Review from Jeff S.
We used a $25 off of $45 coupon from http://restaurant.com today, and it turned out to be a pretty good experience. The food was outstanding, probably the best Turkish food I've had in the last few months, and the service was very efficient as well.
You can get a mixed kebab platter with any 2 kebabs you want for about $18 and it comes with salad, roasted vegetables, rice, and bread. It's really a huge meal. We decided to get 2 of them to sample 4 kinds of kebab (Doner, Adana, Shish, and Beyti) and we also got the Ezme salad (much like a Turkish salsa) to boot. The flavors were spot on. Everything had that 'right off the grill' flavor, was succulent, and extremely juicy. We also got a knafe for dessert which was hot, fresh, and delicious.
Total with the coupon was $30 (rather than $55), plus they add in an 18% tip on the full amount, so it was $39 and change total. I have to say, $40 for everything is a good deal. I'm not so sure if it was $65 it would have been that great of a value; but if you use a coupon or get the half price lunch special, this place can't be beat. -

this place wouldn't have been worth it if i didn't have a gift certificate.
SETTING:
the decor leaves something to be desired. it's pretty plain - reminds me of the spots in midtown where most people go to for lunch out of convenience, not by choice. i mean, i can see how they tried to make it pretty & presentable but it's definitely not a spot for date night.
FOOD:
TARAMA - MEH. super salty. also, it didn't help that i couldn't eat bread with it.
FRIED CHEESE - YES. boyfriend loved it.
MIXED GRILL [karaiski izgara] - YES. it's very good. it's a pretty big portion & comes with the adana, doner & shish kebab, lamb chop, rice & a salad.
DORADO [izmir cupra] - YES! whole dorado, chargrilled. super fresh, comes with salad & rice.
LAMB CHOPS [kuzu pirzola] - MEH. ordered this to go & the portion is huge.
HOMEMADE GYRO - AWESOME. ordered this to go & the portion is just as, if not BIGGER than the lamb chops. i would actually recommend forgoing the Mixed Grill & ordering this instead [if you're in the mood for gyro]. meat is flavorful & super tender.
SERVICE:
the servers are all super nice & the food came in at a good pace. pretty average.

I was here about 2 weeks ago with my gf, and had the chance to taste the shish kebab, the chicken kebab and the Turkish pizza with Turkish pastrami and mozzarella. We were both quite pleased with our dishes, but we wouldn't write a book about them. The ingredients seemed fresh.
However, it took 20 minutes to get the check. Then, they initially gave us a discount of scoutmob for just $10 instead of $20. They did fix the mistake, which took another 10 minutes. After an additional 10 minutes of waiting for them to bring my card back, I had to get up, go to their cash register and ask for my card/check, which were sitting right there, ready to go, but completely forgotten. Not the best service. Another place that hates scoutmob customers. -

Decent enough.
Perhaps I would have been a little bit more impressed if I actually ordered something with meat on it, but I opted for something a little lighter on an "It's too early in the spring to already be close to 80 degrees at 5:30 p.m.!" evening.
My friend ordered a combination plate of cold appetizers with various beans, dips, and vegetables. She enjoyed it all, especially the creamy yet nutty yogurt dip which doubled as a delicious dipping sauce for our complimentary bread basket.
I ordered the zucchini pancakes which left a little to be desired. They had flavor, but were not flavorFUL. Thank goodness for the tangy yogurt sauce that was served with it. I was expecting something hot and crunchy when I read "deep fried" on the menu. What I got was warm and limp. No one likes warm and limp, be it food or...well, otherwise...
The waitstaff was friendly and speedy. We had our meals in about five minutes. No exaggeration.
My friend snagged us a discount to get 50% off our meal via some online special, but as soon as we told the waitstaff...we didn't get our check for about 10 minutes. We thought we had been dissed (...oh, the horror stories I read about Yelpers being treated like garbage for having the audacity to use a GroupOn deal, et al, at a place of service...) It turned out that we didn't spend the required $50 bucks to make us eligible for the discount, but they wanted to do something, so they figured out the bill to still give us $15 bucks off our bill. The grand total of the bill made us drop our jaws ever so slightly: we paid a scant $12 for a light early dinner betwixt the two of us.
Not too shabby!
I think we cumulatively spent more money at Pinkberry afterward!
Perhaps, when I'm in the mood for spicy meat on a stick in a classier sit-down environment, I'll return. I'm game to do so in the future.
P.S.: They have plastic on their seats. Glad I wasn't wearing a skirt or shorts this evening, or else there would have been some major skin - to - plastic stickage going on... -

