I've been in the events business for more than a decade, and I've worked with a lot of photographers in my time. So it's with an experienced eye that I say that Shoshana's work blew me away.
I first came across her photography through her family portraits, which are wonderful - she really captures the joy and creates a piece of artistic history for families to treasure. But, not having a family, I was unlikely to use those services any time soon.
Recently, I was able to see her work at a bar mitzvah. That's where she blew my mind. I've seen a lot of action shots at those kinds of things, and they all look kinda... awkward. Not these.
The photos of the bar mitzvah boy in the middle of the ceremony look like they were the product of thousands of takes in a studio, with a professional model used to posing for hours, choosing -just- the right one - except there weren't thousands. There were just those few minutes with one nervous 13-year-old to get it right, and oh boy did she. Most teenagers will look back at the photos of that moment and cringe, but I know this one will look at them and go "Wow. I looked that good?"
Even the candids and posed photos really capture the moment, and she has the uncanny knack of making people who usually photograph really badly look stellar.
There are no words to recommend her highly enough, but hopefully these will do.
