They saved my 5 year old 12" powerbook and my thesis.
They were timely in their servicing and spoke in simple computer language that I could understand...without being patronizing.
In the end I had to replace my hard-drive or hard disk...something that looks like a cd in a thin box. Anyways, I had no clue what I was doing and to clean up my computer, I started this trashing rampage. To my horror, I deleted something essential. My computer screen showed only a question mark...okay, I've blocked that memory out but the guys at the service dept. were obviously in disbelief that I would delete something so important. But they knew how much I had spent there and how I was a poor student, blah blah blah, so they re-installed stuff back on my laptop for FREE!
As much as I love them, I don't ever want to go back.
Minus 1 star b/c a couple of dudes in the front had no clue what my computer needed and sold me memory (to be installed in the service dept) that did not fit. The service guys couldn't believe it either. -

I have mixed feelings about this place. I bought a refurbished Macbook pro at a pretty good price here because my old one's logicboard had died the Friday before the last weekend I had to work on a school project.
First I brought it to the Apple Store. The Apple store, although busy (apparently "Black Friday" happens in Canada too, damn) honored my appointment, listened to my needs, diagnosed the issue for free, and then told me I may be good with a Macbook Air (the cheaper option.)
I needed to think, since I was totally unprepared to buy a whole new computer. I went back to work. Decided, "shit, I need this now." Went to Simply Computing which is closer to see what they had.
I was immediately pushed to the most expensive option and told I would be unsatisfied with less. I asked some questions about less expensive options, but all answers came across as deliberately negative. If there hadn't been a refurbished Macbook at a better price I would have just left right there and gone back to the Apple store for some more thorough answers. The salesgirl was pleasant, but definitely pushy and did not give me very much information on the less expensive Macbook Airs.
I asked if they could recover my data. Considering I was making a pretty large purchase, and I was in a bind I would hope they'd offer something, but apparently they would charge me $100 to transfer my stuff, PLUS an extra $50 just because my Macbook wouldn't turn on. Instead I opted for a hard drive case, some You Tube searches, and a tech friend, and it turned out a pretty simple job despite never having done it before, and things transferred as we played board games. $150 they'd charge for that? AFTER spending over $1000? Psh. -

Wound Up their because Future Shop did not have what I was looking for. Simply had the item I was after. So that was A OK. My Concern about this place is that they had a Check In offer they would not honour. When I asked the Manager about the Check in Offer he told we used to do it but we don't do it anymore.

Bought a Mac from these guys, and they made false promises & wont live up to their tall tales of deception...
They promised refunds on un-used products and then they do not deliver, they act confused and pretend not to know right down to the management..
We tried to working with them on four different attempts spent hours of WASTED time dealing with the owner. I sure hope nobody else gets caught by their crookedness..
Buy you Mac products direct from Mac and deal with professionals. -

Wow, I'm stunned at the high ratings. I've been in this store four times. Twice I wandered around trying to get the attention of a salesperson, but every time I made eye contact, they would quickly look down at their screens and busily type away. Nary a 'someone will be with you shortly'. I left both times after a reasonable amount of time.
The third time I was checking to see if they had stock of a recently discontinued model, and the salesperson was unaware that the new model had even been introduced. Always sad when a hobbyist is more on top of things than a sales rep.
The fourth time I dropped by to pick up an item that was out of stock at Future Shop. It was about 50% more expensive at Simply, and when I mentioned that to the sales clerk he replied that they can't offer the same prices as Future Shop because Simply provides a better user experience. Based on my previous visits to Simply, I just laughed. -

Simply Computing knows their stuff, which is pretty handy when you're trying to figure out what's compatible with what. (This, of course, was more of a problem back in the iMac days of the '90s.)
After my boyfriend went to the east coast for a vacation and took his laptop, I suddenly found myself computer-less. Although I'd been scoping out new computers for awhile it was that little push of being completely unplugged that I needed.
I dropped by Simply Computing and explained I was looking to buy a Mac but wanted something second hand. Although they don't usually carry second hand computers, it was my lucky day as the store assistant had one on hand that he'd actually purchased for himself. He needed to clean up the hard drive, so he said he'd call me when the computer was ready.
True to his word, he called me as promised and I got the sweet little laptop that is allowing me to bring you this review. -

If the Apple Store downtown is too inconvenient, this is a great second choice. They've been dealing with Mac far longer than any of the staff at the main Apple source downtown and really know what they're doing. They carry a variety of products (basically everything you could possible find/want from the online Apple store) and are incredibly knowledgeable. For the techie novice, they won't drown you in esoteric computer jargon but will explain things carefully and clearly.
It's my preferred place when my Mac is in a funk. -

These guys have been dealing Apple computers for as long as I can remember and are pretty much the goto guys for anything I have made by Apple.
They are knowledgeable and pretty helpful, however calling in is a total pain in the ass. These guys unfortunately never pick up the phone, or so it seems.
Once you're in the store though or if you get through on the phone it's great. -

This is my second major MAC purchase in the past 12 years. I am repeat customer only because of Simply Computing's loyalty to their customers at maintaining a high standard of "no pressure sales", knowledgeable staff and fabulous technical support. I highly recommend this company.

