Review from Steve L.
San Diego, CA
People have been raving abut this place, and after my first time, I can definitely see why. The wait time was about 20 minutes, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My friends and I ended up going on Tuesday for their trivia night. The environment felt lively and upbeat.
You could either create your burger or order one off their preset menu. Their list of available options for creating your own burger was definitely the largest I've seen. There were so many different things that I honestly couldn't decide, so I ordered the fire burger off their preset menu. I substituted swiss cheese for pepperjack, and ordered the patty medium. Everything about the burger was better than I had expected. The patty itself was packed with flavor, with the right amount of spiciness. Every bite was mouth watering, and The only thing that probably could have made the burger better would be the addition of jalapenos would have been better than the green peppers.
My friends and I also order the fried Mac N' Cheese balls that came with a tapatio ranch dip, and their sweet potato fries that came with a pumpkin dip. The Mac N' Cheese balls were crispy on the outside, but moist and cheesy on the inside. The sweet potato fries were also delicious, especially with the pairing of the pumpkin dip. The pumpkin dip was just superb; it was so flavorful and not to spicy or sweet.
Slater's 50/50 is one of the places I'd be sure to come back to! -
Review from Dan F.
Went here with very high expectations and normal that is a death blow. But I'm excited to say that this place exceeded my expectations!
Little hard to find,it's in the back corner of a some what newer mall. Went on a sat night to hopefully watch the Lakers lose!
Big line in front, but we were headed to the bar. As you first walk in there is an out door patio with a small bar in the corner . Once inside opens to a larger dining area and the part that blow my mind was the back bar ,massive!
The bar takes up the whole back of the restaurant. TVs all around, and there is at least 40 beers on tap.Great selection of beers. From IPA, stouts ales, seasonal, etc.
They do have a happy hour from 3 -7 Monday thru Friday and every day 10pm to 2am. The happy hour 1/2 off apps , $2.50 domestics , 1/2 off happy hour beers, good happy hour!
They have 10 burger on there menu that are called designed burger. Strangely enough only two of there burger have the 50/50 patty of half beef and half bacon?
The best way to go here is the design it menu. You can select or build your own burger and you even get to name it , hilarious .Picked 50/50, 1/3 patty(pussed out next time I will get the 2/3 patty still regretting it!),bacon infused ketchup , slice of cheddar, pickles , grilled onion , tomato ,and roasted red peppers! Think it comes out to be almost ten bucks?
Started with some apps got the panko fried mac and cheese and side of fries which comes with bacon ketchup. Had a few beers here and the beer menu is staggering so many choices! Beers were very good can't really remember what I got ?If your not sure about what beers to get they will give you a small tatser before you order to make sure you like it.
Apps came out, I have had fried mac before and it was always just OK. When I bit into these I knew these were on a different level, crisp out side cheesy liquid inside, great blend of cheese inside and comes with side of dipping sauce, tapatio ranch. The fries were good thin fries and the bacon ketchup was great, had chucks on bacon inside the ketchup.
Burger came out .They call it out by the name you gave it, HA. Burger stacked high with all my toppings. Saw the guy next to me got the 2/3 size , man that thing was huge, next time! First bite bacon goodness in my mouth, can't believe why this hasn't been done before, bacon in the meat and not on top pure genius. The bacon melts into the whole patty basically making it taste like a giant juicy piece of bacon! Gourmet burger with high quality ingredient and fully customizable, well done!
After drinking a couple of beers hit the bathroom and even the bathroom smelled of freshly cooked bacon, seemed to be seeping through the open window , come on really ! This place is like a bacon amusement park! Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii all the way home!

This place is SO GREAT! Super fun way to order burgers, and very easy to customize. My husband and I started with the vampire dip, which is basically this extremely garlic-y, cheesy dip served with toasted bread and chip/cracker things. It did taste good, but I didn't have that much (my husband loooves it, though) and they give you a HUGE serving that is probably large enough for six people. You've been warned.
You must get the 50/50 burger the first time you go, with the ground bacon and beef. It's really quite an experience! The texture is a bit odd at first, but you really can't beat the flavor and I basically just devoured the whole thing. So good. I don't remember how my fries were, so I'm assuming that they were pretty good.
I felt that the pricing was quite reasonable for my food, and the service was excellent. I appreciate that the server took the time to read back our orders to us to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. I'll be back soon :) -

