Long hair, don't care.
Okay - correction, long hair, DO care & Shear Image Salon has always satisfied my trimming & re-layering needs.
It's a cute mom & pop shop -- the hubby washes hair, sweeps, and does what he can to help out, while the wifey does the cuts. I have absolutely no complaints. She has always respected my 1-2 inch trim limit and she is always done in ~10 minutes. Moreover, she doesn't brag about herself or rag on the person who previously cut your hair (as other stylists sometimes do). No fuss, her work is quickly and efficiently executed, and lets be real here -- cuts are dirt cheap ($15 w/o wash).
I've never tried anything trendy or too complicated with her (so I can't say with certainty whether she'd be able to do it)... BUT, if all you need is a trim or a basic cut, definitely check this place out. -

If you're looking for excellent service at an affordable price, you've found it!
For being staffed with only two people, they expedite the process flawlessly. Even though the hairdresser was still working with a client (I arrived slightly early for my 5 pm appointment), her counterpart promptly washed my hair at the shampoo station and provided me with plenty of magazines after while I waited. When I showed her a picture of what I wanted (simply a trim, reverting back to my short layers and full bangs), she told me with complete honesty that she was a little uncomfortable with my request. I replied that I appreciated her honesty, but I was confident she would do her best. And she did!
Though I'm unsure how far her range goes in terms of adventurous cuts, I will definitely be back in a couple weeks for my next trim! -
Review from Steph W.
Let's be real, I was super scared to try this place out, despite the awesome reviews! I mean, didn't i vow 15 years ago never to go to a cheapy haircut place? Geary blvd=all metered parking so after I found a residential spot, I walk into the neatly organized Shear Image. It is clear where each stations is, the waiting area, cash register, nail area, haircuts, massage table. I arrive a bit early, and the co-owner (the hair dresser's husband) motions for me to sit down so he could shampoo my hair. The water is a bit cool as he splashes it over my hair...brrr...but as it heats up, I start to relax. Shampoo, conditioner, and then wrapping my hair tight. As I was getting a shampoo, a woman walks in with her son, hoping to get her son a haircut. The hair dresser, asks, can you wait 15 minutes? Fifteen minutes?! O no, no, no, I begin to panic a little...my hair is super long, and it takes longer for me to buzz cut my husband's hair than 15 minutes! I sit waiting for the moment of truth...did I make the right call to come here?
Per others' reviews, I downloaded a picture of my intended haircut on my telephone. The hair dresser examines it twice before making any cuts. She then turns to the other customer, and says, "Actually, it will take 30 minutes." Phew. I offer to wait while she cuts the little boy's hair, but she says, "no, no." The other customer cannot wait and leaves. As she cuts my hair, another walk-in...she turns him away too b/c she is concentrating on my hair. This comforts me to know that she would turn down business so that she could do a good job.
I watch her intently throughout the entire process. My panic returns as she makes the first cut, just straight chopping off 6 inches of my hair, not building up to cutting my bob. Throughout the haircut, at times, she looks like an expert, others, she freaks me out by looking like she is randomly chopping/not looking. As time passes, I am liking what I see. She layers it a bit shorter in the back, stating, "This will be easier to manage."
After all the cuts are made, it looks exactly like the picture. My hair was still wet, and she asked, blowdry? I say, "Yes," hoping that this isn't extra, but suspecting it is...I want it regardless b/c I want to see what my hair looks like dry...she blow dries it inwards, making it look a bit different from the picture, but I am sure when I wash it, it will return. My hair is nice and bouncy. I am happy with it. I ask her the price, and she says, $35 so plus tip $40+. How did this turn into that expensive of a haircut? I use the word expensive loosely, as this is half i normally pay for a haircut. Just FYI, the base rate is cheap, but if you want the luxuries of shampoo/conditioner and blowdry, it's extra. B/c of the cheap base, i got giddy, and of course, added whatever I thought I "needed."
At the end of the day, as I walked back to my car, I was trying to peak at every car window...(not a normal occurrence), but just to see my hair bounce LOL. When I came home, compliments from the husband and fam (who are brutally honest). I was glad after weeks of debate that I "went for it," got the haircut that I wanted, and ended my vow to never go hair-cut-affordable. =) -

I love this place. On a whim, I decided to look for a place to get a trim. Hair was kinda all over the place and was in dire need. I found Shear Image which is close to my office. I popped right in, sat right down and the owner went to work. Within 20 mins my hair was trimmed juts the way I asked. Super cute husband and wife duo. $15 for a basic trim for long hair (I asked to trim/layer the front of my hair). Love, love, love mom and pop shops.

