I had a chance to go here tonight. While it is on the other side of a huge mall, I'm just glad that they kept the walkways of the mall open so we could go back to the skytrain.

Its different than the US theatres, as when you buy tickets, you choose the seats on a computer screen and its printed on your ticket. So nobody can be at your seat and argue with you.

They had a few more options with food compared to just the normal cinema owned food options.. which was nice.

The place was clean and looks like they try to keep the maintenance up as the escalator was down for fixing.

I had a great experience here.

Although many people complain that SilverCity has killed off a lot of the oldschool mom and pop local joints, I must say they deliver a very decent movie experience.

Parking is available in the lot underneath.  There is a ton available.

As with other SilverCity locations, there are certain amenities you can expect, such as large TVs showing the movie listings and show times, as well as self-serve booths.  The staff are helpful, and the seats are nice and comfy.  As long as you're not sitting in front of the connecting aisle.  Then it gets seriously painful with the neck cramps.  They should just tear our those seats. You're better getting a refund if you're forced to stuck there.

Of course, be sure to get a Scene card and rack up some free movies.

The only complaint I have with SilverCity in gerenal is that their washrooms are always freaking GROSS.  Not sure if the ladies have this problem but quite often (as a guy) I have to across / through puddles on the way to do my thing.  I always make a point not to drink anything before coming here.

I think it goes for many of you when I say, "I come here for the convenience."

It's usually easier for most of us to meet up here, but if I had a choice I would pick another location.  Seating is aright, but uncomfortable if you need to sit for long.  Just don't come here on opening nights or sometimes on weekend it's a zoo of kids here.... unless that's your thing.  Line up for tickets, line up for food, and line up for the movie.  Very rarely we get the seating we want at this theater.  Come earlier in the day, come earlier for your movie, or just avoid this one all together.

I still have to give good props to this theatre, the parking situation here, if you come for the later shows after 9 are still pretty good, there are a ton of self automated machines to buy your tickets, and the line up to pay in cash, or use your Scene rewards points moves along pretty quickly when they are well staffed. I do like how convenient this theatre is, not really out of the way, as you can cheap it out for food downstairs at McD's before going into watch your flick.

Caught the 1015 showing of MI:Ghost Protocol on this night, a month after it's intial release, and the theatre was half empty, the way I like it, but the seating, regardless of where you sit, is pretty good, the seats are spacious, and your not stepping on old popcorn, and sticky floors from the last person who decided to by tardy, as the staff really tries to keep things clean.

Big Screen, Big Sound, not so much, but it will do, but the advantages of this theatre, cheap food close by, as long as you don't eat in the theatre (McD's and even cheaper, Superstore!) parking galore, as it is located in a mall, and enough movies showing, as I noticed that even some older flicks that have come off some theatres, like Scotia in downtown, probably would have a few weeks more running here.

Ever since they changed their layout a year or so ago, it's much better.  Buying tickets & going to washrooms are easier.

The main reason why I like this one is that it's compact.  You don't have to walk a mile to buy food or washroom once you're inside the theatre.  Those last-minute cravings for popcorn, you know?

And it's great to do some shopping before/after too.

p.s. Grey was actually better than i thought, Liam Neeson.

Went to watch the Hunger Games and discovered that a few rows in the upper-middle section are now reserved for people who pay more for the "DBox" option. As if paying $12.50 wasn't expensive enough, I now have to pay a surcharge for the good spots in the room. This reminds me of why I prefer to watch movies at home or at an indie/smaller chain.

Get out of my way!! My movie starts in 10 minutes :@!!! This place is like the sky train station. It is always packed and congested with people. I can not stand coming here for movies, I am mostly at the one downtown, Tinsel Town, or Station Square. Just waiting in line for the box office and the debit/credit machines are such a hassle and it is so packed that it gets so hot in there.

As usual, the price of food is expensive and disgusting, so I never buy movie food. You are paying for expensive air and watered down sugar water. I mean there are already places to eat downstairs, why are you even bothering to eat while watching a movie? I think that is just movie etiquette. Don't eat loud snacks, or really pungent food in the theaters. That is just RUDE.

I don't like much about this place as it is such a populated movie theater that is not worth going at all except it is close within the area. I try to avoid this branch at all cost. Too many people and the theater fills up fast. :(

Nice big great looking theatre right a in a huge mall. Free underground parking. That's all good. The cons: Some of the staff are idiots. I've seen some staff, including even one of the managers , ignore while chatting with a friend when they're supposed to be selling tickets. Several times long after the movie starts, the doors are still open so some theatregoer has to get up and close it. Also the worst part is the washrooms. always out of soap/towels, bins overflowing, and sometimes nearly all or all the stalls are unusable, because of broken doors, clogged toilets full of pretty much everything you can think of. Clean these bathrooms more often! It's getting ridiculous. I only go here because my friend wants to go here and it's closer to where he lives.