Just so you know....my husband and I received the first Slater's 50/50 black card!!! Insert rooster crow here!
Jamie bestowed this gift upon us a few weeks back and we were so thrilled. Anyone who knows us is never, NEVER shocked when we end up here. We send everyone we know here and try to bring as much business as possible through their doors.
Everyone already knows they make the best burgers in San Diego.
Everyone knows that Mark keeps the most solid line up of taps any beer crazed person could ever fantasize about. (namely my husband)
Let me tell you this place is run like every business should be run. They sincerely care about their clientele and provide top notch service. Manager on duty always walks the floor introducing themselves to each table. Staff is constantly on the move to clean, clear and run plates.
I would love to see their business model and pick their brain on how they instill their customer service values to the staff. Because it works!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Holy cholesterol, Batman!
With not a calorie in sight across their entire menu (ahem), Slater's 50/50 delivers some of the most creative and truly gluttonous burger options this side of anywhere. The Boy and I went in for lunch on a Wednesday and the place was poppin'. I'm on a vegetarian kick at the moment, so I ordered the Eat Your Veggies burger, a vegan patty (Dr. Praeter's, I believe) topped with avocado, asparagus, and cucumber on a honey-wheat bun. It was delicious! The Boy ordered the Thanksgiving burger, a turkey patty topped with sage mayonnaise, whole-berry cranberry sauce, mash, and gravy. It was so rich and so divine, it made me feel like Christmas was indeed just around the corner.
Slater's service is great. The hostesses were super-friendly, our server (Haley) was very attentive, and management could be seen wandering through, making sure everything was running smoothly.
We both had to work later, so we skipped out on trying one of the 111 beers--that's not a typo, they have one hundred-eleven beers ON TAP--but I'm sure we'll be back soon to partake! -

So I've been here at least 5 times now and I do like their food consistency. Whether we sit at the bar or dine at a table, we get pretty good service. The prices for their hamburgers are not bad at all since they are HUGE. It's a super long wait for a table and the food on the weekends so I suggest they hire more people or get organized since it is a big facility.
I like to build my own burger most of the time. The PB & jellousy isn't that great. Not sure what the hype is about since it was really dry to me. I love the milkshakes, they are yummy. I usually get one flavor and I asked the server which one was his favorite and he damn near hustled me into getting 4 flavors so I had like an $8 milkshake!! That was my least favorite, not because it was !!$8!! but because it was overwhelming. Simple is always better I say!
Their veggie burger is AMAZING for all vegetarians out there. Although, the first bite had a long hair in mine that I had complained to our server and the manager greeted us and handed me a free meal card for our next visit. I thought it would have been nice to comp my current burger. Oh well. -

If I felt like having just a burger and beer, Slater's would be my first choice. I'm not much of a burger fan, but the fact they let you customize a burger to your heart's content is very nice. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday and there was a 30 minute wait. Getting seated, we got assisted by three different servers and it seemed as though there wasn't much coordination in terms of what server had what table. Regardless, there was a fair drink selection and one of the servers let us know it was happy hour and appetizers were 50% off. We chose the sweet potato fries with pumpkin sauce and it was absolutely delicious.
I really enjoyed the ordering process. The checklist was nicely organized and it was fun how they even let you name the burger. My boyfriend and I were ridiculously stuff and I even took the rest of my burger home. Something about not being able to stop shoveling sweet potato fries in my mouth made it hard to finish my burger and beer... My boyfriend really enjoyed his pretty standard 50/50 burger and I was happy with my concoction (chicken, cranberry sauce, pineapple, goat cheese, tomatoes, and avocado mash). They even include a pickle slice on the side, but the 1/3 lb burger completely dwarfed it and it didn't grab my attention until I was putting my burger in the to-go box. Overall, a pretty good experience.
I give it four stars for two reasons. First, the smoking waiting section was next to a lot of seating and it was really obnoxious to have plumes of smoke hit our face. Any way you could move the smoking section AWAY from the seating? Second, given that three different servers consecutively came by and asked us what we wanted to drink, we had barely any chance to look over drinks and create our burgers without feeling a little rushed. Granted it was busy and everyone had things to do, but the moment the burgers had come out and were making it to our mouths, we were interrupted again. I'm all for providing commentary on how everything is, but let us try it out first! -