On the advice of Yelpers, I made a same-day appointment and came in with a few pictures of my hairstyle of choice, which was essentially the cut I already had, trimmed, with less body. Afterwards, the cut looked absolutely perfect with damp hair, but once I got home, it looked a lot choppier than it should have been. She had used scissors instead of a razor to layer, and I'm used to the latter. The layers don't look as refined. It does look better after a few days once it has grown out, however.
When you're paying $22 for a shampoo and a cut ($15 dry), there has to be a catch. I lose some trust and having that familiar rapport. I always thought of seeing my stylist as going to therapy; to me, the price was always worth what I'd get in return, which not only involved a haircut, but friendship--and that's priceless.
Shear Image is one of those places where you need to be sure of what you want. It seems obvious, but I trust my stylist enough to do what she thinks would look best after little direction, and it always comes out great. And for $80, I'd expect it to. But if all you want to do is "cut" to the chase, so to speak, you can't beat it. Being direct about what you want for a cheap cut is not a bad compromise. She will do whatever you want done to your hair (and is very open and understanding about it), so the more specific you are, the better.
The wash was very thorough (by whom I believe was her husband) and worth the $7 "splurge" if your haircut doesn't require it. Being that it is a salon, she also offers other services, such as manicures and waxing. -

I was not led wrong by Yelp. This woman is great. Show her a picture and she can do it. I have short hair which a lot of times is more difficult and unforgiving than long hair and she knows how to make even layers that grow out nicely. I will and have returned. The best part? It doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Check her out.

$15 for a women's haircut!!??
Okay. So this $15 pricetag for a haircut would make most women either:
1) cringe in fear of a most potential "disaster cut"
or
2) ask in eager curiosity: " what?! where? tell me more!"
I'll be honest. I thought a little bit of both. But now I am here to give you my opinion and tell you why Shear Image may (or may not) be for you!
The GOOD:
+ Affordable!
+ Skilled hair stylist (Paulene) who is nice, listens, asks & cares!
+ "Mom & Pop" neighborhood salon
+ Casual, clean and comfortable
+ Convenient location on Geary in Inner Richmond
+ No pretentious, snobby or high-class vibe
The (maybe) not-so-good:
- No frills
- Hair wash/style at additional cost (I believe a little above $20 with cut - but still cheap!)
- A bit impersonable & quiet (but this can go both ways, b/c I don't mind)
- NOT for those looking: to be pampered, a "salon" day, lots of amenities, VIP treatment
I went to get a hair cut at Shear Image for the first time yesterday. I asked for my hair to be trimmed, thinned out, layered, and also a bang trim. For $15, or $18 with tip included, I left satisfied and happy for 1) a hair cut that I asked for which was good, 2) paying such a good deal that can't be beat, 3) giving business to sincerely nice business owners who work hard and care about their clients. -

I'm a fan of no frill places like Shear Images that gets the job done without the attitude or the eye blurring $$$. For $15 bucks I get my long hair cut for under 30 minutes (including wait time) that will not have people asking if I'm still letting my mom cut my hair (sorry mom, but that bowl cut was traumatic).
I like to think I've run the gamut of hair cutting establishments from 3 hour cuts at Vidal Sassoon's teaching school to overpriced hipster salons on Melrose to sassy Korean saloons in LA's Ktown, and to be honest my hair always comes out looking the DAMN SAME. It's just what happens when you have long asian hair and you ask for "layers in the front, some volume on top and a V in the back." If you have similar vanilla requests, save yourself some time and money and just come here, where the cut isn't going to rock your world, but will definitely leave you satisfied. It's also nice to be supporting a local family owned business.
The place is small, and run by a husband and wife duo. From what I've seen, the wife cuts male and female hair and has been doing it for over 25 years (her words, not mine). Parking is easy or just take the 38. -