This place was very charming, decorative, and cozy, though spacious. Our waitress was very sweet and genuine. The service was great. Glasses were never empty. Food came out fairly quickly. All that good stuff. So, why three stars?
Well, the most important part of the experience at a restaurant is the food. The food came in decent-sized portions, but there is a significant lack of flair in the dishes in terms of spices, and as a Mediterranean/Turkish restaurant, they've got some great options for indigenous spices. However, our food, while cooked and presented well, was quite lackluster.
I didn't feel like I was getting any value from the menu. They were moderately-priced (though a wee bit on the higher side). I would have expected something that might have left me wanting more, instead of grabbing my glass to help fight against the bland taste left in my mouth. -

I've been here at least twice with my parents, and I am always eager to go back. I am a vegetarian who has a fondness for falafel and Middle Eastern food. My brother lives in Jerusalem, I can tell when falafel is good, and the falafel at Seven's is great.
I think Seven's has great food and a pleasant atmosphere, our waters were always being refilled... But the prices are a little high, and there is nothing that is incredible standout about it. I would come again, but I am sure there are many restaurants that are just as good for less money. -

Manhattan, NY
This was my first visit to Seven's and was excited by the traditional menu compared to other Turkish restaurants that end up being more Mediterranean.
We were seated in the middle aisle, which had a lot of traffic going by so it wasn't the most relaxing dinner. The waitstaff were very sweet and attentive and were wiling to answer as many questions as you wanted about the menu. The overall atmosphere was pretty nice.
The appetizers came out in about 2 minutes, which made me wonder how long they had been cooking for. We had the zucchini pancakes, which were deep fried and crispy, but had an odd flavor that completely masked the zucchini. Though the yogurt dipping sauce was great. I also had the lentil soup, which was absolutely perfect and what you can expect from a traditional Turkish restaurant. The bread was also amazing.
For entrees I had the adana kebab, which was pretty disappointing. There were diced onions and red peppers that seemed to act as filler for the meat as it was mixed together and the diced pieces were large and ruined the meal for me. This is also supposed to be somewhat of a spicy dish and it wasn't at all. My husband had the doner and shish kebab combo, which for $18 was not worth it. The donor did not have the flavor I normally expect and the four small pieces of shish had great flavor, but barely made for a full meal.
We used a foursquare check-in coupon for first timers and got 10% off our meal. We spent about $60 before coupon on 2 entrees, soup, appetizer, 1 glass of wine, 1 beer. Not a bad deal, but would not call this the best Turkish in NY. -

This was our first time at this restaurant. There were 5 of us.
PROS: The food was very good. Good quality and superbly prepared. The server was very helpful in suggestions as we had some people who preferred spicy foods while others who preferred more mild foods. They also were helpful in recommending Turkish wines and the white we had was very good. Generally, the staff was courteous, welcoming and helpful.
CONS: Both the rectangular and round tables are suited for 4 people. There is no table which can comfortably seat 5 so we were quite crowded and there was little room on the table for our plates, water glasses, wine glasses, and the serving platters of food. I assume a larger party would have them put rectangular tables together but 5 is not the ideal party size for this place. -

West Allis, WI
The best part of our dining experience is when the CD skipped for twenty minutes straight before someone hit the next track button, as fans of ambient noise rock we found it quite avant-garde.
Don't order the falafel appetizer because it will never come an you'll find it on the bill anyway.
Don't drink the water too quickly because you only get one carafe.
The pastrami and cheese Hot Pocket® was quite good, actually
The Kebab tasted alright, a little greasy, and was pretty expensive - $16 for about 5-6oz of meat. Also it was slightly rotten as we have been crapping all night after the meal.
I don't recommend this place before a first date as you may experience embarrassing bowel issues that don't result in a second date.
The decor was pretty nice, which is worth a star. Also the water had ice in it which gives the rating its second star. -

