Expert skiers with find themselves bored on this mountain after 3/4 of a day, but it is a fun little hill with some good terrain of the North American. The passes are very affordable at $59 and the short drive makes it a perfect 1/2 day ski hill. The hill also offers tubing which is included in the price (most hills charge extra) and stunning views of the Banff townsite and Cascade mountain.
What really impressed me about Norquay is the staff, they are extremely friendly and helpful. -

Mt. Norquay is a mountain and ski resort that lies directly northwest of the Town of Banff. I skied here as a "training" hill before I tried Sunshine and Lake Louise. It's also a wonderfully scenic drive whether I'm skiing or not, especially backwards towards the Town Site.
The mountain was named in 1904 after John Norquay, premier of Manitoba from 1878 to 1887. Norquay climbed the mountain that now bears his name. The first ski runs date as far back as 1926, with the opening of the ski lodge in 1929. Rope tows were installed in 1942 and the mountain was the first in Canada to install a chair lift in 1948. Since 1978, Norquay has partnered with Lake Louise and Sunshine to promote its activities. This created a joined up tri area lift pass system, which includes transport to and from the resort.
Today the Mount Norquay is one of the most important ski resorts supporting alpine ski racing in Canada. There are a total of 28 runs and a vertical of 1650 feet. The ski area has 3 quad chairs, 1 double chair and a magic carpet. The double chair services some pretty hard terrain for those of you who might dismiss this hill as being too "small". And there's also night skiing on certain Wednesdays and Fridays. -

All right, Norquay isn't the greatest. And for a smaller mountain, it's not even as cool as Nakiska. However, the hill does offer the avid boarder a few cool runs on their five chair-lifts. Their only high-speed quad doesn't really do it for me, and I found I was constantly in search of cool, unshredded terrain...of which, I found none.
Norquay is okay. But mainly full of tourists and novice riders. Being in heart of the Rocky Mountains, there are sooooooo many cooler places to go nearby. -

Ick. I have more fun skiing at the tiny resort in Flagstaff AZ than I did here. I only came here because my friend and I were hungover and didn't hear the alarm so we didn't wake up until 11am. It was my last day to ski and I didn't want to spend 2 hours in the shuttle bus to get to Lake Louise, and I don't like Sunshine either, so I thought I'd try this little mountain out.
The only good things about this place is that it's a 10 minute shuttle ride from Banff and that no one was there on a Tuesday so there was never a line to get on the lifts.
The runs are very short and covered in ice. It snowed quite a bit the night before so I was expecting powder but instead I got plenty of bruises from falling on ice. The lifts are terribly slow, except for their high speed quad which still didn't even seem that fast.
If you like to snowboard, I would go to Sunshine instead. That way Lake Louise is left for the skiers :)
