -

Rugoleh!!!! I am eating some right now. Man I love these flaky little wonders. I always get a combo of poppy and chocolate because I just can't decide between the two.
I popped in here with some time to kill before an appointment. I was super stoked because I hadn't been in ages. I used to come to this location nearly every Wednesday when I lived nearby. Wednesday is cheap dozen bagel day, and when I was a student, these things mattered a whole lot. So today I got my usual order for nostalgia, and because it is awesome. 1 dozen bagels to go (lots of herb, a couple cinnamon raisin, couple multigrain, couple poppy seed, and a couple of the bagel of the month, which was cinnamon sugar), an Eggel on herb, and a dozen rugoleh of poppy and chocolate.
The staff are always very pleasant here, and the shop has a nice charm to it. There's water and cups for you to help yourself by the door, too. I miss this neighbourhood, so it was nice to stop by for breakfast this morning.
Thanks, Solly's. I miss you. -

I go to this place as many times as I can justify when I'm back in Vancouver.
Mishmash bagel with dill cream cheese is my staple.
I also love those delicious onion potato knishes and the babka bun is sheer heaven especially when it's warm.
It's a cute place to sit too. Lots of good people watch, and you can sit inside or outside as well.
This place is a must try in Vancouver, best bagel I've ever had. -

I LOVE this place. It's always, without fail, the first place I go when I'm in Vancouver.
Everything here is delicious. I always get the schmear, but I'm sure the sandwiches are probably good too. Knishes, rugoleh, and babka buns are all amazing.
Personal favourite: mish mash bagel with dill cream cheese. HEAVEN! I rave about this place to all my friends back home.Listed in: Main Street Mainstays, Vancouver Five Stars

I have never in my life had a bagel as great as the one I had last Monday.
So seasame-y and loaded with cream cheese.
The lack of nutritional information has left me blissfully unaware of the calorie content. Calories caution aside the bagels are definitely a go. -

Truly a bagel shop for people in the neighborhood.
I stopped here for a latte and to read a book. Everybody in the shop was dressed casually and were going in to purchase bags of bagels and coffees for the family. Pretty cool. No sexy workout clothes, no loud cell phone conversations, etc. The staff was really nice.
Don't half step. This is really the only legit place to grab a local coffee in Riley Park on Main St in that area. -

Great bagels! Honestly they are great on their own - schmearless. I've had 2 similar experiences like AlisaB where the veggies in the bagel sandwiches were not fresh....and this does ruin a sandwich. I haven't bought one since.
After discovering babka, I now understood the infamous Seinfeld episode. I too, could resort to mugging someone for their babka. -

Vancouver's best bagels. And Tara's right, the cinnamon buns are addictive. As are the rugelach cookies (esp. the chocolate ones). And don't even get me started on the chocolate babka.
On the savoury side, the various knishes are a great little snack to fuel a Main Street crawl. If I have time to sit down and eat, I go for the Eggel De Lox, their breakfast bagel of egg, cream cheese, spinach, tomato, and, of course, lox. Impossible to eat tidily, but why would you want to? -

Solly's is a fabulous Jewish family bakery definitely worth a visit if you're a fan of baked goods or deli foods.
Delicious bagels come with lashings of your favourite toppings. Try their egg, cheese, and tomato breakfast bagel complete with paprika sprinkles. Mmmmmmmm! You can also choose from cakes, sandwiches, and soups (including matzo ball of course).
Their gooey cinnamon buns look unbelievable but I haven't been game to try them yet - I know if I do I'll be hooked for life. They also offer some more traditional Jewish baked goods such as rugoleh and knish.
There are a few Solly's around Vancouver but I rather like this one as it's small, quaint, and you can sit undisturbed enjoying your boiled treat. -

Totally killer bagels...on Saturday morning it's bustling and a great place to stop for a snack or to pick up fresh goods.
Everything is delicious. -

It's our go-to fresh bagel joint (lots of variety and sandwiches). Once you have tried their bagels, you can't go back to eating other grocery-store bagels. It's always packed whenever we are there.

The bagels are good, yes, but it's really all about the shmear. Many varieties of home-made, fresh whipped-up shmear. Oh so good!
Their sweets are pretty good too, but lets be honest here - I'm coming for the bagels! -

I had the best bagel with homemade cream cheese ever!
You should definitely try this place! -
Review from Alisa B.
So the bagels were great, and I was thrilled to see bobkas, knish's and rugelach but honestly this place could be way better.
The tomatoes on my veggie bagel were obviously left in the refrigerator (which they shouldn't be in AT ALL) too long and were doing that gritty nasty thing tomatoes do when they get too cold. The sprouts were getting old and the cucumber pieces took over the whole flavor. They sadi theire was avocado on there but it was two tiny pieces barely worth even putting on at all. The cream cheese was good though, it was good quality.
I honestly was totally disapointed with the sandwich/bagel and should have just had a bagel with cream cheese or jam.
The bagel was their equivilent to an everything bagel and was chewey and super yummy. They said they toasted it but it was barely warm so not sure if thier toaster oven is working.
The people were nice but I could not for the life of me understand the woman who helped us, her accent was so thick I'm still trying to figure out if she charged us the right amount and I kept having to talk to her through her manager who also seemed to be her interpreter... not to be rude to her, she was very nice I just hate having to consult a forein language dictionary to order my food.
I'll go back just for bagels and to pick up some knish's for the road but other than that it really wasn't worth the hype i've heard about it.