In one word: amazing! I was a little hesitant at first because I'm so particular about my hair and I'm used to paying at least 50 for a haircut...never again! As long as this lady is in business, I will be going there for haircuts & eyebrow waxes!
My advice to you: bring in a photo of what your want your hair to look like-this woman will craft your hair into exactly that photo.
Seriously, I'm so happy with this place, I'll definitely be going back! -

I've had my share of terrible haircuts. Haircuts that bear zero resemblance to the pictures of haircuts that I request for them to imitate. Ugh, enough of this remembrance puh-lease! Past is past. I think I'll leave those horrid memories there. Ick.
I had been growing my hair out after a disastrous cut that basically traumatized me. I knew that I had a ton of dry, split ends, but I was terrified of having someone chop off all my hair again. So I was searching all over yelp for a good salon to give me a good trim and some bangs that would fit my budget and I found this gem! It's a very clean, tidy mom and pop salon owned by an adorable husband and wife duo, albeit a very talented duo at that. The wife cut my hair and, wowzers, was she fast and accurate! I paid $15 for a women's haircut plus $2 tip...and and anddddd best of all, came out with bangs that look just like the picture of the bangs I wanted! I also asked for her to trim my dry, split ends as well, but also expressed to her that I wanted to keep as much length as possible. In my mind, I wanted her to trim off half an inch. She said that in order to do that, she would indeed be cutting off about half an inch of hair and that is exactly what she did. She didn't cut off one inch or one and a half inches of hair like other baloney stylists do sometimes even when they tell you they'll be cutting only half an inch. She stayed true to her word! She was really careful and precise, yet really quick with the scissors so I was out in 20 minutes tops with lovely, bouncy, soft hair and a set of chic bangs to boot! She was also very kind and soft-spoken too which I liked since I'm not so big on small talk anyway. With that being said, if you're looking for a stylist to have a mini-convo-gossip-crying session with during your haircut, you probably won't find him/her here...What you will find here is a great haircut and a pleasant experience and for me, that's all that really matters in the end.
Sooooooo....Five stars for Shear Image Salon, definitely! I am absolutely elated to find my new holy grail salon for all my haircutting needs. I am 101% sold!
Past is past. Now, I don't need to worry about the future of my hair because I know it'll be in good hands! -

WARNING: If you have long hair, make sure the salon hasn't booked an appointment 15 minutes after your appt! I called the day before to book a 5:15, got there a little early, and the man there "prepped" my hair for the lady who cut my hair. He was VERY nice, really gentle, and so polite. Super disappointed he doesn't cut hair :( Several minutes later the lady finished her phone convo and came out to cut my hair. I told her I wanted a 2 inch trim all around (fairly easy no?). In the midst of my haircut, someone comes in and she books him for 5:45, telling him there's someone at 5:30. Uhm, what? She then proceeds to chop my hair NINJA FAST, spins me around and says ok? Uhm... my hair is a DISASTER. I point out to her where I want her to fix it, she spends literally FIVE SECONDS chopping away then says I'm done. Like another reviewer said, I'm shocked by the 5 stars, which is what brought me in. And let me tell you - price is NOT indicative of the haircut you'll get. I previously went to some HK salon on Taraval for $15 and got a fantastic cut, and she spent a good 45 minutes carefully cutting my hair.
Honestly, if you are really short on time, I don't mind if you tell me to come back so you can do a decent job. This place reminds me of Kaiser where they try to bang through the patients super fast :\
Lesson learned. -

I wish i could give this place 0 stars. I am shocked about all the rave reviews about this place being so good. I went in and the lady (do not know her name) had to have everything her way. She would not even listen to me about how I wanted to part my hair and was ripping out the tangles in my hair then pouring oil into it! Such a complete nightmere. I stayed silent for 5 minutes then she kept going on and on about how I should do this and "do not put your hand there"....etc. The most anal and obnoxious lady that I have ever met! She then proceeded to tell me that there was no way that she could make me happy and that she could not cut my hair, right with the scissors in her hand about to snip my hair. Whatever you do I do NOT recommend you ever go to this place!!!! This lady really deserves the worst in her life and I wish that for her! that is how horrible she was!

