Located right in the center of everything on Government Street, Rodgers is your classic "shoppe" for milkshakes, sundaes and frozen treats of all kinds.
Additionally, their plastic milkshake cups say "Biocompostable: This cup is made from corn and is 100% compostable"!!! Amazing!!
Recommendation: Get the malted milkshake, sit at big windows with harbour views and relax away the afternoon people watching!
5 Stars!Listed in: Best of Victoria, BC

With an interior décor of a nostalgic diner, the Soda Shoppe can almost take you back in time - even more so if you order a black cow (the classic root beer float).
Situated on the corner of one of the busier intersections in Victoria, this little establishment is a go-to favourite for ice cream, pastry, hot or cold drinks, and a gorgeous view of the famous Victoria Parliament Building.
The convenience of this place makes it ideal for tourists. During my visit to Victoria over the weekend, I came here twice to grab drinks. The root beer float will always remain a childhood favourite and the fudge cake makes an excellent pairing with a tea or coffee. Although I drink a lot of coffee, I found their coffee to be too strong for my liking.
Staff here are very friendly, helpful and the prices are reasonable. I will certainly return for a drink or snack again if I'm ever in town. -

I had a grilled cheese sandwich and root beer float here this past weekend. Good, not blown away, but good. I'd be interested to return and try some of their other soda flavors; they looked interesting.
I got a trainee ringing me up and making my order, which went ok except the trainer was obvisouly annoyed and I never received my ice water.
I sat in the window and watched the water and pedestrians. Nice little corner shop! -

Wow - I was so thrilled to rediscover ice cream and all of its deliciousness here! It was so delightful that we had to make 2 trips during our long weekend visit to Victoria. I tried the hot fudge sundae and the chocolate malt with whipped cream. Both were heavenly. There are 2 sides to the shoppe and separate entrances for each, which is a bit confusing at first. One has the traditional soda counter and the other has the numerous flavors of ice cream. They do actually connect inside.
Each time we went the service was very good and reasonably prompt, in spite of the shoppe being busy with fellow tourists. And the location was oh-so-convenient, right across the street from the Empress Hotel where we were staying.
Lastly, I have to give these guys (and really the city of Victoria) bonus points for being eco-friendly. What appeared to be plastic cups were actually biodegradable - super impressive!Listed in: Victoria, BC Enjoyment

Split a caramel sundae with my lovely wife - it was decent. Nothing mind-blowing but it was a good end to a fun stop on our cruise.

The smell of waffle cones fills your senses the moment you come through the doors, which do not open automatically. There are two sides to the ice cream shop, one for special creations, like banana splits and ice cream soda and the other is for old fashioned scoops of ice cream and lots of candy. To get around wasn't that bad, there was a pretty wide walkway but really no accessible seating. I bet the bathroom is pretty accessible but I didn't get the chance to look... The ice cream was really good though, I got maple walnut but the tiger stripped one was also very unusual but good. I was told that it's a local favorite.

WASTE OF MONEY AND CALORIES... seriously guys. Do yourself a favor and ignore the convenient location right on the corner of Government and keep on a-walkin'. Not only did the employee barely speak a word of English- she literally did not know how to make a sundae. (I had to ask if it came with whipped cream or a cherry... *cricket* *cricket* uhhh, yeah.) Its not rocket science and one would think sundae building know how would be kind of an occupational must-have for working in an ice cream "shoppe"... or even just a regular 'ol ice cream shop. Then halfway through this experience I asked my husband if I was crazy or did all the ice cream not taste like the flavor it was (allegedly). He confirmed: Cookies & cream... tasted like vanilla. Pecan praline... tasted like vanilla. Cookie dough... tasted like vanilla. You get the point. I was mad we wasted our money. So do yourself a favor skip this place. Dont let the fancy double P's and a E fool you... this joint B-L-O-W-S.

We went here twice during our weekend in Victoria, once for fizzies and once for a Victoria cream and a float. The chocolate and root beer fizzies were both pleasant, sweet and lightly effervescent, and the float was very good. My only issue was with the chocolate; the flavouring in my fizzy tasted artificial, and there was a cloying quality to the Victoria cream that was slightly fake and unpleasant. I've had better chocolate elsewhere, but the old-fashioned soda experience here is quite nice indeed.

Are you effing kidding me? Like an old school ice cream/soda shop. I had the Chocolate Hazelnut on a cone and I want to return only 24 hours later to have another. My boyfriend got a hot fudge sunday, so good to us. Seemed like everyone walking through Victoria was eating ice cream--so you have to join in. The cones are awesome and made in such a way that they don't drip from the bottom. I'm surprised Canada is not known for their engineering of the cone.