This was a quaint little restaurant on the upper west side. I've always passed by here, but finally decided to check this place out. Even on a Thursday evening, it seems pretty busy (but not overly crowded) We walked in and was greeted by hostess, then the waitress immediately sat us down. We got the bread quickly as starters, but it took the waitress about 10 minutes before we were even offered some water...Perhaps there was some miscommunication between her and the busboy.
Anyway, we ordered fried calamari as an appetizer which was pretty good. Not greasy or overcooked, but just right. My friend ordered the lamb gyro dish and I got the chicken kabobs. I was never too keen on lamb because it was always gamey tasting to me, but my friend urged me try it because he said it's really good. So I took a piece off his plate and it was delicious! Flavored just right. If I didn't know any better, I would've thought it was beef. My chicken kabobs were marinated just right, so no complaints there. It filled me up good, but not to the point where my stomach was bursting.
Overall, I liked the food and it was a nice setting. However, this was a tad bit on the pricey side. Had I known about the http://restaurant.com deal ($25 for $50 worth of food) and the waitress was a bit more attentive, they would've gotten 5 stars. I would probably come back to try some of their other dishes. -

This place is really nice. We have had take out before, but never been there until tonight. The waitress was very nice. We had falafel, gyros, and lentil soup. Everything was soo good! We had baklava for dessert, also very good. We want to go back and try more dishes. Authentic, and fresh food.

I am giving this place only three stars because we were annoyed that they took back their participation from Scoutmob after already posting it. The mezes were good as were their kebabs, though really over priced. The stuffed cabbage was insipid. If we had the scoutmob discount we would have returned and thought it was a good value, but without it, we will not return and felt that the food was overpriced. I find Turco on 44th and 9th a better value.

The food is really bland. The quality and presentation is all there; the staff is very nice and atmosphere is great. The food is just really bland. I've had much better, and for less money. It's really too bad. I think this place could be really great if they had some seasoning in the kitchen.

The Good - Friendly waitress, nice Turkish chicken dishes.
The Bad - Overall not much to get excited about as Seven was pretty average across the board.
I wanted to find an authentic and decent Mediterranean restaurant on the upper west side, and came across Seven on Yelp. Reading the other reviews, it was a mixed bag so decided to venture out and find out for myself.
The staff were friendly enough, and were knowledgeable about the menu so could explain the different dishes and types of kebabs etc. on offer. Disappointingly they only had one Turkish beer (I like to try local beverages), and the Turkish white wine was pretty bad! We ordered a starter mezze to share and 3 different chicken dishes for main. The mezze was ok however all the different foods had been placed together. While this is one way of serving a mezze, I prefer a little separation as it resulted in the hummus, yoghurt, aubergine and peppers all mixing together into a sloppy paste which wasn't great as we were sharing. The chicken dishes were tasty though and the service was timely. Regarding the surroundings, while there were others seated in the restaurant, the ambience felt a little lackluster as did the deco - it did not have that warm bubbling Turkish atmosphere we were hoping for!
Overall a very average experience, and definitely not enough to entice me back for a second visit with so many other options to explore! -

Scotch Plains, NJ
Started with the large mixed appetizer ($20.50), which was an appropriate size for two hungry people. The lebni, humus, piyaz, eggplant, and fresh bread were all delicious. The tabouleh was just OK.
The entrees were misses, or maybe just poor choices. The lamb sauté ($17.25) looked like dog food. My friend seemed to like it, but I didn't taste it. My wife's kofte kebab ($15.00) was dry.
I had the manti ("Turkish ravioli", $17.00). I had never had this dish before, but it was not what I expected. It was unappealing, gelatinous, gummy little pellets of raw-tasting dough, swimming in a tomato cream sauce. It was gross.
When only half our group had finished eating, the overeager busboy began rudely reaching across the table and clearing plates. My wife and her girlfriend were only partially through their entrees when the server asked if we were ready to order coffee and dessert. I told her to stop rushing us, and go away. We skipped dessert.
Overall, I might be willing try this place again, because I love ethnic food, but would not go out of my way to do so. Three stars on this occasion, for the appetizers only, not for the entrees, or the service. -

