Review from Crystal H.
Vancouver, BC
Usually I wait for a big milestone review to write about a landmark, but my next milestone is a ways away, and, well, I can't contain myself. I'm a girl in love.... with a rock!
That's right! When someone asks me where I'd have my last meal on earth I tell them I'd pick my favourite dishes (probably Vij's lamb popsicles, tuna tataki, a homemade salad and Pourhouse's flourless chocolate cake and climb up to the top, and park my butt atop of Siwash Rock (not that I've ever climbed up here before, nor would I, but I love to pretend I could). The shady tree and what looks like a bit of grass... and I can't help but smile.
For those that don't know about the almost-most-western point along the Seawall, this is it. On my bike, this is where I know I'm stopping for a quick break at sunset, on foot, this is the point where I know I'm almost done and can keep on powering. And when I have guests in town, this is where we go for a walk so they can see one of my favourite views of Vancouver. At low tide you can go out onto the base of it.
It's also where I imagine what Vancouver looked like a century ago... with fishing boats, loggers and barges. But mostly, I think the magic lies in approaching it heading south west along the seawall. It brings a smile to my face every time, no matter if something is troubling me. Ah summer and Siwash - how I love thee! -

A beautiful landmark. About 3km each way from English Bay.