Damn.
And here I thought Hodad's was untouchable. Apparently both spots know the secret to success is no secret..... BACON.
NEGATIVE:
-I live in Nashville
POSITIVE:
+Design a burger. Got no one to blame, but yourself.
+Beer list. Motherfuckers even have Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. Been waiting for those bastards to distribute that shit to SD forever.
+Bacon. Nuff said.
++Gravy as a topping. Guess there wasn't "nuff said"
+++Deep Fried mac n cheese balls. You can put these balls in my mouth anytime.
++++Able to handle large parties with ease
+++++Able to handle large parties of drunks with ease
BOTTOM LINE:
Sorry Hodad's. You make a mean burger, but with this place around, I'm not standing in line in the hot sun surrounded by bums anymore.... at least not until I get a craving for a mojito cookie from Azucar. -

I've been a couple of times now and I have yet to be disappointed. The feed is amazing, but if you're counting calories, fat intake or anything along those lines, Slater's might now be the place for you. If you want a great hamburger and a great choice of beer, this is definitely the place. With over 100 taps, Slater's 50/50 is one of the best beer bars/restaurants in San Diego, and that's saying something.
I have to give kudos to our server tonight--Chelsea--who was very attentive, even as she got busier as the not went on. I can be seated her Chelsea's section anytime I visit.
They do have free wifi but it's been hit or miss lately. My phone picks it up, but it doesn't connect to anything after that. That's a bummer and the only negative I can find about Slater's.
Keep up the great work, Slater's crew!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Where do I begin? I've been wanting to try Slater's since I began yelping. I had the location in Anaheim book marked for three years, but never made it down. When I found out they opened one in Point Loma six months ago, I was ecstatic.
My second day in San Diego, nothing was on my agenda except trying Slayer's. So rather than wait for dinner, I decided to take the family for lunch.
Arriving, we were seated right away. Drink orders were taken and we were handed "do it yourself" menu's.
When our orders arrived, I can't tell you how huge and good the burgers were. I so wish someone would come up with smell a vision.
I'll end with this. I was so impressed with the quality of food, service, restrooms, beer selections, location, cleanliness and the fact they have two happy hours each day and are open until 2:00 am , I returned later that night and every other night to catch up on sports, try a new beer and grab a bit to eat.

Tried this place out after seeing it on the Food Network's Triple D. Had the 50/50 burger (1/2 beef, 1/2 bacon) and it's just like The Counter where you customize your burger. Why I like Slater's 50/50 over The Counter is because of the Vampire dip. It's served with pita chips and I swear it's like CRACK. You can't stop eating it with all it's cheesy, garlicy goodness. The Guinness mint chocolate shake was bomb too. My bf likes this place also because they have a variety of beer on tap. It can get pretty loud so it's not the most romantic spot but the grub is worth it.

So on Saturday the family all got together to watch the Mayweather "look at me I'm still here fight" and slaters came up. I had heard of it and been meaning to try it, but when my bro in law kept talking about how much he liked it I knew I had to go.
Being that it was my first time there I went for the staple 50/50 and it did not disappoint! Half bacon and hamburger meat patty, pepper jack, avocado mash, chipotle mayo, and a fried egg in a soft brioche bun. It was real good!
My wife and I also tried the combo app, which is a great idea BTW, and we had fried artichoke, fried mac and cheese, and sweet potato fries. All were great, but the Mac and cheese balls were by far the best!
Worthy notes include: bacon infused ketchup = addicting , sweet potato dip "holy s@#t that's good, food was served fast and hot , my brother in law got a free beer and baseball on every TV
Downsides: rock church is close by so Sunday gets a little crazy, small place fills up fast, and the 50/50 fried egg was medium cooked when I was hoping for an over easy with all that gooey egg yolk to top the burger.Listed in: Best Burger in SD

Highlights: The burgers are so effn good and they have a vast beer selection. You know the sound of heaven they play in movies when something amazing is being witnessed? Well that happened to me. Angels sung and unicorns existed in that moment when I approached the bar. I have never seen so many beers on tap before!
I ordered the Thanksgiving burger and it was a little holiday party in my mouth. I never would've thought that cranberries in my burger would be so good! We also ordered the sweet potato fries (insert nostalgic sigh). I mean, who is the genius that's in charge of the menu over there?? They've also got PB&J burgers, which I have yet to try. I think the owner is a serious lover of food, because he/she has some of the most creative burger combo's.
Slater's 50/50 is so good, you will not be disappointed. Go hungry! Watch out for the slick floors on the way to the bathroom! -