A few of my friends and I were visting New York for a weekend and looking for some unique restaurants only found in the big city. Our host took us to Seven's, and boy! I couldn't of asked for anything more delicious! Upon walking into the restaurant, you're welcomed with paintings of traditional Turkish folkart and the succulent aroma of something wonderful cooking in the kitchen. The place was extremely busy, but that just means you know it's good! I would recommend making a reservation beforehand.
For an appetizer, we stuck to the basics and ordered humus with pita bread. It definitely didn't disappoint. I almost got to wrapped up in eating the pitas, that I overstuffed myself a bit even before the main course came out. For the main course, I ordered a combination kabab of adana and shish kabab. One of my friends got a different combination kabab to share, so we all got to try every type of kabab. The meat was seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of spices and herbs. It was also quite a generous portion, so no worries about not having enough food. If I ever am in that area of New York again, I will definitely stop by to grab a bite to eat!!Listed in: Travel Destinations

We went here before a performance at Lincoln Center because they participated in http://Restaurant.com promotions so we figured we'd try it. This was a great way for us to order a lot of food but save a lot of money.
We ordered the grilled calamari - a great smokey charred flavor. Delicious and light appetizer. We also ordered hummus that was served with the warm bread/pita - also fantastic. Our third appetizer was actually a pide (a meal), gyro meat wrapped in dough and baked. HUGE.
For my meal I ordered hot mashed eggplant (similar to baba ganoush, but hot) with chunks of lamb (see pictures). It was amazing. Served with grilled peppers and tomatoes.
For four people, 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, it came to $99. This is because of the coupon we had - $50 gift certificate that I purchased for $7.50 from http://Restaurant.com. 18% gratuity was included in this $99 price. Awesome. -

New York, NY
This place looked very inviting and moderately priced. I started with the Hummus, very forgettable, the bread had more flavor than the actual hummus. Next came the Beyti Kebab which was not bad. The skewered ground lamb had excellent flavor and was just the right portion. The grilled tomato was the next best thing on the plate. Everything else, the parsley/grilled peppers were very lacking in flavor. Last but not least was the saving grace, the Pistachio Baklava. Holy Sh!t! Not a dessert fan at all, but this was one of the best tasting baklava's ever! I must say that the service here is outstanding, will I be back? Maybe...for dessert.

I used my yelp app to find this restaurant on a cold winter night. My bf and I decided to try it out and we're glad we discovered this gem.
The portions are big and flavorful. However, I do think that it was overall pretty pricey. We ordered two appetizers, the hummus and the assortment of pickles, and two entrees, both of them lamb. The hummus was the best hummus I have ever had. It has a richness, yet is still smooth and creamy with a touch of olive oil finish. I would go back just for this!
I'm dying to try out the lunch specials since it seems more affordable and they offer the exact same dishes. -
Review from Yasmin E.
Decent food (I'm OBSESSED with their bread + Lebneh or Eggplant appetizer tho). I tried the chicken kabob, and it was decent, however I would have liked it if I could opt for a different side (I'm not into rice and a flexible menu would have been nicer). The ambiance was cute, nothing too fancy, but definitely a good 2nd or 3rd date type place. Bon apetite!

We did an UWS walk on Sunday afternoon, and stopped here for a meal. Overall, it was a good experience. Denise had the Chicken Kebob and I had a Chicken Sautee with some red lentil soup to start. The soup was delicious with some lemon added, and although our meals were good, we swapped about halfway through and were even more satisfied. Service was quick and friendly, and I would definately stop by here again. This area has changed so much in the past 10 years, I hope they stick around.