If I watch a movie, it's usually at Silvercity Metropolis.  It's convenient, usually has the movie I want to watch and parking is always free.

The downside is that it draws a lot of the younger crowd as opposed to watching movies at Scotia Bank Theatre downtown, but I can deal with it.

I'm happy with the big box cinemas.  The price has creeped up in the past few years, but hasn't everything else too?

Sometimes the weekly movie I attend is here...  So the beloved skytrain from downtown must carage me to the tunnel of amazingness (the walkway from skytrain to metrotown) in a single fashion line past the likes of A&W and Starbucks, through the door to the mall that everyone in Vancouver has touched and isn't cleaned.... through the WHOLE mall, probably another K, K and a half.

Like the theatre though.... saw 50/50 yesterday with Seth Rogan and saw Moneyball in the new AVX theatre (the one where you can choose your seats!!! YES FINALLY i can choose my awesome seat and then show up only 5 mins early instead of going 30mins early hahah... the 2 bucks extra is worth my 25 mins... :)

This theatre can get quite busy, and for good reason. There are a lot of cinemas in this complex, and showing different formats, like Digital 3D,
AVX, AVX 3D and Imax 3D and of course the standard format. AVX stands for Audio Video Experience, the difference is; reserved seating, louder deeper surround sound, and a wider screen. The screen is not as tall as an Imax screen how ever. I had a better 3D experience with the AVX 3D, compared to the Digital 3D. I compared the 2 formats with the same movie ( Green Lantern ). For big block buster movies I usually wait 1 or 2 weeks before I go see them, that way the line up and seating is not so crowded. Out of all the other cinemas in Greater Vancouver, I prefer this one. Recommend.

Silvercity Metropolis is the same standard of theatre as most of Cineplex's theatres.  They have stadium seating in each and every theatre so that some tall guy does not get in the way of you view of the movie.  The concession area of the theatre is large with a decent selection of junk food at high prices.  This theatre can be very busy on weekends and on Tuesdays when the movies are cheaper.  Also if you are seeing a new movie on opening night get there early as lineups are not an uncommon thing!  Like most theatres if your movie is in 3D be ready to be gouged.  3D movies cost a couple of dollars more than your average flick (even know those stupid glasses are just cleaned and repackaged).

The Ultra AVX movies are a new style of movie going.  You get nicer leather seats and the seating is assigned when you purchase your ticket.  This means there is not worries about lining up for the movie beforehand for a new movie as you already know where you are sitting!  The screens are slightly larger and the sound systems are upgraded to kick you but even better in action movies.

I just wish it did not cost an arm and a leg to see a movie these days.  Make sure you join http://scene.ca to collect points towards free movies and concessions.

I came to this theater to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on the Sunday of opening weekend.  My boyfriend and I arrived before 10:30am (when the theater opens since the first movie starts at 11am) and there was two lines: one down the escalator and one down the stairs.  We had one of those Cineplex night out coupons from Costco so we had to wait in line (no automated ticket machine for us).  The 11am show sold out quickly while we were waiting in line, so we decided to see the 11:30am show.  To our surprise, the theater wasn't super packed so we were able to get great seats.  I will definitely come back to this theater when I want to see another blockbuster opening weekend.

In terms of parking, it was really easy to find an underground spot on Sunday morning.  It's a bit tougher to find parking later in the day at Metrotown (be prepared to drive around), but we've always been able to find a spot.  The fact that Metrotown is easiy accessible by public transit means that driving to this theater isn't your only option.

In terms of location, Metrotown is awesome.  There is plenty of shopping and restaurants there (and an arcade!) so there is no shortage of things to do if you arrived early for a movie or want something to do afterwards.

As for the theater itself, it is your standard Cineplex theater.  The seats are really comfy and the aisles are large enough that people can squeeze by without forcing you to stand up to let them through.  The theater itself was really clean (the floors actually weren't sticky!) but this was probably because we went to the first showing of the day.  Our Cineplex coupon also got us two drinks and a bag of popcorn, which was actually a reasonable serving (I'm used to the ridiculously huge bags of popcorn in the USA).  The popcorn was a little bit salty, but it wasn't greasy by any means.

If I have any complaints, it's that the girls washroom was a bit run down, and some of the soap containers were empty. I thought those things were refilled at the end of the night, but I was wrong.

This theatre is consistently insanely busy and crowded. If I am going to see a movie here in the evening or on a weekend, I make it a point to get there early to get seats. The food selection is not that great and getting service at the food counter seems to depend on how busy it is when you get there. That being said, this theatre is very conveniently located and they seem to always have a good selection of movies playing.

