FANTASTIC BBQ! As much as I'd hate to lose our little secret for great Southern/Carolinian BBQ (my wife & I go almost weekly), "you go there once, you'll be there twice" and 3x, and 4x, ... .
These guys earn your repeat business with every bite of every offering on the menu. It only takes once to become addicted to their pulled pork sandwich.
Flavourful, succulent food done right by two guys who love what they are doing. Don't let the out of the way location and ho-hum decor fool you (btw, it's a tribute to the great bbq shacks of the US South), this is probably the best bbq you'll find North of the Mason-Dixon Line!!!
Being better than average cooks ourselves, there aren't many places where my wife and I don't think 'meh, we could do better' after a meal out; this place definitely isn't one of those places! [The food is so good, Shomkey's is catering my 40th.]
The only potential drawback for first time visitors is that Shmokey's is a cash only (no debit either) establishment. It's definitely your loss if that stops you from going.
There is NO b.s. in any of the 5 star ratings (3 as of this writing); if you love bbq, you will loooovvvveeeee Shmokey Rob & Son's!!!!!!! -

Urgently in need of a pulled pork sandwich, I rushed over to Shmokey's for my hog fix. This is currently the best. Pulled pork sandwich in Ontario ! Amazing.

Hidden away in the worst "mall" in London lies an unbelievable gem of a Restaurant: Shmokey Rob & Sons (could this be the best name for a restaurant ever?) This, my friends, is the most authentic Southern BBQ experience you will get in SW Ontario.
The setting is a small space inside a deserted plaza. A couple of pictures on the wall that were probably left over from the last guy, and a couple of chefs who know how to cook up some seriously good barbecue.
The menu is limited, but spot-on: BBQ pulled pork, beef brisket, a burger, ribs, fish & chips, and various southern sides including baked beans and cole slaw. Prices are very reasonable - a main, side and drink will cost you about $12 with tip, and you're not going to leave hungry.
We went by for lunch and ordered up two of the house specialty pulled pork sandwich. It's served Memphis style, with slaw directly on top of the meat. The bun is not your run of the mill Wonder bread, but a proper Portuguese roll lightly toasted on the grill. The meat itself tastes like it's been slow-smoked for many hours, and it's served in a BBQ sauce that's is a bit on the sweet side but not overpowering. We also had some fries that were excellent.
Service is low-key but extremely friendly. The two guys running the place are genuine chefs cooking up food that they love, and were happy to talk about food, business and politics.
We left feeling completely full. We'll definitely be back.