My date and I went here for dinner before a recent show at The Beacon Theater.
A clean, well lighted place with good, attentive service.
Shared the Sigara Borek as an appetizer. A small portion that was a little bland.
The main course consisted of lamb chops for her and homemade Manti for me. Both portions were of a decent size and were very flavorful.
I forgot the name of the dessert we shared, but it was disappointing.
Dinner, with drinks and tip, ran about $90.00 -

What a find. My mouth waters just thinking about it.
Scan the menu, and it almost sounds boring. "Mixed Grill." "Mixed Appetizers." Pretty lame, right? WRONG.
Mmm, that "Mixed Appetizers" starter. We ordered the large plate for four people, and it was PHENOMENAL! Two different delicious eggplant appetizers (I don't even know what specifically it was, but none of us could get enough of it.) A classic tabouleh. A perfectly blended, generous portion of hummus. And the white yogurt sauce...mmm!!
And then the main course... *drumroll*
- Stuffed Cabbage ...perfectly cooked, four pieces of cabbage stuffed with meat, on creamy red sauce. Unbelievable. Gone in a matter of minutes.
- Mixed Grill - a selection of deliciously grilled meats, with rice and chillies. Again, a smash hit and instant favorite
- Shish Kebab - who knew it could taste this good? I'd certainly dreamed it could.
We didn't order dessert, but we did take a stab in the dark and order the Turkish Red Wine - good call. It went perfectly with the meal. We also had plenty of leftovers in spite of how good everything was (a day later, the microwaved leftovers tasted just as good.) I'm definitely coming back here if I end up in the area. (And it's just a few blocks from the Lincoln Center!) -

A very disappointing night....that still has me feeling bad in my stomach and about every dollar this place cheated out of me
.
What completely shocked me was the fact that none of the main meals served any humus on the plate. So i payed $15 a plate for about 4 measly cubes of meat with about 10 french fries and a small dash of shredded lettuce. WHAT THE ......! so basically they serve dry food and expect you to eat it....well i wouldnt blame them for all of that because that a moronic thing to do....but what i do blame them for is making a dry dish and forcing you to spend another 7 dollars on a dollop of humus. They knew what the were doing...trying to ring out any dollar they could.
So the food was average, took an unreasonable amount of time to prepare for such a small amount of food (which was way over priced!) and the waitress just made the whole experience more frustrating and painfully unbearable making you feel like your being talked down to and stolen from. The bill came to way over $100 for days spent after with diarrhea and embarrassment for "picking this place." I am now "banned" from my family for picking where we are going to meet for dinner.
I honestly dont know how this place is still in business. i guess either people are constantly cheated on their first time and or people are uneducated on Mediterranean cuisine. I wish i read an accurate review before wasting my money and time. -

Review from Tina C.
An upscale Mediterranean restaurant where a blind date took me here. Reservations are highly recommended as we arrived late because I left work 1/2 hour later than expected. Thus with our late arrival we lost our table despite of having reservations and my blind date was throughly livid. Eventually the blind date went sour... but that's another story.
The entrées are prepared very well and fresh. This restaurant was extremely pricey for dinner for two as I peeked at the bill which my date paid was I believe it to be almost $200.00. We also had 2 full bottles of Seabiscuit Ranch Chardonnay 2003 of the legendary champion racehorse at the bar while waiting nearly 1/2 hour for a table. http://www.seabiscuitr...
The service is extremely attentive and the decor is very modern and clean. The bar tender is knowledgeable and informative. -

7:30 on a Tuesday night and they were PACKED. So packed that even though we had a reservation, we had to wait a good 15 minutes to get our table. That and the fact that we always seemed to be waiting to have our water refilled, is the reason I'm deducting 1 star. Now, let's move on to the good things.
The portions are huge and the food is delicious. I feel a little spoiled that such a great Turkish restaurant is a mere one block away from my apartment! The appetizer sampler for the table is the way to go. Amazing hummus, babaganoush, tabbouleh and more, and it definitely satiated the hunger pangs of three starving girls until our food came. Oh, and the pita bread is unlike any I've seen before. Really thick and fluffy, warm, and sesame encrusted. I thought it was bread, but apparently, I've only had the "poor man's" thin, flat pita before!
I ordered the combination grill of 1/2 chicken and 1/2 lamb shish kebabs. The chicken was moist and the lamb was succulent and cooked to perfection. Served with a heaping of pillowy rice and a few vegetables (1/4 grilled tomato wedge, grilled green chile, red pickled cabbage and a sliced onion and lettuce salad), everything was mouthwatering. Even though I was stuffed, I could not help myself from continuing to shove forkfuls in my mouth. Yum!
Didn't get a chance to try the dessert because by that point, I was about to explode, but I will definitely return... -