I'm less and less impressed with the service at this location. Twice this week I had to bring in my computer to get it looked at -- a strange chipping of the plastic edge on a macbook pro. The first time I was told to bring it in another day and they'll have someone call up Apple with the laptop and see if the damage is covered under warrantee. When I returned on another day, they said that they needed my computer for an unspecified amount of time more than 20 minutes, possibly more than 3 hours... I needed to work on the computer. It would have been nice if the first guy had told me that I could only bring it back when I could give it up for the afternoon -- he specifically did not say that when I asked if I could keep the computer when they were negotiating with Apple headquarters. I think it's a sign -- that I should just go straight to the source and deal with Apple directly -- especially since this is (most likely) a warrantee covered repair.
In my initial review, I suggested that it was worth paying a little more for attentive and helpful service. Recent experiences however have made me realize that the service isn't worth paying more for... Anthony who mans the service desk dished out seriously bad attitude regarding my queries. So, it's made it so that I can't really recommend this place to people anymore... which is not to say they won't step up if you're experiencing major computer issues, but rather that their customer service reps really an attitude adjustment if they want to retain customers.
Also, moral of the story: call first to confirm stuff before going out of the way to bring in the computer. Of course, I did try to call first (twice) but no one picked up the extension when I called during business hours.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I use to go here but had some problems, dead computer on opening the box then a 3 year mix up of reciepts, then they gave me an iMac extended warranty for a macbook and I didn't notice until my son in Chile tried to install it, it was open so tough luck they said (but it was not installed or registered $300 down the drain), so now I only deal with the Apple store downtown. I normally don't review places that I don't like but I love the Apple Store so there.

I went to Simply Computing to get a Mac Book Pro. There was a number of different softwares that I needed to get for work as well. It was easy to deal with the sales rep -- I believe Kristopher was his name. He was really easy to talk to and he made sure to be informative but in terms that I understood. It was the first time I decided to buy a Mac and previously have been a PC user.
They didn't try to over sell you which is what I like. They made sure I knew that each "tech guy" has their favourite in programs (whether I chose parallels or fusion) and that the both work similarly and that whichever was the more popular in my office, I should stick with that.
I found it easy to get answers and advice on my purchases. It didn't take them very long either to get the software on my computer and within a few hours I was playing with my shiny new MACbook Pro!
I also find it very unique that Simply Computing offers classes for their products. I think that's really cool. A co worker of mine bought a new iphone and wasn't sure how to use it and spent an hour or so in one of their workshops and now knows all the shortcuts.
I would buy my next upgraded computer from Simply Computing without question. -

I bought my computer here. They're nice enough and somewhat helpful. Some are nicer and more helpful than others. They're kind of small so they don't have as many setups around to look at like the Apple Stores do. Very limited selection in iPhone cases. They overcharged me for Apple Care but once I brought it to their attention they reimbursed me. I usually go here because it's closer to me than the Apple Store. If you don't know much about Apple products and want a good customer service experience, I would not recommend going here. If you know what you want already and just need clarification on some things or don't need much help, then check them out.

good selection of apple accessories.
the techies can be rather acerbic. the sales guys' knowledge is hit or miss, although most of them seem pleasant enough.
sometimes you have to set off a flare to get their attention as they look pensive tapping away at their keyboards.
fortunately, they don't drift into full blown macland douche bag mode like some other mac stores. -

My hard drive on my macbook pro crashed on a Friday morning. I called Simply Computing twice and spoke to someone in the service dept. immediately both times. When I brought my computer in on Friday afternoon, the service counter had three staff people sitting at their stations, customer-less. The guy that helped me was great - explained things clearly and was reassuring but realistic (I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown since I hadn't backed everything up). I left my computer with them, and on Saturday a tech guy called me to let me know the status of my computer and to ask how I wanted to proceed with data retrieval. By Saturday afternoon he told me the data retrieval was successful, and by Wednesday I had a new hard drive (still under the 1-year warranty) with all of my data restored. When I went back to pick up my laptop I didn't have to wait and they were great with answering my questions. All that to say, I was really impressed with the speed and customer service at this store! I liked how they did the work on-site rather than send my laptop elsewhere, which I think is what happens at the Apple store.

I've bought three computers from them, and they've always treated me right. One computer I bought developed a glitch soon after and they swapped it for a new one, no questions asked. Good service department - techs seem to know what they are doing, but they get busy and sometimes I've waited before they could start on my service order.

This is possibly THE store for all things apple. I've had my Mac fixed here and they're speedy and knowledgeable, and I think the prices are pretty reasonable. And they don't make a point of being pretentious about explaining (or not explaining) what ails your computer. It can be pretty busy at the service counter, but I think it's worth the wait.