$12 dry cut, $22 wash + cut. Found this place off Yelp based on the reviews and the prices, so this review is based on a first timer's experience.
I went in this morning (Tuesday) without an appointment after randomly deciding to get a haircut the night before, so that's probably my fault that they weren't open until around 10AM when their website and phone voice mail said "open 9AM." Yuuup, I got there around 9:30AM, waited for a bit, and decided to go grocery shopping, figuring that I'd just try and call them in half an hour or something..
But anyway, despite that minor inconvenience, which probably wouldn't have occurred if I had just scheduled an appointment, I liked my haircut! The lady did a wonderful job! I showed her a picture from my phone, and after that, the Yelp reviews below have pretty much summed it up: she followed the picture very accurately. She was VERY focused (albeit quiet) while working on my hair. I completely changed my hairstyle, which was probably why it took her awhile to get through my hair. Thumbs up for not adding the usual Asian flair to my hair by thinning it out!
One thing to note is that the lady doesn't thoroughly brush the hair crumbs off your neck, shoulders, etc. and the $22 wash + cut doesn't include the wash after the cut... Kinda interesting since I've always had the wash-cut-wash deal at other places for about the same price. Of course, I didn't mind at all since I always go home straight away to wash my hair.
I'll definitely be back! =]]Listed in: Non-Food Stuff

So to get straight to the point, I just needed a trim to tide me over until my trip to Korea this year where I am eagerly awaiting to get my hair done like a sexy kpop idol. And since money is a little tight these days, I didn't want to shell out $50-60 for trim which is why I turned to yelp to find this place.
Good reviews, cheap price ($15), and relatively close to where I live. Sweet!
But...
I'm not going to lie...I was scared shitless. $15??? For real? Granted there's no shampoo wash like other yelpers have mentioned, but I was going to take a shower anyway so made no diff to me.
The place is surprising cozy. The husband greeted me warmly at the door and offered refreshments. The woman who cut my hair listened to what I wanted, looked at the picture I brought (due to the advice from other yelpers), and then proceeded to tell me what she was going to do, advising she was going to cut a little bit more than what I wanted to get rid of my dead ends.
However, I actually think she didn't cut enough. My hair still looked super long at the end. And at first, I didn't like how the layers fell, but I really couldn't fault her any as the cut looked exactly like the pic I brought in and I could see she cut off 2 inches by the scraps on the floor.
So I then waited about a month to review this to see if it would grow on me (I tend to hate my haircuts at first, but then love it once it grows out a little). It's alright. For $15, I'm pretty satsified. I'd def come back for a trim. But I kind of think this is a place that you only come to get trims or simple haircuts for. I'd be nervous to get a major cut here.
Just a note, even though I was able to get same day appt, the salon was very busy with clients booked all day and walk ins coming in often. And this was on a weekday afternoon too. So def recommend calling first to find out availability. -

My new eyebrow joint!
I have tried out a lot of peeps in the city but she is the best! I did find a great girl in Hunter's Point who's pretty good too, but since I work in the Presidio now this is way more convenient. Oh, and cheap, cheap cheap! Very high quality work for an affordable price! I think I pay bout 10 bucks [that's including the tip]. Make sure to make in appointment because she gets busy often. -