Burgers here are pretty damn good. The only thing though is the location. They are near the airport so, if you are sitting outside in the patio area, you get a good ear-full of plane noise.
The lunch time crowd is not too bad, but I did come here once on a weekend and the wait was ridiculous and they told us it was because the kitchen was running slow. I also heard similar complaints from friends that have been here on peak hours. -

The wife and I had heard nothing but great things about this place, so we packed up the kid and drove to Liberty Station. We had to wait 30 minutes, for a Friday night I was expecting longer so I had no problem waiting. We sat down and our waitress Chelsea asked us if we had ever been there before. We hadn't so she took a few minutes to tell us all about what they had to offer, I know this is the norm but she was extremely polite. She didn't just come to refill our drinks, she came back often and talked to us like we had been regular customers for a long time. The food was good, we shared some fries and onion rings and my wife loved their bbq style sauce. My burger was enormous, juicy, and original, I had the bacon/beef patty. People may say this is the best burger in San Diego, I don't quite agree with that. I will say that I had a good burger served by one of the best waitresses I have ever had, since customer service is extremely important they get five stars. Thank you Slater 50/50 for a delicious burger, than you Chelsea for a great experience.

The 50-50 is great...but the star was a burger of the month made with Chorizo. Yum.
Tried some apps. Did not care for the Vampire Dip...it was a bit much. Same with the fried artichoke hearts and panko fried mac-n-cheese. Mainly all of them were too much for two people..so not knocking Slater's for my gluttony :)
Wonderful beer selection. Great porters and IPAs.
Still have to try the Nutella shake.
Service was very quick and very good. Place was hopping. Parking was easy. -
Review from Don T.
San Diego, CA
Quite honestly, the best burger I have ever had.
I could probably end the review there, but I'll elaborate:
THE BACON IS GROUND UP WITH THE BEEF! WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?
That also sounds like a pretty good place to stop, but I'll seriously elaborate this time:
Their 50/50 Burger is quite possibly everything you could ever want in a burger (with the exception of extra bacon on top). The flavor of the 50/50 patty just makes you want more as you bite through it. The burger literally drips with flavor. Fun Tip: Dip your french fries in whatever your burger drips.
Make sure you try their burgers of the month. They get a little creative and try to theme it with a holiday in that particular month. March's Corned Beef & Guinness Burger was surprisingly tasty and April's Garlic Burger was full of garlic-y goodness!
Their happy hour special on appetizers (half off) is a steal. The fries with their bacon infused ketchup are superb and the sweet potato fries with their pumpkin spice sauce are just as good. Vampire dip, while not on the happy hour special, is incredible for sharing with others.
Despite what other people have said about the service, I've received nothing but the best service ever. Jill, who was my waitress several times in a row, is an incredible waitress. At one point I had been going with my friends so often (probably once every week or two) that she had recognized us and knew what me and my friends wanted to order.
They have a very extensive beer selection, so if you beer lovers want to find your favorite beer (I love stone leviathan!) or want to experiment and try other craft brews (Anchor Steam, Alesmith, Green Flash, etc.) this is definitely the place to go.
The environment is pretty awesome. They have TVs every which way showing whatever sport seems to be on at the time. The crowd gets amped with local sports teams and it's a pretty cool place to be if you like sports or if your favorite team is playing.
All in all, I've never had a bad experience here. If it's your first time here, get your self the 50/50 burger and an order of fries and your favorite pint of beer. After a few times, be adventurous and try the burger of the month or design your own burger! -

