Their Peking Duck is excellent.  The Peking Duck is $40 (taxes in) and consists of a three course meal:  1) soup made with the duck bones; 2) crispy duck skin and meat served with "pancakes", scallions and hoisen sauce; and 3) mixed vegetables and duck meat.  Every course was top notch and tasty.

Because of the preparation method, the Peking Duck has to be ordered two days in advance.  The day of pick-up the restaurant called us to double check the pick-up time so that the food would be hot.  That's excellent customer service.

We've eaten at So Good before and have had very good experiences.  This recent experience elevates So Good to one of my "go to" spots, especially for take-out.  Highly recommend.

Tasty, but expensive for hole in the wall Chinese food located in the Chinatown section of Ottawa.

We spent $45.00 including tip, for an two entrees of chicken, with peanut sauce and spicy, a big bowl of steamed rice, a Chinese beer and a diet Coke.

Peter, the owner, is an affable Asian who has been in business for 16 years.

I would give them another chance, but bring plenty of cash!

I'll jump on the boat and say you must try the salt and pepper tofu, however I find it tastes better when you eat IN. The tofu can get soggy if you wait by the time you pick it up.

Anyhow I am absolutely in love with this place, and recommend it to anyone who wants Chinese food.

Although they have vegetarian dishes, this is an omnivore restaurant with a full range of Chinese dishes.  The service is very prompt and recommendations are quickly made.  The decor is 50 year old tables and chairs with flowery plastic tablecloths and the most eclectic array of stuff on horizontal surfaces, including several toy dinosaurs!  Peter So, the manager, presides over everything with energy and efficiency.  The place was packed.

Now to the food.  I was disappointed in the salt and pepper tofu after the many recommendations on Yelp.  Even eating in, it became soggy and oily very quickly.  I find that many Chinese dishes tend to be too greasy and all of the ones we happened to order fell into that category.  Flavourful, yes, but they send you off looking for your antacids.

I think there are many other better Chinese restaurants in Ottawa.

Wow, some of the best Chinese I have ever had!

The thing I love about this place is that they have a huge omnivore menu, and then a HUGE vegetarian menu. So there are a LOT of choices if you don't eat meat. Here is what we had:

    salt and pepper tofu
    eggplant with spicy garlic sauce
    veg shanghai noodles

The noodles were so-so, but the eggplant and tofu were to die for! The eggplant was pretty greasy, and a lot of things on the menu are fried, so if you are trying to eat low-cal this might not be the place for you.

I took one star off because the actual restaurant is pretty small and kind of dingy, so if you are going to stay to eat at a busy time you will probably want to make a reservation.

Wow!  This was the best Chinese food experience I have had in a long time.  We had a vegetarian meal consisting of the spring rolls, fried rice (not greasy at all), the salt & pepper tofu (fantastic, as described in other reviews) and the Wu Se  vegetables in peanut sauce (also outstanding).  The portion sizes were large, and the service was fast.  I would highly recommend this restaurant for a casual Chinese food outing!

Great Chinese food!! Can be hard to get a seat during lunch but worth the wait. Owner Peter So is always there and ready to strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. Can't recommend enough.

One of Ottawa's best Asian restaurants.
Amazing food - variety and quality.
Tiny restaurant, always filled, elbow to elbow.
10x better when Peter is there to take your order and make recommendations.

This is my absolute favorite Chinese Food restaurant. Owned by the friendly Peter So and family, this restaurant has the whole package: friendly service, a HUGE menu to choose, and the food comes fast and furious - with their reasonable prices, you can load up your table in no time. Definitely make a reservation - I've never seen this place not busy. And don't be fooled by its 'cover', what this place lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in AMAZING, FRESH FOOD.  Also in Chinese new year bamboo posters. ;)

So good restaurant is actually so bad. For the similar price range, the Yangtze (http://yangtze.ca/) restaurant, which is right across the street, was so good.