Have I seriously not reviewed this salon yet?
I am a broke college student. Therefore, I cannot afford my luxurious haircuts at JCBC any longer.. Luckily I've found someone who is equally good with the scissors, for a great price and without any frills.
Pauline is my definite go-to for haircuts! She and her hubby run this nice, clean salon together, and they are both so nice and always have a smile on! Pauline is straightforward and will give you exactly what you want. I've never had the problem where I ask for one inch off and I get a zillion off instead, like at other Asian salons. She'll ask you questions so you know you're going to get what you want ("Where do you want your layers to start? How about your bangs?", etc.). She really delivers, and it's even better if you've got a picture with you.
I just came in today for a cut, actually, and she gave me lovely layers exactly like the picture I showed her, meanwhile still keeping the length I'd asked for. I was afraid for a second that it turned out too short, but nope! It was *perfect*!
Never paid more than $15 for a cut here......
:D!!! Score!
Definitely call for an appointment because it gets busy. -

So I've claimed I found my "holy grail" hair guy, so reviewing this place makes me feel like I'm cheating on my once a quarter lover, but I can't look at myself in the mirror without thinking, wow! What a great job she did!
The lady is Vietnamese and halfway thru, we started speaking to each other in Vietnamese. She's super nice! She's also super talented. I didn't know this as she cut my hair dry. She first talked to me in length about how I wanted my hair, checked out the picture I had, and consulted me with length and even the shape! (she also told me my last cut was pretty much subpar and left the bottom too thin (WHAT?!).) But, as she began chopping and angling her scissors, I couldn't help bit wonder if she even knew what she was doing! She was flattening it out against my back and holding the scissors all weird -- I actually got to a point where I got a little nervous that I was going to end up with a mullet! Little did I know, the woman is a visionary!
Now I'm sitting at work admiring the way she was able to blend the layers and define the shape! Amazing job! Thank you, shear image! I'll definitely be back (despite the guilty voice that screams "CHEATER!")! -

The couple who runs this salon is so nice...and the prices are soo reasonable...and she cuts good hair!
I went in to do damage control to a bad haircut. She talked to me and looked at some pictures and made sure she knew what I wanted. Then I was picky and said I wanted more layers, so she let me come back and get my haircut again. All for only $15!!!! If this is not love I don't know what is. -

I still love this place! Been going every few weeks now to tune up cut, brow, and random waxy bits. Correction though -- women's cuts are $15, not $12. And if three bucks difference keeps you from coming here then dude, you need to get your money situation fixed.

I always get what i ask for and shes super skilled and quick. I love being able to get same day appointments.
What i need to do is bring in a picture of what i want since i can't seem to explain it correctly. I've never been able to get my exact cut anywhere except in vietnam but she is as close as it gets here. Its way better than the more expensive cut i got at spa bar.
Hopefully its just my description of what i want thats flawed and not my hair itself which is unable to produce that look. *sigh*
But thank you shear image, ive been here 4x since february, and ive never been anywhere that many times in such a short period. -

I was in desperate need of a haircut and my regular stylist didn't have a last-minute appointment opening, so I went to Yelp (oh, how I love you, Yelp!). I found this gem and couldn't have been happier with the result. I called Shear Image at ~11 am on a weekend and got an appointment for the same day.
One thing to remember is that the $12 haircut entails a DRY CUT. I personally don't like dry cuts, because my hair gets kind of poofy throughout the day and I don't feel a dry cut would come out as sculpted as a wet cut on my hair. So I added a shampoo and a blowout to the cut, which came out to $30-$35 total. You absolutely cannot find that anywhere else!! Another thing you'll want to know is that you MUST already know what kind of haircut you want when you get there. She doesn't offer suggestions, which seems odd at first, but perhaps it's because she is on a time-crunch. This wasn't a huge deal for me, as I always have an idea of what I want before I walk into a salon. Pauline was sweet and friendly, though not huge on small talk, which I didn't mind. Her husband was quiet and sweet and did a great job on the shampoo and scalp massage.
Overall, my experience here was great. I do recommend making an appointment, especially on weekends, as she had to turn away several walk-ins during the ~30 minute time I was there. -

Great and superb haircut for my BF. I was shocked on how fast she cut his hair. Give or take 15 minutes for only $12. The people here are very friendly even though we were just walk-ins and they still squeezed us into her schedule. Waited approx. 20 minutes.
Downfall is that they did not include a wash before nor after cut so he was itchy throughout the day until we came home so he can shower =/ -

I found them on yelp this morning and wanted inexpensive haircut, called at 9:30am when they open and left a message. Man called me shortly and scheduled me for 11:30am. I had to wait few minutes and I brought with me a picture for a reference and the woman went to work and within minutes she was done. $15 and I am very happy and will be back. This is my new place.

