I had my first actual visit to SHE a few weeks ago, after my previous favourite shop had like...zero pretty things in stock in my size that I liked. Entering this little shop in Devonshire, it initially felt strangely empty, as there is only one of everything, with sizes hidden in a secret space in the back.
However, this actually turned out to be no problem. I was greeted by a friendly salesgirl, whom I told my size and asked if they might have anything in stock. She disappeared for a few minutes, and came back with almost a dozen selections to choose from, checking up on me regularly to see how I was doing, and to grab more pieces when I needed. I ended up taking home the prettiest one ever.
The prices might seem a little high at SHE, but when paying for my items, I reasoned that it was also kind of like I was paying for the services rendered/fitting. I would also rather pay a more substantial amount for a garment that fits exactly how it is supposed to, than pay half the price to squeeze myself into something at a department store that doesn't offer a proper fit. I feel much more confident in the beautiful, quality pieces I can get at the likes of SHE.

I started going to SHE in 2008. I went on a whim to prove a point to someone who bet me that I was wearing the wrong bra size. I went in to the store thinking I was a 36DD and found out that I was actually a 30G!

I ended up walking away with two gorgeous bras, and A LOT less money in my pocket. They definitely have some cheaper pieces in the store, but with my hard to fit size many of them did not fit me.

The salesgirls are wonderful, and there is always beautiful stuff no matter what size you are. With a new line that came in this summer called CHANGE finally there are pretty bras for hard to fit chesty girls like myself that are under $100.

I recommend SHE for sure, once you get your first properly fit bra you will never go back!

From previous reviews and the storefront, I assumed that She apparel would be expensive and snobby. I was really surprised to find the salespeople friendly, non-pushy, and extremely helpful.

Like many front-heavy women, finding a good-fitting bra is a constant problem. Lately I had been resigned to wearing the same lululemon bra for a few months, which did the job but was about as sexy as sweatpants.

The saleswoman began by giving me a bra in my usual size, and showed me the places where it wasn't fitting properly and where the straps were digging in. After that she brought me a completely different size. I won't post my bra size online (but if you want to know, you can give me a call at my 1-900 number for $4.99/minute), but the correct fit ended up being 2 cup sizes up and 4 inches tighter than my previous bra. The fit was really amazing, and she explained to me how most women choose too small of a cup size and too wide of a circumference.

The saleswoman brought me a variety of bras with different fits and explained each one in detail. It was a little odd at first to have a stranger seeing me in see-through lace bras and handling my "breast tissue" (not to mention the term "breast tissue" makes me feel like a dissection specimen), but she was so helpful I got over it quickly. At first I was adamant about trying on only plain black bras (I'm not really a lime-green with rhinestones kind of girl), but it was fun to try on different colours and styles to see different options. Most of the bras fell into the $120-160 price range.

After about 25 minutes of one-on-one service, I ended up choosing a bra that fit me perfectly. When putting my old bra back on, I realized how badly-fitting it really was: the new bra made my posture and clothing look completely different. I can honestly say my chest has never looked better. Spending $160 on something I'm going to wear every day is well worth it, and all the bras are built to last. The store also keeps a file of your size and "wish list", if your dude (or friends and family, I guess) wants to come and get a gift for you. They also have private shopping nights and pre-valentine's guys' nights with beer and dude stuff (and if free beer isn't enough incentive to get your guy to buy you nice lingerie, you need to reconsider your relationship).

If you've never spent more than $40 on a bra (I never had), I really recommend coming here for a fitting. I didn't think it would be worth it, but I was completely converted. Just like good wine or chocolate, it's going to be impossible for me to go back to the cheap stuff. Be willing to spend at least $100 and 30 minutes, and you and your girls will leave happy.

I discovered SHE a few months ago after rave reviews from friends. I also discovered they had a line of bras which I love but could not find easily in Calgary called CHANGE.

The first time I went into the store, Lailina, one of the store owners, gave me tons of bras to try on. I was extremely surprised that the bra size I was normally buying was actually two sizes too small in the cup and a few inches too big in the band!

Not going to lie, it made me nervous at first having a person I just met see me in a bra and telling me why it did or didn't fit properly, but she was so helpful and above all, RIGHT, so I quickly got over the awkwardness. It became fun! I must have tried on about 20 different pieces. There were so many to choose from, I like variety so I was highly impressed by this.

The bras are higher in price range than places like La Senza or La vie en Rose, but the quality you are getting is a million times better. Why spend $20 or $30 on a cheap fitting bra that doesn't fit properly, breaks easily and only lasts a couple months when you can buy a bra for around $100 that fits amazingly, makes you look slimmer, lasts a long time, prevents stress you get on your shoulders and back, and looks fantastic? You will be spending more, but it is much better value.

I left the store with 3 bras, a pair of underwear and a whole new outlook on how bras should properly fit!

The second time I went to SHE I was helped by a sales girl named Chai who was fantastic at finding me the best bra. They had a new shipment of bras called Pleasure State that are sexy, extremely well fitted and comfortable! I was nervous that because the store owner wasn't there I wasn't going to get the best service I got the first time. I was EXTREMELY wrong! All the sales associates are willing to help you and will find the best bra for your body.

I will never buy bras from cheap places ever again and will continue to be customer of SHE for a long time to come. I know they also host private shopping parties which I will book soon! SHE is fabulous!

I went to this shop because I am an unconventional bra size and rarely find that size (30DD) big chain stores. They structure the store so they bring you pieces rather than allowing you to browse. This way you are more likely to get a correct fit and you don't have to sift through piles of different size bras. Yes, the bras are pricey (one of the ones I ended up buying is 1/3 of the price on-line), but they do carry high end brands and their selection is vast. I also really loved their swimwear.

The reason I give this place such a poor rating is because of management. While the sales girl that fit me was very pleasant and understanding, I thought that the owner/manager was definitely not. We had some difficulty with sizing so the sales girl asked her to help out. The manager was very arrogant and put me in a bra that offered zero support. When I explained that I did not like it she became very pushy. Then when I went to pay, I was asked for personal information (name, address, phone ect) so that I could go into their "database". I don't feel comfortable giving out personal info to sales people and I didn't want to be part of the database so I attempted to opt out. At this point, the manager became very argumentative. This was very offensive to me as I was dropping quite a bit of money in her store. Eventually I asked her if she wanted to make a sale or not. She took the money, but I left feeling very frustrated. Normally, I would have simply walked out but I had spent so much time trying on bras and I really liked the items I had selected.

Would I recommend this store? They have great product and structure, but be prepared to be pressured. I prefer to shop in a much more easygoing and friendly environment so no way would I go back.

History

Established in 2005

Lailina Smith founded SHE, Specializing in Lingerie & Swimwear. During a successful corporate career, Lailina took a trip to Europe and for the first time in her adult life, was fitted into her proper bra size. Prior to the fitting she was a 36C, after the fitting, she was a 30E. It was shocking that she was actually wearing a bra 6 inches too big in the back, meaning all the weight of her breasts were weighing on her shoulders, giving her tremendous back & neck pain and bad posture.

The experience had a profound impression on her, but once back home, she could not find a store that could duplicate her experience in Europe.  Sometimes she could find the right fit through a specialty store, but the style was just not in line with her fashion forward sense.  Frustrated, Lailina started SHE and has since grown to 2 locations, expanded to cup-sized swimwear, and has been voted "Best in Lingerie" last 5 years!

Lailina and husband, Brandon, now both own and operate their stores together.