Been wanting to try this place out for a few years since they featured it on tv. Being an hour away from Anaheim made it a bit difficult to go to. Since they opened a location in San Diego, it was perfect timing for me to FINALLY check it out.
Went tonight, which is a Friday night and I must give you a warning. The hostess told me that it will be a two hour wait. Yeah, you read that right. TWO HOUR WAIT. Fortunately for me, it ended up being an hour wait.
Menu is pretty large. I asked what they were famous for and the waitress said the two most popular burgers are the 50/50 Burger and the Peanut Butter and Jellyousy. The 50/50 Burger was pretty decent. It has half beef, half bacon patty. It's really what they're known for.
Quality of the meat is so-so. I think Hodad's and Rocky's has far superior patties for their burgers.
The Peanut Butter and Jellyousy burger was decent. It really tasted more of a dessert burger, if that makes sense. Would I come back? I'm not sure. Maybe if guests are in town and want to try it out. -

DAMN! I thought I was set on burger joints, but this by far hella blew me away. I've been wanting to try this place for some time because it seemed that everybody and their mothers have already eaten here. So...... I finally went. We came to Slater's on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty packed. Being that we weren't picky as far as seats go, we were seated right away at a table by the bar.
The service no matter how busy the joint was, proved to be excellent. Our server Marissa was very helpful and patient, understanding that it was our first time. Even others servers walking around checked up on us to make sure we were doing okay. The atmosphere was fun and friendly with a lot of things going on (like the beautiful taxidermy animal heads hanging on the wall). They also have a pool table off to the side and huge televisions playing the games scheduled for that day.
Now the food.... oh my f***in' Mylanta. Before I start yelling obscenities (out of joy) and praises, I should probably talk about what we ordered.
I got the burger of the month which was the Chorizo Burger that had beer battered jalapenos, a 1/3 burger patty made with beef and chorizo, cheddar cheese, and a cilantro and lime sour cream. Earl made his own with a 2/3 50/50 patty (which had half beef and half bacon), chipotle mayo, pepper jack cheese, shredded lettuce (damn I'm trying to remember the rest), tomatoes, fried pickles, and pastrami. We shared onion rings and fries with their specialty bacon ketchup as well as their nutella shake.
We enjoyed the food so much that we forgot about the milkshake. So when I asked for it, not only did they apologize but the manager (I'm thinking his name is Eric) was so apologetic that he gave us a complimentary dessert on our next business. In my head, I was like "s***, it was only a milkshake. No biggie." But seeing that they wanted to maintain their great service, I gratefully accepted it.
If you haven't tried it yet, I suggest you go. Maybe today. You'll be glad you did. -
Review from Angela H.
Very extensive menu, both beer and food.
All burgers (designed, specialties, and make your own) come in three sizes as follows:
1/3 pounder: $8.95
2/3 pounder: $10.95
1 pounder: $13.95
There are a gazillion possible combinations if you decide to build your own burger. It was too much of an overwhelming task for a first visit, so the bf and I decided to order off the Burgers Designed menu.
Peanut butter and Jellousy: I couldn't fathom what PB&J, bacon, and a beef patty would even taste like. But call me adventurous- I decided to do something wild that day. Very creamy PB&J. You get the salty, the sweet, and then the salty again. The bacon adds a nice texture to the mix and gives you something to crunch on.
Slater's 50/50: The 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon is overwhelming as is. Topped with a sunny side up egg, avocado, and pepperjack cheese... ingredients overload! My bf was feeling ambitious and went with the 2/3 lb burger. YIKES. It was like having breakfast in burger form. Unless you're prepared for some really heavy food, I don't recommend the 50/50 patty.
Panko Fried Mac n Cheese: Hands down the best mac and cheese I've ever had (and I don't even like macaroni and cheese)! I'd come back every day just for these.
Sweet potato fries: I didn't really care for the fries (they quickly softened and were no longer crisp by the time our burgers arrived), but the pumpkin dipping sauce is amazing (this is coming from a girl who doesn't like pumpkin. Not even during Thanksgiving). In the bf's words, "It's like the holidays in your mouth!"
Rumor has it that they have 110 or 120 beers on tap. I don't know if it's true (and I didn't feel like counting). From wine to beer to cocktails, there's something for everyone here (unless you're under 21. In that case, you should probably try a design-your-own milkshake).
Very loud inside the restaurant and the TVs lined across all the walls don't exactly promote conversation, either. You'll most likely be too caught up in boxing, baseball, basketball, or the news (again, something for everyone!) to be holding a conversation anyway.
Large parking lot and street parking for easy access to the restaurant. I love the location- you can take a stroll to walk off some of those calories. Although the bf and I wandered into Chi Chocolat across the street afterwards, so it didn't really help. -

