Just got home from an appt here. Alicia is A-MAZING!!! I've been having electrolysis done on all different areas of my body for the past 15 years... this time on a new area, my sideburns and hairline. Alicia is most definitely one of the best electrologists I've ever been to. She is very consistent, thorough, sweet and her technique is the most painless I've experienced yet. I would recommend her to everyone!! Thanks, Alicia :)

I went to Sophia for a facial and she introduced me to electrolysis. Sophia did an amazing job! I never would have thought of it. She tested it out on me so that I would have an idea of what it felt like it. That was a year ago, and now I do go in to the office much less because of the highly efficetive method. She is great to work with and has excellent customer service skills. It is always a pleasure to see her. The scheduling has always been easy for me. I leave a message stating day, time, and service and then she will confirm if the day I requested is available. Pretty simple. I would definitely recommend her! I also drive and never found parking an issue, fyi.

What happened? One night a demon came and changed my fine, fair, facial fuzz into a random field of coarse and dark spiky sprouts. At first a pluck or two seemed to suffice but after awhile me and my magnifying mirror were enmeshed in a nightly ritual of shame.
To the rescue: Sofia and Alicia, angels of hair removal! These women have been in the skin business for decades and have seen it all. They are highly skilled and caring professionals who completely understand that moving from secret plucking to electrolysis is a process and are there to make it work for you. I can call them in a panic just as I'm about to resort to self mutilation, er, self help, and they fit me in ASAP. Truly a godsend. My skin looks great! Thank you.
(From time to time, I get a scab or a little white head at the site where a needle with an electric charge was just inserted. They don't just wave a magic wand over your face and the hair magically disappears.) -

Thanks to my gene pool, I have pale skin, extremely dark hair, and a whole lotta hormones. Sofia tamed ALL OF IT!
Waxing was quick and efficient.
Facials-don't even get me started. She not only cleared up my skin, (which not many people have succeeded at-actually NO ONE has succeeded at) but also left it feeling like the gluteus of a newborn.
Her sunny disposition also adds to the ambiance, and frankly, if I would want anyone to work on me, it would be her!

I have had a handful of 15 minute electrolysis sessions with Sofia and am already seeing a big difference. Her salon is in an easy-to-find and -to park neighborhood, and it is very clean and pleasant. Her manner is very open and her services were less painful but more effective than I've experienced with others. Will definitely continue to see her!

When my parents expressed their love for one another in the back of a Nova I think Robin Williams may have joined the party because that's the only explanation I have as to why I was born covered in fur.
I tried laser removal once but all it did was leave the test area covered in scabs (that healed eventually) and repeated attempts did nothing to stop or lighten growth.
Electrolysis is the only thing that's worked and Sofia will go wherever 0_o you need her to go. A skoche painful but there's numbing cream you can buy and she does lean a little on the high setting side which means you'll need more time to heal but she'll listen to your request to turn it down if it's too much for you. She's fiesty but cooperative, and is as determined as you are to be stone bald in all the right places.
You'll no longer belong to the Lourdes Leon and Sarah Silverman club thanks to Sofia. -

I needed to find a closer electrolysis, so I did a little research and decided to go to sofia.
I was very happy with the service, although it took almost 3 weeks to completely heal. now i know i have to go there way before my trip.
The power seems to be a bit high, but at least i know the hair won't be growing back.
if you have a trip coming up where you are hanging out by the beach, make an appt at least 3 weeks before the trip, so your skin can heal completely before your trip. -

Thanks to the previous reviewer, I gave Sofia a whirl this week. The salon is on a quiet street and I found free street parking very close by.
Excellent work! I love the fact that Sofia is Greek and therefore knows all the important things about depilation. In 15 minutes she thundered through all the offending areas and now there's little risk I'll be mistaken for Popeye or Desperate Dan on my next date. -

My visit with Sophia was a wonderful experience! She not only queried me with regard to my previous electrolysis experiences, she also explained her modality and it's suitability to my needs.
Sophia is professional, thorough, and very gentle. I experienced little to no discomfort during procedure, and I enjoyed Sophia's warm and friendly personality. I will certainly return in future and I highly recommend Sophia's work.

I've been a regular customer at Sofia's since I moved to San Francisco in 2007 and I can't say enough about what great work they do!!!!
I have had Sofia's associate Aleisha do my treatments and she does wonderful work! I never have to shave my armpits ever again thanks to her :D WooHoo!!
This is the BEST place to go for electrolysis and facials (they have other services as well like waxing but I've only done electrolysis and microdermabrasion facials).
Both Sofia and Aleisha do such great work I would very HIGHLY recommend trying them out- you'll never want to go anywhere else! Oh, and they are EXTREMELY accommodating when booking or rescheduling appointments. Two thumbs way up! -

I only had eyebrow shaping and brow and lash tint done, but they were the best I have ever had. My brows are neater than ever and have a fantastic shape, and she even made them look like I am a natural red head!
It was relaxing, and everything in the shop is clean and lovely, without being super fussy or cutesy.
Only drawback was the price. Ouch! -

