Review from Miss M.

I found Dr. Wise through my college database of dentists available through my coverage plan. I chose her office based purely on location, and I was EXTREMELY scared to go because I hadn't been to the dentist for a few years and I had a couple of teeth that were in trouble.
I was able to make an appointment for x-rays within a week of calling, and reception was very pleasant to deal with. I found out that I would need two root canals but I was reassured that it wouldn't be so bad as I expected and Dr. Wise herself calmed me down and let me know that the specialist who would be doing the root canals was very good and I was lucky to get him.
Dr. Bonev was the specialist and he had to deal with a trembling wimpy patient (me!), but he calmed me down and reassured me that everything would be fine. Throughout the entire procedure (3 separate days and about 4 hours total on the chair) he kept asking me if I'm okay and making sure I was comfortable. The only complaint I would have is that their tv's don't have earphones, and that would be nice so that you don't concentrate on all the drills and needles going in and out of your mouth. Haha.
Right now, I can't afford to get more work done, but in the future - even if it's not through my school, I will definitely return for all my dental needs.
Highly recommended to others. -
Review from Robin M.
It's a rare occasion that I review a dentist, but this is one deserving of my words. Dr Sheri Wise, where do I start? (an aside: I will not rant. No. I'm not going to be that person) Standardized billing makes it impossible to overcharge for a checkup, but the extras? Suddenly I need a root canal?! Whaaaa?
So let's back up a few months then, shall we? I pretty much eat nothing but local, fresh, un-packaged goodness, but every once in awhile I want something sweet. And no, I'm not talking about Okanagan fruit; and no, I'm not talking about the bar of 80% cocoa sitting in my butter drawer. No, friends, I'm talking straight-up trashy sugar. Gummy worms and sour soothers and sweedish berries and those weird frogs with the marshmallow bottoms -- you know what I'm saying. I freaking love sugar. Like, luuuuuurve sugar. So much so that I have been known to be prone to a cavity or three in my life. And sigh -- such is the way with fillings these days -- one fell out. Now let's fast forward to this: my Dr. Wise adventures.
At the checkup -- "ohhh, that looks pretty bad. Let's take take MORE xrays beyond what your dentist in another province took just TWO WEEKS AGO because their up-to-date technology isn't what we deal with here." (read: Robin pays more money). Then, THEN she says that the cavity is "too deep" to fill and that my tooth is dead.
Dead.
A dead tooth. I will need a root canal (even though my dentist, as in the one I see on a semi-regular basis in another province, said otherwise). Read: Robin pays even MORE money she doesn't have.
There is more to this story then I'll let on, but look, I listened in grade 3. I know when someone is giving me the "no" feeling. I get it. Thank the tooth faerie in heaven I listened to that feeling and sought out another opinion, because it turns out the cavity wasn't so bad after all. In fact, the tooth was still very much alive. All it needed was a patch up, just like my regular dentist said. JUST LIKE MY REGULAR DENTIST SAID.
I want to rant more, I really really REALLY do. But I won't. I felt like I was being taken for a ride the entire time I was there. I was a poor student -- a poor part-time student with NO insurance. Unnecessary xrays and thousand-dollar root canals made me say no, Dr Sheri Wise. No, I don't want any of that noise you're pushing. I will continue to see my new dentist, and will continue to visit my old one, but I will never be back to see this one. Nope.
Nope.
No.Listed in: Nope, Not Again

I found Dr. Wise online because I was searching for a dentist with free parking, and decided to look at Oakridge. I was scared to go (seems that most people are) because it had been years since I had seen a dentist. I was able to make an appointment the next day because of a cancellation and even though I was afraid, it was probably the best visit I have ever had to a dentist! My hygienist Linda was great, really funny and nice and I really recommend her! Dr. Wise was super friendly and I'm going to be sending all my friends and family here from now on! p.s. NO CAVITIES! yay!