Slaters has been getting a lot of buzz lately and that was confirmed by the big crowd waiting to be seated on Sunday evening. Fortunately, our party of 8 had reservations, and we were seated within 15-20 minutes of our reservation time.
Based on Yelpers' recommendations, we ordered the Vampire Dip--yuuuuuuuumy! Even the little Yelpers loved it, once they got over the "just try it" admonitions of their parents. The housemade pita chips helped nail this appetizer--suggestion to Slaters: skip the bread bowl and just serve with the chips.
We were all there to experience the 50/50 burger, so that's what we ordered. As one of our party said, you don't go to Jack in the Box and order a salad. I loved the concept of designing your burger, and the choices were varied and numerous. It was fun naming our burgers, and I'm sure that helps the servers deliver them to the right party (although it didn't help them find the right table, but that just added to the general good-natured competition between our table and the other large party next to us). I'm guessing that the burgers were roundish rather than patty-like because of the blend of beef and ground bacon--maybe ground bacon doesn't hold together well? However, even requesting my burger medium-well, I found the burger to be dry, with the char-broiled flavor overwhelming any bacon flavor. Little Yelper #2 didn't like his sliders at all because of the strong char flavor. The rest of the party was unanimous that the burgers were "good" but there were no raves like we had with the Vampire Dip.
Between the two appetizer plates we ordered, we were able to sample onion rings, fried pickles, sweet potato fries and regular fries. I personally thought the rings were tasty but greasy (which is probably why they were tasty) and the regular fries were below average. There are over 100 different beers available--I'm not a beer drinker, but the choices generated some excitement at our table. However, the $24 tag on some maple bacon thingy flavored beer was enough to sober the drinkers up. I just couldn't wrap my head around paying that much for something that was taking the scenic route into the sewer system, but again--I'm not a beer drinker.
Our server, Haley, was great--attentive, good-humored and still friendly and serene despite the busy evening. The servers assisting by delivering orders seemed a bit flustered, but maybe they are the "rookies". Every employee we came across was friendly and helpful, and I appreciated that one of the managers came around to check how we were doing. Although this wasn't a 5-star first experience, I plan to visit Slater's again and give other items on the menu a try. -

This place is amazing!
First of all, how can you go wrong serving a burger that is half ground bacon and half ground beef.
Not only that, you can choose a premade burger or design your own. I always design my own and change it up just a little each time.
My favorite is inspired by their thanksgiving burger. It is a turkey burger with a wheat bun. On it, I put bacon gravy, vampire dip(which is awesome as an appetizer or on a birger) stuffing and asparagus.
they pretty much have anything you could want to put on a burger. Not to mention that they have a pretty good beer selection.Listed in: My Burger favs

Craving the best burger you've ever had in your life? Look no further! Slater's 50/50 gets its' name from their signature 50% bacon 50% ground beef patty - a must try! I've been here 4 times now and have had a different burger each time - and have subsequently gone up 4 pant sizes - but I've loved every minute of it :) The burgers are obviously fantastic but they also have a full bar with something like 100 beers on tap. This place gets crazy busy, there is even a wait sometimes on Mondays and Tuesdays so you know it's popular.
Tips: The burgers don't come with any sides but you really don't need it. If anything try an order of the "Vampire Dip" to share. Can't decide on which burger to order? Have them cut it into halves or even fourths and split among the table. And lastly, if you're not bursting at the seams at the end of your meal get one of their amazing milkshakes.
Oh and if you've never had a peanut-butter topped burger...don't knock it 'til you try it!! :) -

OK OK OK! Now LOTS of people have said over and over again "Everything is better with bacon". Here they take the Artisan Burger to the next level. Wonderful ideas and premises, 50/50 Ground Beef, and Ground Bacon. Chef inspired toppings, artisan breads, inspired sides, and decadent desserts.
Looks like a a great place for a night out. I walked through the place and the beer selection is fantastic! A great place for an evening or a get together after work I am sure! I had lunch here with a co-worker and truly enjoyed the Flamin' Hot burger. I truly drooled over many of the brugers on the menu and want to frequent here in order to try them all, the Vampire dip, the Bacon brownie... I'm gaining weight and my heart is slowing down as I type just thinking about it.
I've got nothing to ding this establishment on. Service and Management is engaged checking on tables offering and recommending. This is waht dining out is supposed to be like!