If you are going to see a movie here on the weekend and are planning on driving, definitely go early because you will likely have to stalk someone to get a parking spot.

I usually come to this theater mainly because of convenience.

The ticket line can be long, but luckily there are ticket booths that help you bypass the mess of a line up.

The food is average -- plus there are a couple of other food shops (TCBY, Pizza, etc.).  I do hate that you can't bring in your own drinks/snacks but I get that it's taking away business.

My only complaint is the theaters could be cleaner.  I've seen mice scurrying around during movies and it's disgusting!

Woah, another theatre above a mall! How bizarre... This one is a pretty regular, straightforward, cookie cutter cineplex, with the same awesome $7.00 movie deals on Tuesday and an automatic ticket counter that takes debit or credit. They have 12 blockbusters showing all day and night every night, and may occasionally have something interesting as long as it made box office.

Also, they have $4 bottles of coke in their vending machines, which is probably the most you'll pay for a bottle of non alcoholic liquid in the entire city. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Big theatres ensure you'll always be able to find a decent seat, and they always play the 3d films as well. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday, at least.

This theatre is a zoo! However, there's a lot going on here and they also have several screens.

There's also a lot of free underground parking as part of Metrotown.  You don't have to worry about freezing in the cold when you're going back to your parking spot after your movie.  On the other hand, that elevator is always packed after the movie to get back to the parkade.

It's not as clean as the Scotiabank theatre downtown.  But, this theatre is close by, and the screens & seats are great.  You just have to put up with more young people here.

Wow Silvercity Metropolis certainly offers a wide choice of movies when you can't make up your mind what to see and on top of it you can have Taco Bell while you are watching the movies.
Gone are the days when it was only pop and popcorn; here you have taco bell, kfc, pizza pizza, speciality coffees and frozen yogurts and of course popcorn. The seats are awesome and comfy but they are not the rocking style chairs over at stadium mall. They have the best seats bar none.
I like this theatre though, it is definitely clean but of course expensive and with the speciality food and ticket to the show, it will cost you 1 days pay at work.
But overall great theatre. I definitely go there.

Despite the theater layout being rather confusing, this is one of the better places in town to catch a new release at. It's decent, though very crowded at times. The lineup for the counter is always long, so be prepared to use the online ticketing service or the automatic machines.

Don't purchase any concession here, it will bankrupt you, and besides, it isn't that good or healthy for you in any case. Eat outside: Freshslice and McDonalds are conveniently close.

The theater itself is nice. It's never too cold, and thought it can become crowded there is always enough seats available. Come early for new releases, you'll end up waiting in line for the popular movies, but it's usually not that bad. The floor is permanently sticky, probably from all the times that people spilled their soft drinks on, so if you have expensive and/or nostalgic shoes, best not wear them to watch a movie.

They charge an extra $3 for 3D movies and won't let you bring your own glasses in. The normal movies are decently priced, if you want a discount, head over to your nearest high school and ask for movie vouchers.

Despite this location being only 7 minutes away from me, I would rather drive to coquitlam! During the summer they either have AC problems, or they are too cheap to put it on. It will be muggy and nasty while you enjoy your flick. Obviously during the winter they do the same, I keep a thin blanket in my car for just this reason! Freezing while eating my stale popcorn. Never in the past year have I had warm popcorn from this location, they make it ahead of time and store it and it is not good, especially since you are paying through the nose! Also, at least 2 of their quickpay machines will not be working at any given time. Seeing a late movie? Prepare to run the gauntlet (aka the crowds pushing down the single flight of stairs) only to be followed by the labyrinth to get to your car if you didn't park in the silvercity area, they gate off huge sections of the mall after hours (God knows how anyone who took the skytrain gets back!) thumbs wayyyy down.

Attached to the behemoth Metrotown shopping complex, Silvercity cinemas offers up to fifteen movies at any one time, with room for private screenings and special cinematic events such as screened operas and WWF Wrestling events.

Personally, I am more of a fan of the independent movie theatre, but for days when I need to see the latest big box office flick, this is the theatre to come to. Our last adventure here was to see Batman last summer and it was nothing short of madness, which was to be fully expected and should be when partaking in any major cinematic releases. Another experience had my friend and I here to see Sex and the City in a private screening. We were seated in an intimate theatre and later treated to cosmopolitans at TGI Fridays (transformed into a lounge instead of...well, TGI Fridays.

Prices are average at $11.95 for adults and $8.95 for children and seniors, no special cheap movie days to be had here.

This theatre is attached to the Metrotown Mall. The only pet peave i have about this place is the fact that the up escalator is constantly breaking down so you have to walk up.But other then that im a fan of this theatre