They looked like a sweet husband and wife team when I walked in. I was 15 minutes late for my appt. but she didn't seem to mind.
After showing her a picture of what I wanted, she proceeded to work her magic and almost exactly replicated it. She even stopped a few times to make sure that I liked what she was doing. After she finished, she commented with an accent, " See, you look pretty." She reminded me of my aunties, which was completelly endearing. Cheap, no non-sense, and does exactly what you ask for. -

When I moved to San Francisco, I made the mistake of getting an $8 hair cut. Never again.
A month later I hit Yelp to do some serious research and saw all the great reviews for Shear Image Salon, and was so happy to find all the praise is 100% legit.
Pauline is by far the best and most consistent person to ever cut my hair and at $12 per haircut, I will probably never go anywhere else as long as I live in this city.
In fact, after two years of living here, I haven't even considered trying anywhere else.
On top of all of that, her husband is very friendly and always there, making this literally a cozy mom and pop operation that feels much more welcoming and personal than most other hair salons. -

Super happy with Shear Image.. I had an appointment and ended up getting there really early and I thought Id have to sit and wait but when I got there (super sweet couple) the husband started to wash my hair and then right after his wife was able to take me. Shes very specific in what you want so bring a picture or get a couple inches off like I did. She did a great job and was really happy with the results especially it only being $22!! So glad to find a place I can routinely get my hair trimmed without paying so much.

The couple that runs the shop is very nice. For $12 this is about the best cut you can get! I don't need anything fancy, and they give me exactly what I want in a jiffy.

Well, I read all the yelp reviews there was on this place and decided to give it a go. Here is how the day went.
1) Opens the door, walks in, man and women look and say hello.
2) Asked me if I had appointment and I said no, lady says its okay since guy isnt here yet.
3) I sit and she asks me what I want. I cant decide, and she gives me books to look at and told me . " I can not cut your hair. You have to tell me what you want because I want you to like it". 0..0 First time a barbor told me to make sure I knew.
4) Even though people said she a no nonsense lady, I had a good chat with her and husband. They though I was still in high school LOL
5) Cut was finished, paid her 16 dollars. Ran back in after I found a extra dollar in backpack.
sun was shining, bike wasnt stolen. Rode my ass back home with shiny hair flippin in the wind like candy wrapper flying about. -

This place was a really pleasant surprise. My nails look great, and they were only $10. And more importantly, my eyebrows look amazing, and that was also only $10. This is not my usual place, but it is literally the closest salon to my house, and it did not let me down. It seems like now a days, every nail salon offers waxing, but not every place can have someone with really great (i.e. painless) plucking/shaping skills to really complete the appointment.
I'll definitely be back! -

One star. I didn't want to believe it either. I've been here 3 times. The first time was fantastic. I wanted to chop off my hair and Pauline gave me the cutest bob ever. It was perfect!
However, I came back in for a trim a few months later and Pauline went crazy with the texturizing scissors. I was not a happy camper. My hair looked choppy and butchered. It was close to closing time too and I felt rushed. She didn't listen to what I want and didn't even take the time to brush all the hair off of me.
But I figured it was a fluke because of all the good reviews on here so I went back again. This time I asked her to take off an inch. I just wanted to cut off the dead ends. Wow, it was a disaster. She went even crazier with those damn texturizing scissors and 4 inches later I was left looking like someone came after me with a weed wacker.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won't be back. -

Hands down this is the BEST place to get a haircut in the city
1. best price. 12 bucks, cant be beat
2. best people: super friendly husband and wife couple

Got a great haircut here yesterday on the advice of yelp. Walked in on a Friday afternoon, friendly greeting and I'm in a chair in less than 5 minutes. I have pretty long hair for a guy so I am usually nervous about it getting mangled, definitely not the case. Rocky was awesome, he knew exactly what to do. I'll be coming back to support this local business.

