Anisa was amazing - professional and willing to help us find a happy medium between our needs and price range. The beds were a dream to try out and she even threw in two pillows and a mattress protector. We are proud owners of a Serta Celestial!

In a few words: terrible support and unprofessional.

I got a bed here because it was a local business and had a 30 day exchange policy.  My bed also came with a '10 year warranty'.  Was going to buy from Ikea which had (has?) a 90 day trial policy.

The salesperson was ok but a bit pushy and 'salesperson like' trying to get a sale.  I figured that this is where I spent a third of my life so went for something fairly expensive, even at their 'discounted' rate.

First problem - I ordered a mattress and topper.  The mattress didn't seem quite right right away.  I phoned the store they said to wait for the topper (because for some reason they came separately).  It took over 2 weeks to received the topper.  I tried them in combination and again didn't seem right, I seemed to sag into the bed from the edges.  I phoned the store again, they said to try switching the ends.  Again I tried and it wasn't quite right.  I phoned the store and they said this was normal and took some time to wear in.  I wanted to return/exchange the bed but I found out at that time that they would charge me 2 more expensive return and delivery of new bed fees if I did so.  Also, their 30 day trial period was a total trial period, so now I had used up over 20 days of it  (mostly due to waiting for the topper).  I would then have to wait for delivery back/inspection and new delivery and maybe have 3 days to try out a new bed (plus a few hundred in fees).  The salesperson said if there were problems I did have the warranty and 'they would have it replaced'.  So I was discouraged to try another bed.

I gave the bed another month or so, figured maybe I wasn't used to.  It definitely wasn't right and my girlfriend agreed.  Called back to the store again.  They wanted nothing to do with me and said they would give me the manufacturers information.  Manufacturer (farther away) said they would charge an even larger delivery fee, and if there was so much as as spot on it or wear would charge a cleaning fee.  It was of course clean but I would have liked to know that and perhaps even keep it in it's original plastic to prevent this during the trial period.

They then told me the terms of the warranty.  I needed to show, without me on it, a 1.5 inch sag in the mattress.  This is a very significant sag to show, and also it was much worse with me actually in the bed.  At this point my only options were to keep using the mattress until I could show a 1.5 inch sag, and then pay to have to take it back and returned by the manufacturer.  I had already thrown away close to $2000 on this 'warrantied' mattress.

So just a warning to others - beware of their policies.  They are not customer service oriented and just looking to make the sale.  I can't say whether they purposely delivered the topper to reduce my trial time but it seemed like it.  Save yourself money and hassle and look elsewhere.  Look at their filtered reviews on Yelp, they have obviously tried to game the system by signing up and filling out fake 5 star reviews.

Well let me start this by saying I hate to shop for big ticket retail items.. I spent many a year of my youth as a retail salesperson and I just hate the spiel. There don't seem to be anybody out there who knows how to sell... just talk & tell,

That aside my wife and I finally decided to get a new bed. Through recommendations and a few trials in hotels we decided the tempurpedic or plasma beds were the way we were going to go.

Good advice from friends... wait for a sale because this stuff is pricey (for a foam mattress $3500 REALLY?)

So we started out at sleep country north van and decided that we would get  a cheap (er) no name foam demo $900. I decided to call a friend who used to work there to see if we could get a better deal for the brand name...no answer.

So we go to the plasma store, North Van they are always advertising BIG SALE (yeah!). We get there and they have marked everything down 50%, well not really.. they use a very old retail trick called long tagging... or marking up to mark down, I think it might be illegal but it just puts a bad taste in one's mouth off the get go...who believes that the bed really sells for $8,000 but because they like you you can have it for $4000? Everyday.

Well  then salesman starts telling us how we need this bed, and how All the rich and famous people in Vancouver buy these mattresses by the container full (ya plasma bed from Jimmy Pattison for Christmas LOL ), It got really sad at the end when he told me I looked like a movie actor (get that all the time,Rodney Dangerfield but really who says that to someone) Then when he found out what line of work I was in he suggested I leave him a "stack of cards" so he could send some business my way (Really? I am a REALTOR and you can't swing a dead cat in this town without hitting one. Who is going to take a referral from the bed guy and how did I get to be the bed guy's new best friend?)

Anyway we got out of there and Googled plasma and found the other dealer in town.... same product same prices... next

finally Sleep Shop West Broadway and Oak where we met Ivy, now Ivy was not a "salesperson" but she made a sale, She pointed us to her wide array of tempurpedic beds and wanted nothing more than to get us the right pillow, and tell us of the "sale" 20% off + free Tempurpedic pillow ($199 value)

To make a long story short we took their new demo bed, 2 pillows, drool catchers for substantially less than the Sleep country price.

Check em out... now i'm off to try our new bed ;)

We just bought a Tempur-Pedic Cloud here. I can hardly wait to get to bed, once I'm done this review!

Our sales person was great (thanks, Ivy), providing the most friendly, personable, and non-pushy sales experience we'd had all afternoon looking for a new bed. [Shout out to Dave at the Sleep Country on Marine in North Van, too, as he was a close second to Ivy for his great service. We just found a better deal at Sleep Shop.]

Price-wise, from our shopping around, this was the best place to buy one of these beds. They had a sale on (20% off) and threw in a free Cloud pillow ($199 value) and a great discount on another pillow and the mattress and pillow case covers.

If you're looking for a new bed, go and see Ivy at Sleep Shop!

They gave me a coffee machine (200$ value) for free with my purchase but it needed special coffee containers that Were discontinued before they even gave it to me (Which they forgot to deliver).. So i never got to use it. The mattress I got is really nice to sleep on but the bed frame and dresser are poor quality.. It's not solid wood and some parts are very thin like ikea .. I had to exchange the dresser because of discoloration and scratches.. When the new one came there were the same problems so a worker came to repolish it.. anyway, no returns because I chose the colour. I bought this a year ago and have now taken the bed frame and dresser apart to find that screws were put in incorrectly as well. I thought I got a good deal when I bought all 3 items but I was mistaken .. Anyway, stick to buying mattresses here and shop around before u buy furniture here as well! My items look very nice to the naked eye but the craftsmanship is not worth what I paid.

When I was out shopping for my new bed, I did quite a bit of comparison, and found that Sleep Shop had the most reasonable prices of all the nearby stores (there are a few other mattress stores right near the Sleep Shop on Broadway).  Moreover, the service here was very friendly and helpful, and when I bought the mattress and frame here (a lovely wooden frame I must say), they threw in a good quality cotton mattress cover, and delivery and assembly of the bed frame was free.  And the bed is a delight to fall into each night!