I'm sad to dish out a bad review for this place cuz the food is good but the service sucks. I went with a party 4 and we all ordered beer, appetizers and burgers. When the beers arrived I noticed everyone's glass was nice & frosty except mine. My beer was warm and awful. I told the guy who delivered it that it was not at a cold enough temperature. He said he would take care of it. Five minutes later our server showed and up asked what was wrong with the beer. I re-explained that beer is served chilled! Her response..."I can get you another one but it will taste the same." I was shocked!! Get some customer service training!
The manager contacted to try to right the situation that being said, they seem to care about the customers experience. -

Okay, this review is based on 2 different occasions.
First visit, this is the 4 star rating! I ordered the Hawaiian burger! AWESOME! Fried medium egg on a half ground beef, half ground bacon, with pineapple...its like breakfast in your mouth! Fantastic!
Second visit, I would give it 2-3 stars! :( My 50/50, make my own burger was so burnt on the outside! If you took the ratio of meat to bun, the patty looked like a almost flat golf ball and a over sized baseball glove. I also asked for a medium egg, my burger got an well cooked fried egg. I know I should have sent it back, but it was girl's lunch date and I didn't have to time to take it back. I know it was definitely wrong, because I ordered the Hawaiian burger to take home to my hubby and he even said the burger was way over cooked! It was definitely not the same burger we first had.
So the dates I went -- for Slater's Management to know and compare the cooks that day! *wink * wink.
First visit, around 1pm on April 16th.
Second visit, around 11:45am on April 29th. -

OK this place was amazing!!!! Went here after doing a 4 mile run/walk across the Coronado Bridge and its a good thing I was hungry!!
For starters, the beer list was insane....wasn't in the mood for a beer at the time but with over 100 beers on tap I know where I'm going for happy hour!
Next....the Apps.....I think they only have like 5, but we tried them ALL!!!! Deep fried mac was great! It was sooo creamy when you bit into it not dry like other places do it, onion rings.....sooooo good! By far the best O-rings I've ever had....the sweet potato fries were ACTUALLY SWEET!! And the even sweeter dipping sauce made them even better....deep fried artichoke hearts....I'm not a fan but the boyfriend was in heaven with those....I think he ate the whole plate (so clearly they did something right with them)
The 50/50 burger patty....AMAZING!!! I did a build your own burger....did you know french fries can be a burger TOPPING not just a side??
FYI burgers DON'T COME WITH FRIES ORDER THEM AS YOU APPS.
Needless to say we stuffed our faces!! And had plenty of leftovers....and didn't even make it to the dessert menu. I don't even want to know the calorie intake of the meal but the flavor was well worth whatever it was!!
Only reason I knock off a star is our server was a bit special. Def not the sharpest tool in the shed, got our order messed up after saying at least 3 time FULL ORDER OF FRIES AND ARTICHOKES we still got the combo app plate, she didn't even take a drink order for my friend dining with us my friend had to get her own drink from the bar. I get the feeling she was hired cuz she was a hot chick working at a burger/beer joint....maybe a table of all men would have gotten better service.
All in all....food is AMAZING leftovers were eaten the same night and I will for sure be returning to this place....only sitting at the bar this time -

I am probably between a 3-4 star on this one after my first visit, but gave them the benefit of the doubt and went 4 stars because of their creativity on the menu and massive beer variety.
The service was not very good, we sat at the bar and the guy who was supposed to be serving us didn't help at all so this other bartender helped us the whole time because he realized the other guy was ignoring us. We always had to ask them for stuff instead of them asking us what we need (menus, drinks, refills, check, etc.)
The burger was good... It doesn't come close to Rocky's in PB, but it is a solid burger and I like that you can choose between 1/3, 2/3, or 1 pounder.
I can see myself going back there and trying something different. It is also in a kool area. -

What can I say that hasn't been said? There's a total of 112 beers on tap (with a lot of local stuff that rotates every few weeks), the burgers are great, and the service is so good that I actually feel rude asking for anything! I could come here every night and walk out happy!
They have a peanut butter and jelly burger with bacon that is *awesome* (seriously). -