Have gotten delivery many times and eaten in twice with a small group.
Excellent value.
My favorites: chicken or lamb adana kebab, most any of the lamb dishes, shrimp casserole. Imam bayildi (cold stuffed baby eggplant) Grape leaves have currants and/or pine nuts so better than average.
Babaganush is different from that in most mid eatern joints; it's smoky and more like what most turkish places call "eggplant salad" Their "eggplant salad" was too chunky; in other words, get the babaganush!
Not so good: sigara borek: too greasy. Falafel: I've had better. -

Just wandering about near Lincoln Center and we became hungryan, the three of us. Since we all love vegetarian, we searched Google Maps and found numerous others which when we arrived on foot to were closed or too simple. So a quick walk east on 72nd, where we were already headed found us Seven's. Quick search of the menu offered us enough choices so we were seated.
We weren't exceptionally hungry so we ordered 4 appetizers consisting of babaghanush, flafel, grape leaves and a white bean dish called piyaz. All of them were excellent. Service was fast and attentive. Price for 4 appetizers was a nominal $31.00 and our friend treated to boot! Atmosphere was listed as romantic but I felt it quite suitable for a nice evenings date but not the place to propose...
Highly recommend by all of us. We were well satiated. -

I'm usually not a big fan of Turkish food (too similair to the Egyptian food my mom cooks except not as good so I always get dissapointed) but I wasn't too dissapointed.
The beyti kabab is supposedly flavored with garlic and hot peppers.. I couldn't tell. I shared a stuffed cabbage which was also a bit bland. Everyone else seemed happy though so it could've just been bad luck for me. I had a bunch of appetizers which were pretty good.
Service was good and so was the ambience. -

Very good food, myself and 3 friends ordered a few appetizers and were totally full. As far as things to get, it's complicated since of all the things we ordered, each of the 3 of us had different favorite dishes. I can only speak for myself, and I liked the felafel plate the best--the crispy felafels were just perfect with the cool white sauce. The sample plate is a great option as it has many things to try--I liked the yogurt with dill best. The pizza is served folded in half and comes with three (a lot, I know!). Very unique taste--worth trying.

I love the hummus here, among the best I've had. They always bring warm bread out and it adds fabulously to the hummus.
My favorite dish here is the Yogurtlu Adana. The Yogurtlu Beyti is also very very good.
Service is always very good, and I've never had to wait to be seated.
I'm definitely a fan. -

It was a bit difficult to make a decision on what to get because the menu is quite large and everything seems so similar based on the descriptions.
I had the lamb and eggplant dish which was delicious, but not very large. My friend ordered a kebab and it had literally 4 bite sized pieces of meat on the skewer. He said it was very good though. If you're going there for the kebab meat though, you'd get a much better value getting street meat. The prices are about 15-20% too high. -

Found this place using Yelp and couldn't be much happier... everything we had was very tasty, very fresh, and perefectly cooked! We all shared the appetizer sampler and everything on it was very good - the hummus was especially good. I don't eat bread but they brought out a large, warm basket of what looked like great bread. The other guys at the table loved it. Three of us had the Mixed Grill - chicken, beef, lamb, etc. All cooked perfectly. Our fourth had the Dorado fish - he promised to have something he never had before - and he said it was really good. All in all a great find - thanks Yelp!

Reliably good Turkish food, great neighborhood place. I little over priced, but waitstaff is super nice, there are few better Turkish places in the city, but this one is acceptable. Great salads.