I've had electrolysis done in various cities across the U.S. I've never had my skin react so much to a treatment! The heat was unnecessarily high and Sofia didn't even put aloe over the entire area treated. My welts have lasted well over a week! I just hope it doesn't scar.
On a positive note, Sofia and Alicia were both very nice and welcoming, though not very informative. The location is convenient if you are driving. -

This is the first electrolysis salon I've visited - so I have nothing to compare it to. Right off Chattanooga in Noe Valley, it's a quiet shop with 2 attentive employees. The place is very clean and they explain the procedure and relax you before starting. It hurts less than waxing, and the technique was so gentle that I just had a few red dots for a few hours. They seem to know a lot about skin types and care. The cost was $40 for each 15 minute session and I feel I have fully gotten my money's worth. After 2 visits I intend to be a regular customer.

Electrolysis is not fun, and it's painful, but I felt like a princess when I visited Sofia's place. The young woman who performed the PROCEDURE was so nice and explained everything to me patiently. The place is cute and in a quiet little part of Noe Valley. There was no grimyness or anything similar to the shadiness I've met at other Skin Care places. So I give Sofia's two thumbs up for handling a sensitive situation with kindness and care.

these ladies are great. i've never had electrolysis before but i am very happy with my results and can't imagine how they would do a better job.
very thorough and meticulous.
i'll keep going here till all my unwanted hair is gone. and then ill probably try some of their other services because i trust them and their work so much. -

Sofia needs a receptionist! Scheduling an appointment is a pain in the ass game of phone tag. Long story short, this apparently resulted in me being dropped as a client for missing an appointment that I didn't find out about until two hours after it was scheduled to happen. If you read this Sofia, NO, I did NOT receive a message from you earlier in the week. I went ahead and gave two stars instead of one because she does seem adept at the actual electrolysis.

I have gone to too many places to get my eye brows done. But I got to say Sofia and her partner do the best job. Both are very skilled at being very careful not to hurt the skin. I have delicate skin, but they seemed to know what to do. I give them five stars, because for the first time in my life, I was treated well and my eye brows looked great. I did not get acne after the waxing which in other places I normaly do. I also have roseacea and they gave me a facial I was impressed with. It made my skin look stunning. I am happy I found someone who can help me with my skin.

I'm still in la-la land after a facial at Sofia's. As a previous reviewer mentioned, she spent quality time on my dermis, soothing me with essential oils, steam jets, masques, head and neck massages and classical music. She threw in brow-shaping for free! I feel so pampered, I I'm going to take the rest of the day off and read.

It's taken me a long time to write this review because I have not gone to see Sofia for her treatments for about 6 months and wanted to compare her to others in the Bay Area. Best decision I made. I feel that Sofia only cares about the bottom line and not at all what is best for her clients. She overcharges by $20 the LMX 5% Lidocaine cream (buy it on Amazon instead), she doesn't warn at all about the pain of electrolysis, and puts down laser treatment so that she can continue with electrolysis only. I've spent about $800 at her shop before I wizened up and realized that I could have gotten my entire nether regions lasered and be done with versus the little patches that Sofia did per hour. I think her work is good but I felt like a walking wallet with her. The people I've work with after my numerous visits at Sofia's are more concerned about what is best for my body versus what is best for their pocket book. Those are the type of people who will get my love and devotion and cash!

So I've got a hair growth problem and it's not in a place I can hide. After all, turtlenecks just don't work on hot days. On my first visit to Sofia's, I had an appointment with her assistant. She seemed to assume I knew everything I needed to know from researching things on line, so she didn't give me much information or advice. The treatment was a bit uncomfortable but not painful. So far, so good.
For my next appointment, I got Sofia herself. She was rushed since she was filling in - okay. The machine was very hot; I could smell the burning and commented on it. And it hurt! Not a little, a lot. I ended up with large welts on my neck that lasted for more than a week. What a way to take attention away from the hair growth. People worried that I was doing radiation treatments. (I've now gone elsewhere with great results and no welts.)
Also, the walls of the treatment rooms don't go to the ceiling. So if you're not the only person there, you, and they, hear everything. I would not want to do something even more personal in this environment. -

While I appreciated the aesthetic of Sofia and her associate (they gave my eyebrows a beautiful shape), the electrolysis treatments were often no more effective than plucking. She doesn't use the "blend" method (which I've now found to be significantly better), and while I understand that it often requires multiple treatments to permanently remove any hair, there should be noticably progress.

Love Sofia and Alicia. Electrolysis is AWESOME and they are great at it. Haven't had facial yet, but reading the reviews I think I will go get one. The electrolysis totally rocked my world. I have a hormonal disorder that causes a lot of facial hair growth on chin and lips. I thought I was stuck with plucking or waxing forever, both of which are awful. I'm so blond that I can't get laser hair removal and it also makes me a challenging client to work on, but the results have been great and they are totally diligent about their work and sensitive to my needs. I have totally smooth skin. No regrowth. So much more economic than waxing. yay! electrolysis!!!! Thanks Sofia Skin Care.
