Recently bought one of those coupon cards for this place - the kind where you get a couple free appetizers, & a bunch of BOGO dinners, lunches, desserts, etc. I'd never been to Sgt Pepper's before, but thought I'd give it a shot.
We went for an early supper on a Saturday, & the place was pretty much empty, but like I said, it was still early. It filled up a little bit during our visit, but it never got packed by any means. We were greeted & seated right away by a friendly server, & looking around, the decor was pretty standard for a pub/restaurant. We chose loaded fried as our (free) appetizer, & asked that the two kids' meals come out at the same time as the app. When food arrived, our loaded fries were covered in mixed cheese, gravy, bacon bits & chives, as expected, but they were colder than the fries on the kids' plates. So either they used older fries for our dish, or else it sat while the kids' meals were being made. Neither of which should have happened. Little kids don't want piping hot fries, adults do. Next time, make sure the grownups get the hot fries.
Our entrees came just as we were finishing our fries, & I had ordered the rib-eye steak with mashed potatoes & gravy, & seasonal veggies, while my wife chose the stuffed sole with rice & veggies. She gave the sole a passing grade, but it didn't wow her, either. My steak was cooked properly, although it seemed smaller than the 10 oz the menu claimed it was. It had just enough seasoning to enhance the flavour, & was enjoyable, overall. The mashed potatoes were somewhat lumpy, & despite being told by the guy who sold me the card that everything is made fresh, in-house, their gravy most definitely came from a packet. Disappointing, to say the least. How hard is it to make decent mashed potatoes & gravy?
The servers were friendly & attentive, & thankfully, we didn't have any issues with the service.
Overall, it seems like a fairly standard bar/pub/restaurant, with nothing impressive to really set it apart from other places. Our experience there wasn't bad, but it didn't overly impress us, either. We'll go back, to take advantage of our BOGO card, so hopefully the next visit will be better.
