I have a depressingly long-standing relationship with various Laundromats in the Burnaby area. It seems whenever I lived there I never had laundry and , let me tell you, laundromats are hell on earth. You already hate your life for having to go to one but then they tend to be run down, annoying and full of just awful people. Shorty's though made it all a fairly painless experience.
What Shorty's has is good staff. They're really attentive both to the machine and the people in the place. Most places have someone half-asleep behind a counter but at Shorty's there was always someone running around doing the orders palced for them. They also had private machines for their drop-off work so there was never an issue of too many machines being clogged by their business. Their attentiveness tended to also mean no broken machines AND I always felt comfortable leaving my washing while I went over for some food.
Also, the usual TV in a laundromat at shorty's was not only not broken, but had a controller! Wow. Definitely nothing amazing or out of the ordinary at Shorty's but having a working place and friendly, attentive staff really goes a long way with a laundromat. -

Being one of two laundry facilities in the area (this being the closest) one finds themselves loathing the experience, true. However aside from the sleepy asian attendant who seems to have turrets with the frequent load Asian shouts to no one in particular, I've yet to go and find it too busy. Sadly they close at 8pm every weeknight, and 7pm on the weekends so this sometimes means a scramble to get a load started the hour before deadline.