Great Value. Only $12
One ideal customer: the guy who wants a routine trim from the same cutter and thinks even SuperCuts is too expensive and unreliable.
Endearing business owners. Simple, low-pressure environment. -

I went here today at the recommendation of my fellow Yelpers. I do not regret my decision. When I get an idea in my head, I am pretty urgent about following it through- as a procrastinator, and an impatient one at that, I feel the pressure to do the deed (whatever that may be) as quickly and efficiently as possible. So, when I decided late last night that I wanted a haircut, it was the first thought on my mind this Sunday morning.
I walked in and was immediately seated upon my request for a cut and color. I have let the whole winter go by sporting my long, straggly, sun-bleached tresses. I wanted a solid dark color and simple trim, with not so simple layers. I got exactly what I wanted and couldn't be happier. I haven't even suffered the usual post-haircut trauma I usually do (change can be such a b**** sometimes...). My hair is silky soft and loads healthier. Go Shear Image. -

UPDATE
Unfortunately, I was disheartened to learn that the review I posted was deleted. It seems like Yelp has removed several reviews on Shear Image Salon since the owner did not agree to pay a monthly fee for more prominent advertising.
Better Business Bureau anyone? This certainly sounds like extortion to me.
I am very much of pro small business and an advocate of free speech.

I highly recommend Shear Image Salon and give them my highest rating!!
The people there are aways very friendly offering you amazing service - they even treat you to a cup of tea if you want one. :)
I've been getting my haircut here for the past several years and have always been treated with great care and respect.
Some tips: If you call ahead of time then you can avoid waiting for a haircut. If not, there's a nice coffee shop next door you can wait at.
There's ample street parking on Geary or on the side streets on Jordan or Palm street.

Thank you, Yelpers for directing me to this place!
I went in for a "trim" at a Great Clips in Santa Clara, out of desperation, about a week earlier, and hated the way the woman bluntly cut my ends. I have very thin hair but A LOT of it, so the bottom just poofs out if its not cut right.
I ended up in that can't-be-happy-with-anything-until-this-hair-dilem ma-is-fixed kind of mood, so I turned to Yelp for a last minute solution and up popped Shear Image Salon!
Unfortunately it was Labor Day, so they were closed, but after class on Tuesday I strolled in, without an appointment and got the best haircut ever. No, really. EVER.
I mean, this was nothing fancy, but the lady did EXACTLY what I asked for. I told her to take the weight out of the bottom, give it some choppy layers, and make it sit nice and flat. I brought a photo, just for backup and she gave me a confident nod and started going wild. Every snip made me happy because I could just tell she got it. She knew what I wanted and how to make it happen.
All this for $15?
Five stars, I say! -

Wow!!! I've never been to a hair salon as good or as cheap as Shear Image. I was looking for a new salon and I saw all the great reviews for this one so I decided to try it out today.
Actually, I was very nervous because when I saw the salon, it looks a bit cheap and also I was getting a major haircut. I was expecting to be helped right away because it was 11:30 am on a Tuesday but I have to wait about 30 minutes until the lady was ready to cut my hair. However, I have no regrets about going here! I showed her a few pictures and she copied them exactly! She's amazing. I walked out looking great for $15.
Make sure to make an appointment if you don't want to wait and bring in a picture. The only thing I didn't like was that she left a lot of clipped hair on me.
I'll definitely be coming back many times! -

They woman who does the eyebrow waxing does an amazing job. It was cheap but she took her time to make sure my eyebrows came out perfect.
The reason I'm giving it a three is because of the bad nail job. A different woman did my nails and she was very stand-offish. That doesn't bother me as long as the job gets done. She takes for freakin ever to do my acrylics and makes me bleed a little. The final result was bad. The nails looks too small for my hands, she didn't properly remove my previous nail polish so you can still see it around the edges. Worst part was she charged my $30 and expected tip. DON'T GO FOR NAILS!!!
