Naan-wich. That's why you should go.

I could end the review with that very first line because thats all I needed to hear to convince me to check this food vendor @ the Farmer's Market.

I ordered their chicken Naan-which and graciously waited for 10-15 minutes for them to make it. The wait was worth it. While I thought it would be an Indian version of a shawarma, I was wrong. It was very different. Their naan alone was amazing, it was soft, fluffy, and buttery. The grilled chicken was season with spices that made the taste very unique and it had a yogurt based sauce that just jacked the naan-which's succulence of excellence...yeah thats right you heard me. Succulence of excellence

The price was fair, I always love a hearty lunch that goes under $10. And the ladies-including Ms. Shefali herself, were very friendly and quite lovely to talk to :)

History

Established in 2003

Shefali Somani (Shef), born in Tanzania to Indian parents, took great interest in learning to cook from her mother from a young age, and has been to Thailand thrice to learn their regional cooking as well.  In 2003, she started catering and teaching in clients' homes, and joined forces with her sister, Sharon, in 2007 to start a thriving business at The Calgary Farmers' Market.  You can also find many of their products at Market 17 and Blush Lane Organic Market.

Meet the Business Owner: Shefali S.

My full name is Shefali Somani, but everyone calls me Shef- (just like you think it would sound).  I was born in Tanzania, though we are originally from  Gujarat, India. Since my youth, I took a great interest in learning to cook from my mother and grew up in her kitchen.
Like the languages and religions of India, East Indian cuisine is very regional and can vary from province to province and from family to family. These recipes are passed down to me through my family. Most of the vegetarian recipes are Gujrati, and the meat dishes are from Northern India, with a Mogul or Muslim influence.
