I like the look and feel of this place. I am not into the modern theatres that are trying to be cities for monetary extraction. This is a great theatre for my needs. Close to subway. Close to home. Parking all around. Candy Mountain across the street.

If you have time to kill there is an Indigo Bookstore attached which always is a great way to spend a few minutes browsing.

They have enough screens that the choices of movies is first run and generally good. We usually go after the rush of new releases has died down  to avoid the lines others have mentioned. Lots of self service terminals if the line for the cash is long.

I suppose my only real complaint is the concession stand seems to always be understaffed. So if you have popcorn coupons... which we often do! Expect to wait a bit. Thankfully the 15 minutes of adds and trailers gives you ample time.

pet peeve: paying for the movie and being forced to see adds!

The last movie I watched in this theater was Indiana Jones 4. That was in 2008. I haven't returned to this theater until yesterday.

Let's talk about the positives first. The theater's screens are good sizes. They aren't mind-blowingly large, but they are satisfyingly big enough. I have to mention that some screens are on the medium size. Sound system is decent. It isn't state of the art, but clarity is nothing to be ashamed of. Seat comfort is typical Cineplex. Decent cushioning, but legroom is a big lacking. Width is just enough to have your own personal space. On some seats, the springs are felt as if they are going to boing out of the seats.

I hang out around the area time to time. I don't particularly find this area exciting, but I enjoying spending my time around Yonge/Eglinton after all. Even though it doesn't have stand-out characteristics, it has its own charm and culture. But I never felt like going to this theater to watch a movie. Watching a movie at this theater always has been an afterthought for me even though I am in the area. The surrounding is just too plain. There are many good dining options. There is a couple of clubs. There are some decent bars. There are some good clothing stores. But somehow the neighborhood lacks strong personality that draws me in.

Then you have to look at the people who come to the theater. It was just Thursday night. Then what kind of people can I expect on weekends? I don't really want to know.

People spitting everywhere. Smoking teen girls. Scantily dressed teen girls. Teen boys with poor sense of fashion. Teen boys with pants hanging below buttocks. Teen girls with too much make-up. 14 year olds making out. Teens trying to be romantic. Teens trying to be cool. 20 somethings with loud voices. 20 somethings trying too hard to be mature. 30 somethings trying too hard to be young. 30 somethings forgetting that they are not 18 anymore. Jersey Shore cast rejects. Dudes with poor hygienes. Girls spitting with loud noise. Walking into Pickle Barrel with high heels thinking she's got class just because she's wearing heels that make really annoying noises despite the fact that she will be sitting next to blue collar workers.

Now that I think about it, I used to hang out here quite a lot during my teenage years. It was a short travel from my house. It wasn't completely downtown core, but it still was a world of fascination for us. It gave us a peek into a mysterious adult world that seemed so cool in the eyes of 14 year olds. All those nights wandering around the area meaninglessly. I don't know what we did, but it was so much fun and adventurous for us. Now that I am an adult, I can't imagine how stupid we could have looked. Probably someone thought the same when he/she looked at us.

For that reason, this theater puts Richmond street on weekend nights to shame. Well, actually, it dignifies them. At least those people are drunk and came out to have wild fun.

Parking drives me nuts too. Street parking is impossible unless you are lucky. And underground lots are scattered everywhere. There is one right next to Spring Rolls. It is quite inexpensive.

    Pros:
-easily accessible by transit from anywhere in the old City of Toronto
-okay number of screens & concession selection
-right near the Pickle Barrel, for mediocre before-movie food
-even nearer to Indigo, which is convenient for meeting friends, or grabbing a book that has to be better than the movie you just saw

    Cons:
-god, the carpet smelled terrible this time.  It needs a cleaning badly.  Very, very badly.
-parking validation only covers 25% of the cost!
-terrible cramped, confusing parking garage; go by TTC

I actually really like the location of this Theatre - perfect for dinner and a movie. It has its downfalls though.

Not very many screens, lineups everywhere (to get your tickets, to get food, to use the bathroom), and it is not easily wheel chair accessable. I'm pretty sure you would have to go through the mall to get in - you could not use the front entrance.

There's not much to say. It is what you'd expect of a SilverCity theatre, once you've got your tickets and food and you're all settled in, the screens are good and it is still a decent place to catch a flick.

This is one of my favourite theatres in Toronto.  The location is great.  I like the way the ticket booth and kiosks are set up, too.  Nice screens, good sound, good seats.  Expect lineups for everything as it is a busy theatre.  Also, I wish they had a few more bathrooms more evenly spread out so you don't have to walk so far to use them.

This theatre was one of the first big-slam-bam-thank-you-ma'am cinema experiences to come to the city, and was the default place to go for a larger-than-life moviegoing experience.

But I went there recently, and it already feels... old. It's kinda like the Matrix, in a way. Really cool in 1999, but a few years later, and you have to laugh at it. Doesn't help that Silvercity is to blame for the homogenization of the Yonge-Eglinton intersection, and the death of two of my favourite theatres in the city, the Eglinton and York. Booo.

I guess one good thing about the area is that you can smuggle in some cheap candy from Metro or a subway Cinnabon instead of paying cloud-high theatre concession prices.

With a fanciful name like SilverCity, you'd expect a large expansive movie complex catering to every whim that you have, theatres everywhere with ample seating, and a selection of films to satisfy even the most fickle.  Sadly, SilverCity at Yonge and Eglinton has a dulled version of these trappings and is presented as a place to see movies, rather than an entertainment complex.

As accommodating as the staff are, I've yet to get there when there isn't a line-up at the by-today's-standards-small concession stands.  Admittedly caused by a lack of floor space, the snack bar becomes crowded easily and can cause unfortunate delays in getting movie provisions.

The theatres themselves are smaller in scale, but still have all the trappings of a decent movie theatre (big screen, adequate sound system, etc.).  One thing that it does have in its favour is the location.  Being at Yonge and Eglinton, it's easy to book-end the evening with a meal at the many restaurants and bars, or head off to see a live comedy show at Absolute Comedy (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) if the film you hoped would be a romantic comedy you witnessed turned out to be neither.

To add to the comments of previous reviewers, with whom I agree, I thought the high slop stadium seating was nice.  The self-serve ticket machines are not arranged very well, however, and the instructions on their screens need to be much better.
