Sunday Afternoon tea at the Shangri La, can it get any better? Well, if it was sunny that would have helped, but that isn't the Shangri La's fault.
The service was excellent, staff was attentive but not annoying. Unlike some establishments ( you know who you are Hotel Vancouver) didn't feel rushed, probably could have stayed for 2 or 3 hours if we had wanted to.
The food was great, we had some dietary restrictions and they happily made substitutions. The Pina Colada Pannacotta was amazing, in fact all the desserts were amazing. As were the canapes. Hadn't had canapes at an afternoon tea before but it was a nice touch, and a yummy one.
All and all it was a lovely tea and afternoon. -

Saturday Afternoon Tea with my Girls at the Shangri-La lobby lounge was simply delightful. The Shangri-La located on West Georgia and Thurlow in downtown Vancouver offers afternoon tea daily from 1pm to 5pm. The lobby lounge - 2-storey floor-to-ceiling windows, vintage crystal chandeliers, leather armoir chairs and a black grand piano offers a sophisticated and elegant setting. Starting at 2:30pm, A pianist plays classical/jazz music on the grand piano which creates a even more refined ambiance.
Once we were seated, I immediately noticed the lovely tea-ware and place setting. We were greeted by excellent service and our server was very knowledge in the tea selection and offered great input. The afternoon tea service is $35 per person and it includes:
Tea of your choice - I chose the Whiskey Cream Black Tea which is a cocao and vanilla blend - very aromatic and creamy.
Raisin Scones - We started our tea service with a plate of raisin scones accompanied with Strawberry jam, Pineapple jam and Devonshire cream. The scones were lovely - very fluffy and buttery.
3- Tiered Sandwich/Cake plate:
1st Tier - 3 mini sandwiches( candied salmon, prosciutto, and cucumber & cream cheese) and egg salad croissant. This sandwiches were delicious especially the candied salmon; however, the bread was a little dry.
2nd Tier - 3 amuse bouche - couscous, lamb sausage roll and prawn with beets ragout. These bite-sized hors d'œuvre were the least favourite part of the tea service. The couscous was not flavorful, the sausage roll was quite distasteful and the prawn was too sweet.
3rd Tier - 3 petite sweets - berry mousse, éclair and macaroon. The berry mousse was refreshing and velvety. The éclair and macaroon were good but it was a little too sweet for me.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience at The Shangri-La Lobby Lounge . The ambiance is simply " Refined Elegance" and the food is solid - it is the perfect place for some R&R with your girls.

I came here with a food tour last month for the Afternoon Tea. Being an afternoon tea virgin, I was pretty excited to have my first try at such a nice place.
Here's what I sampled:
Freshly baked cranberry scones with clotted cream and housemade compotes-- uhm, hi. My name is Karra and I'm a scone junkie! It was soft, it was fresh and that cream was silky with just the right amount of buttery goodness. It was the perfect spread with the berry compotes.
Assorted pastries-- once upon a time, there were 7 dwarves named Creme Puff, Lemon Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry and Chocolate Cake...oh wait. My mistake. Those are just the names of the delicious pastries I ate.
Loose leaf tea -- I think this was a jasmine tea of some sorts. Either way, it came in a pretty china cup and I'm just a sucker for pretty things.
The Afternoon Tea runs from 1-5pm everyday and will run you about $30. Definitely a great special occasion kind of thing to do and place to go.
INSIDER SECRET: The Lobby Lounge also hosts a FREE tapas hour every weekday from 5-6pm. Nothing goes better with a Caesar than something free! -

Came here today with a couple of girlfriends for afternoon tea. The decor is elegant and understated, with gentle Asian accents. The tea service itself was on par with what you expect from a 5-star hotel, with a broad selection of loose leaf teas, petit fours, finger sandwiches, and scones for $30 CAD per person. The china was beautiful. I'm giving it 4 stars only, though, because the service was spotty at times, and the food wasn't "so" good that it blew my mind.
All in all, a great place to cool your heels after a day of shopping and enjoy a few delectable nibbles. -

We went for an afternoon tea treat on Sunday. Priscilla made a booking to make sure we get a place. As expected it was crowded.
It's a very typical afternoon tea. Finger sandwiches, scones, sweets and teas of course. The whole experience didn't blow me away. I prefer the food and ambiance in Shangri-La (Asia). If I have to choose a place for afternoon tea in Canada. It will be Fairmont Empress in Victoria BC. I expected more from an international establishment (30 CAD ++) -

I really enjoyed my lunch here! They had a lunch prix fixe and I'm that kinda gal to do the whole 3-course prix fixe thing so I was thrilled to find this out!
Food was delicious. Tuna tartare, crispy duck... I can't remember what we ate but everything impressed us. Subtle flavours really came out. Great presentation on everything.
I still to this day cannot find the butter they served in stores! It's really bugging me. Foothills, the kind in the blue foil. Not the margarine-butter mix. If anyone knows, tell me!
Nice, friendly service. Tea was served very nicely but the tea itself wasn't that impressive. We even saw Joshua Jackson walk by! Good spot for lunch. -

Got a sweet deal on two nights last week. The room was very neat and well decorated. The massage we got at their spa was excellent, and Jarren at the concierge desk was fantastic - recommended a delicious brunch spot, helped us locate the bus stop we needed for the ferry, and also was able to recommend a clean tattoo parlor that took us last-minute without an appointment because he had called ahead for us. Thanks Jarren!
