Review from Iralynn B.
I went here on a Thursday evening for dinner. I had the haddock fish and chips. The portions were huge! I was only able to eat half, and I tend to eat a lot. The haddock's batter was yummy and fried perfectly so it wasn't greasy.
The ambiance in the bar is good, and the people are super friendly. I hung around for drinks and made new friends. Good times for sure! -

For fifty years the Heights has been an honest to goodness neighborhood joint.
There's an atmosphere of comfortable, one might even say, cultivated shabbiness that makes it the kind of place where you can settle in for the night, or the next fifty years if you so desired.
The restaurant is a clean, simple and fairly up to date space where the kitchen ably delivers expected staples.
But it's in the lounge where, in my opinion, the Heights' charm truly rests.
A large bar predominates, a few tables scattered here and there, and it has the unmistakable feel of a pub. Not a crude knock off, or even an attempt at doing so, but a truly Canadian local where flyboys from the CFB alike come for lunch, dinner, drinks and vie for the affections of the servers.
It's hoserdom is proudly prounounced by a banner which hangs in the overflow slash karaoke bar where plastic social tables seat would be singers--Mondays and Wednesdays we accept Canadian Tire Money.
It doesn't get any more Winnipeg than this.
At least until you discover the wing-chos on the menu (nachos topped with hot wings). A personal favourite is the wimpy platter, sliders from some kind of pre-fab patty. Although four does not in my opinion constitute a platter, I ordered it times three and managed, through many meat sweats, to eat the entire dozen, an ingestion of 1 1/2 pounds of meat that I dare you to repeat.
You'll find all the basic beers in bottle and on tap or do the dirty, pour back a pint of their daringly named Sheights Lager and settle in for a few (nights).

Great place for lunch. Had the 1/2 rib special which were tender and saucy. As I didn't want the starch side (potato, fries or rice) I was able to substitute additional Caesar salad. My dining companion had the Liver and Onions which was a huge portion. Went midweek and the restaurant was packed. We only had to wait a couple of minutes for a table and food came fast.