Two words: Vampire Dip
Forget the burgers! This stuff was awesome!
Trying to pick a location for lunch a friend asked if I had ever been here. When she heard the answer was no, she said I HAD to try. She was my guru and also said we must have the Vampire Dip. Cheese, garlic, artichokes? How could I say no? One word: amazing! I think I could just order one for myself as a meal and be done with it (although I might keel over from a heart attach). So delish.
Honestly, the burgers were good! But I think the dip will stand out for me :)
The service was fast and friendly. When my friend and I stayed to chat after eating (it wasn't crowded), they even came around and asked for drink refills several times etc. Very nice. -

Tried this place because a friend recommended it to me. I gotta say, love this place. Burgers are juicy, onion rings are fresh and crispy, and the service is THE BEST I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I highly recommend this place for tasty burgers and great service. Also, this is an amazing place for watching sports and has a full bar.

I love my first time at this place. It was a Monday night, NO LINE! Our server was Marissa and she was pretty amazing! She checked up on us regularly. We spilled some water and she was totally nice about it. My bill was wrong by $1.00, she fixed it without hesitation, I'd rather give that dollar to her as tips.
My burger was so tasteful, I designed my own. It was called the "Japanese man" with wasabi mayo, beef, tomato, sundried tomato, lettuce and and beer battered onion (which I didnt get). I did not know I was missing the fried onion in my burger until the end of my meal which showed how fulfilling the burger already is.
I love this place and will return! -

How can you go wrong when you can have bacon in every course?! Start with some mac & cheese with bacon! Then the 50/50 burger... if heaven exists this could be it. Top it with the chipotle mayo. Yum! For dessert, a guinness mint chocolate milk shake. Fabulous! They also have a bacon brownie which I'll be sure to try next time! I've had a lot of burgers in my day and this place is definitely on the top of my list.

Most people don't know shit about beer---I don't either but they have a HUGE selection which you can actually get in a 22 oz glass.
Hint: if you have one of the 10%+ ABV ones in 22 oz, you should not drive after--it's nearly equivalent to drinking an entire bottle of wine which I only recommend you do at home while watching a Ryan Gosling movie by yourself which most people don't know shit about.
Most people don't know shit about burgers, but the ones here are amazing.
Most people don't know shit about appetizers, their 6-pack variety is amazing, from regular fries to sweet potato fries to onion rings to mac/cheese balls, each one is drool worthy.
Most people don't know shit about dipping sauces, the appetizer platter came with ones that I could take shots of and be happy about. -

I know, it sounds kind of weird... but it tastes soooooo good. The service is great too. Our server was such a sweetheart. Plus, they are open late. I really wanted to try their alcohol selection, but I had to drive that night. Next time though, for sure.
I'm still waiting for their donut burger to come out again!!! I haven't had it, but I keep seeing pictures! :O -

When I visited San Diego with my husband recently, he insisted that we *must* go to Slater's before heading back to Ohio. He wasn't kidding - this was, quite possibly, the best burger experience I've ever had in my life.
Appetizers: we went with sweet potato fries and artichoke hearts. Yum. We kept switching off sauces (pumpkin and sage mayo) between the fries and artichoke hearts and determined that it was just -all- good, no matter which way you ate it. I think I exclaimed that the sweet potato fries with pumpkin sauce tasted like dessert.
Main course: My husband did the Design Your Own burger (I couldn't even begin to tell you what all was on it), but I opted to go with their tried-and-true original: the 50/50. I did make a few modifications: I asked for the egg to be fried hard (no runny yolks for me, thanks), and to add corn & black bean salsa. It was utterly delicious, and I ate every bite.
I would not hesitate to recommend Slater's to anyone visiting the area. It was great! :) -

This was an interesting experience, and I am sure this doesn't happen all the time. But wow...
Problem: My friend ordered her burger Medium Rare, and was cooked rare. She sent it back, and it returned well done. So she sent it back again, and it was finally cooked correctly.
I ordered my burger rare, and I got it well done...sigh.
However, the waitress was nice enough to give us a $10 off the next meal.
Okay onto the food!
Burgers are okay, nothing amazing. It also depends of what toppings/sauces you get, so you can't blame them.
The bacon shake is amazing!
Their deep fried appetizers are a bit on the greasy side.
There are so many TV's!!! even in the restroom so you don't miss the game. And I believe they have 100 beers on tap? Amazing!
