Got a pretty good haircut here.   The atmosphere of the barbershop is pretty cool, in a great location, with a very cute dog hanging out.     They need a bit more seating for people waiting to get a haircut.    I would go back.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me...

So i bought a groupon for these guys about 6 months ago. i got a pretty good haircut, but the stylist spent the whole time dumping his problems on me like i was some kind of shoulder to cry on. last time i checked, it's supposed to go the other way around.

my girlfriend liked the haircut, and encouraged me to buy another groupon when they went on sale at the beginning of march. against my better judgement, i bought it (of course without reading any fine print). I made an appointment and made sure not to see the same stylist.

i got a great haircut and nice service this time, but when it came time to pay, they didn't honor the full discount of the groupon, but just the amount i paid for it. i didn't want to look like a goof at the shop, so i decided to go ahead and pay. looking back on it, these guys were being jerks. first i get a stylist who whines to me about his problems, then they decide to cheap out on a discount coupon that they sell online.

despite cutting hair pretty well, i won't be returning, and will be encouraging my friends to stay away.

"Relaxation Massage" But, I ask you: How can I relax with all this going on around me?

Ok, In all fairness, the Body Worker who worked on me was OK at what she does, however The surroundings of this "Sir The Modern  Barbershop" does not make me want to go back!

So, as I walk in to this high end Barbershop I am greeted by friendly staff and a warm contemporary atmosphere, then it goes downhill from their.  The lady who worked on me led me into the back closet that they have converted into a massage room with a bed and a sliding door on it and that is it. I was asked to lay down and get myself ready, so I did.

The lady came back about 2 minutes later which was good, however I think just before I came in they started a load of laundry in the adjoining closet which I could hear the entire time of my massage rattling & rolling, not conducive to relaxation.

Also during the whole massage they were playing 90's alternative rock in the room, and normally I do like this style of music , however it is not relaxing.

With the cheap sliding door that they put cutting off the main room from the closet where you get the massage, you can hear ever single word that the other people in the studio say, along with their music also the dog who came and scratched on the door.

If you want a relaxing massage, stay away from this place, if you want a noisy one, this would be the place for you.

As an introduction, I grew up in a hair salon in montreal run by my mom who has been cutting my hair for the majority of my life. I have curly hair that is not simple to trim or style.

Justin at sir is the first barber that I have been happy with since my mom stopped cutting my hair. The guy knows hair and loves his job. Otherwise the place is clean, the rest of the people who run it are friendly and the price is reasonable for the quality cut you will get.

After a long city-wide search for a decent hair salon/ dresser / barber in Vancouver, I think I finally found my utopia here. Trish was really good, efficient, funny and relaxed. The only small drawback was that I discovered a back and neck-full of itchy hair clippings after the event...but nothing to get my knickers in a twist over. The second weekly free trim is a bonus and nice gesture...I'm going back! Nice one guys!

Was able to try Sir Modern Barbershop from a Groupon promo offering $16 for their $40 haircut package and an additional 20% discount on products purchased that day- which I'm always a sucker for trying out products especially when it's the signature scent of Aveda.

After reading reviews here about the place I just kept on delaying using the Groupon for fear of getting a bad haircut or service. Luckily I ended up Justin - a cool dude with cutting skills and a good conversation.

There are quite a number of staff so understand that there will be horror stories as well as great experiences depending on who you are paired with. That's why we need to hear feedback from other people so we can cut to the chase and ask for a person they may recommend.

At this present questionable economic situation of rising prices, a $40 haircut is no joke anymore. You'll end up $50 with tip and hope your hair doesn't grow as fast.

The location is what makes it pricey. The ambience is laid back and the alt/indie music playing in the background is definitely a match to the wood, leather and mirror composition.

How can they survive? Their obvious bulk of clients is from folks working at the financial district.

There are other services that I think I'll just do myself at the comfort of my home. But on days that I feel lazy, it's good to know us men can also pamper ourselves in a modern-day barbershop of all places that is Sir.

I asked for a 1,2,3 fade on the side of my head. I now have patches everywhere and a shitty haircut that I had pay another person to fix. So I lost $60.00 total today.

So simple, follow the lines from my last haircut 2 weeks ago and you should be fine right? No it didn't happen that way.

Men should strictly see a barber which is what i thought i was getting when I talked to them?

UPDATE - Eddie from From Sir Modern Barber reached out to me and offered me a complimentary service. Even though I declined, It was a nice gesture.

Well look at me with the fancy haircut.  The wife got me a haircut as she feared for my ears at the little haircut/copier place I usually get the hair-did at (the stylist may or may not have parkinsons).  But Dylan at SIR did a top-notch job, though granted my hair ain't difficult to do.  Hot towel on the face and decent scalp massage.  Nice little place with a good vibe.  I'll go back.

The place is nice. Location is great.  Concept is nice.  However, stylist I had was horrible.  The water was too hot for the wash.  She didn't wipe my hair dry enough after the wash, and water was dripping all over my face and ear during the cut.  She combed my hair SO hard and so close to the scalp that my head hurts.  Also, I don't know what's wrong with her comb... my head was being PULLED when she combs my hair.  And this is not all... clipper clipped me twice and I thought my hair was going to catch fire when she had the blow dry an inch away from my scalp.  really.. WTF!!!!  I went because my regular stylist was on vacation and I saw the  Groupon deal and decided to try them out .  NEVER AGAIN.  She obviously was quite inexperience.  I didn't have the hearts to tell her on the spot how horrible my experience was.  I have nothing against someone starting out... but this is not an experience anyone should have at a place that charges $40 for a haircut.
